  • "Our only complaints were the pillows which were rather hard and it would have been great to have fans in the bedrooms as they were very warm at night."

  • "We had a great time at the cottage, I was slightly sceptical after reading mixed reviews but the property was perfect!"

    Its bigger than it looks in photos and it was well equipped. Its great having a bathroom for each floor and I loved the decor inside. The balcony is lovely and we got some beautiful views :) such an ease getting the keys and being able to just put them back in the drop box when we left! Only thing that would of been useful would be to have a fan as it was so hot with having lovely weather when we were there. Would highly recommend this property, fab location, very modern interior, well equipped kitchen and the tv was a smart tv it had everything you could need

  • "The car port is very tight and difficult to manoeuvre."

    Do not arrive in a larger car eg 4x4. Average size vehicle is possible with a lot of help such as sensors.

  • "The parking situation was a nightmare."

    We only have a small car (Golf) and the only way we could get into the space provided was by using all the modern sensors in the car. Anyone with a bigger car would find it impossible. Perhaps the off road parking should be reviewed. We noticed that this issue had been highlighted before in the comments book.

  • "Any problems were dealt with efficiently,however, despite numerous requests,the rubbish from previous weeks was never removed."

    There were rubbish bags all over the floor and all the recycling bins were overflowing to the extent we took some of the rubbish to public bins for recycling etc. The smell,in the heat, of rotting food was quite pungent to say the least. The apartment,in our option,was not COVID clean. Toys and lipstick found under bed/ furniture.

    Thank you for taking the time to review Trevena. I'm so sorry you encountered issues with the rubbish during your stay. I have contacted the property manager and unfortunately due to high levels of coronavirus in Newquay the team who usually deal with our rubbish had been asked by public health to isolate for 10 days. I have been assured this was a one off issue and will not happen again but would like to offer my sincerest apologies that it affected your stay. As for the items left behind under furniture, I am very sorry that happened. Our standards of cleanliness at Trevena are extremely high but it seems we did not meet those on this occasion, the cleaners have assured me this will not happen again going forwards. I hope you enjoyed your stay regardless and will consider Trevena again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We all really enjoyed our stay at Trevena."

    The flat was as described and was clean and fresh and looked newly decorated. Kitchen was well equipped. Everywhere was spotlessly clean upon arrival. Checking in and out was easy as the key is on site in a key safe, so we had no problems finding the place or having to then wait around either for someone to come and let us in. Really good location too. Turn right, down the hill into one end of Newquay town ( 5 mins down to Sainsburys) where there are bars, pubs and restaurants and if you come out the flat and turn left up the hill and left again it is a short walk to the other end end of Newquay town. Parking for only one car, which was fine for us but just to note. We would definitely stay here again.

    High standard of fixtures and fittings. Lovely touch as milk, biscuits tea coffee there for us. Lovely view of the sea from the window. Good location for beach, shops and centre on Newquay.

  • "The apartment was not as clean as I would have hoped given the Covid-19 situation."

    Doors were grubby where people handle them to close the door and the carpet in the entrance hallway and stairs was stained and did not appear to have been vacuumed. On arrival the hot water was not working, the kitchen sink was leaking into the cupboard underneath and the main bedroom had no lightbulb in the fitting. The housekeeping firm turned up shortly after our arrival to drop off some additional welcome items and we reported the issues to them. They sent the owners of the housekeeping firm to assist and the hot water was fixed, the kitchen sink waste pipe was tightened by hand (which we had already done) and they promised to drop off a lightbulb the following day. The housekeeping firm were pleasant and helpful but unfortunately, the kitchen sink leaked for the remainder of our stay and the bedroom lightbulb was never delivered. There was minimal welcome information provided by the apartment owners, so we had no information regarding what to do with rubbish, what could be recycled (or how or where), or how to leave the premises with regard to stripping bedding or towels (significantly important during the pandemic to help protect the housekeeping firm). The Appliance Instruction folder did not contain details on how the washing machine worked and which settings to use. There was no information to explain that there was a boiler room for the property where items such as wet-suits or beach equipment could be stored during the stay (we were told this verbally by the housekeepers). The property appeared to have been refurbished/change of owner prior to our stay and whilst some of the equipment and furniture was new, some of the final details had not been completed etc: one of the kitchen cupboards was only attached by one hinge, the kick-board under the dishwasher did not fit, so caught every time the dishwasher was opened and ended up flicking off and had to be re-fitted by us, the kitchen sink leaked and there was no-where to hang damp towels after use (i.e. a clothes horse for the utility room) and so towels stayed damp after use. The fridge had not been fitted properly and so moved every time the door was closed - it was also tiny and impractical for use and the ice box could not be used for some reason. On the positive side, the apartment was well located for the stay and had been pleasantly furnished and kitted-out.

I'm very sorry for your experience, we have looked into this and discovered that the Sykes photographer had been in after our cleaner to take photos of the property. Since then we have worked with the property manager to ensure that the house is spotless going forwards and have taken steps to rectify the recycling issue, we have also put a clothes horse in the property and have mended the sink. We have also addressed the other points you have raised. As you were our first guests in the property unfortunately it seems there were some teething issues which I am now assured have been resolved. I hope you enjoyed your stay nonetheless and will consider Trevena again in the future. Property Owner
