  • "Had a really enjoyable stay, accommodation was comfortable and kitchen was well equipped."

Quite a cold week so had problems putting on heating but call to maintenance sorted this out. Close to Donkey Sanctuary but had to drive to get to other attractions. All staff really friendly and helpful would definitely come back in coming back to area.

  • "Whilst the accommodation was basic and needed a little TLC in places overall it suited our needs."

We had a dog and the enclosed patio suited us well and the surrounding area was great for a late last minute walk. The pub on site was fantastic and the serving staff were absolutely great. The only suggestion I would make is that the 2nd bathroom had a shower as we were 4 adults sharing and the lack of a 2nd shower made the main bathroom redundant which was a shame.

  • "Cleanliness of property very poor, many cobwebs above light fittings, scum around plug holes, dust/cobwebs between furniture and skirting boards, no working lightbulb in bathroom had to buy one for £3, no glass plate in microwave however this was replaced day after when I text the maintenance chap which was good, he advised me previous people broke it and he brought a new one following day which was fair enough, floating cigarettes in ashtray outside on patio table in rain water which wasn’t pleasant at all."

Have photos to show should you/owners want these. Nice location, nice lodge park, quiet bar area which was nice to have a drink in prior to arrival. Not much lounge seating area for 8 people which the house is supposed to accommodate but was just flipping between sofa and dining table and chairs which wasn’t a problem really. Will book through Sykes again but wouldn’t recommend the house.

  • "The house is spacious and well equipped."

there are only 2 minor problems, the incredibly noisy staircase which is so loud it can disturb sleeping children and the noise from the pipes when somebody flushes the upstairs toilet both of which need addressing. Apart from this we were very happy with the property, location and facilities

  • "Very expensive for a week in this place."

Information book in lodge states ‘furnished to a high standard’. Not sure the person who wrote this knows what high standard is! The pipes make a terrible groaning noise when upstairs toilet is flushed, waking the whole house. Kitchen floor, worktops and bathroom fittings are dated & grubby. The carpets need replacing, they are ill fitting & patchy (damp maybe) Curtains haven’t been taken up in lounge/dining room so look naff & don’t hang straight. Kettle old & dirty - needs replacing. Windows were filthy! Would not waste money going here just for the use of pool & gym. The site is a bit tired. Good points - beds comfy, lots of plates, cups etc. clean bedding. Nice area.

Accommodation was excellent. Facilities on site were good. The only negative for us with kids was no WiFi .

  • "We had a brilliant time in this cottage over the Christmas period."

The house is situated in a beautiful part of Cornwall and the swimming pool and games room were a very welcome bonus. My kids loved it. Do beware though; children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. A huge shame because my older children wanted to go swimming every day, me not so much...but this rule has obviously nothing to do with the owners of the cottage, just a park rule. The house itself was spacious, lovely, clean and well equipped. Plenty of parking space. Kevin the handyman was very nice and stopped by to see if everything was ok. The only two things I would change are: there were only two medium sized saucepans (and one was without a lid), a small and medium frying pan. That’s not a lot of pans when cooking for 5 people. Crockery, glasses and cutlery in abduance though. The slats of two of the beds are damaged, if anyone sits on the foot of those beds they fall through the slats. Kevin said he will look at the beds though. All in all we had a great time and we will definitely come back next year! (If you would like to go for a walk on Dartmoor moors, I can highly recommend going to Pew Tor and Windy Cross Post. It’s only half an hour drive from the cottage and so, so beautiful. It is an easy walk, there are many wild horses and a beautiful stream. We visited the Dartmoor Prison Museum afterwards, it was a 10 minute drive from Pew Tor)

  • "No 17 Dartmoor is better inside than the picture implies."

Well appointed kitchen, clean and comfortable beds and the whole place has a nice relaxed feel about it. The swimming pool, games room and fitness centre on site are an added bonus. The reception staff were very helpful. My only criticism was that the bins near our Lodge only accepted general waste and there was no opportunity to separate the rubbish for recycling. Otherwise a great location and plenty of things in the area to do.

  • "Accommodation as expected for a holiday home."

Plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses. Oven trays need replacing. Some areas in need of attention; curtain track in downstairs double bedroom hanging off wall. Dressing with curtains that don't close properly and window facing main pathway was a challenge. Downstairs shower room door, lock did not work and as week progressed door handle became more difficult to use resulting in people being trapped inside or not being able to get in. With small children access to toilet was important! Slats on one of single beds upstairs were damaged, if anyone sat on end of bed they were likely to go through the slats. Vacuum cleaner would have been useful, there is only a limited amount of cleaning possible with a hand brush and shovel.

  • "We have had a nice holiday, we used the house as a base so didn't spend a lot of time there."

The holiday house can do with a bit of updating, we have 3 bigger children, but I wouldn't like to let a baby crawl round on the floor. The children enjoyed the pool onside and enjoyed having the playpark opposite, the tennis courts beside us and a big open space near the house as well.

  • "Very good value for money accommodation."

Would have been helpful to have a list of useful information - ie. access to the onsite swimming pool, how to use the oven, manage the central heating etc. But the person given in the contact details phoned us back immediately when we left a message, and was very helpful. Spare lightbulbs also needed!! All in all a lovely holiday on a very peaceful site. Holiday house was spacious, clean bedding and towels provided, and very comfortable beds.
