  • "Really nice property in a very rural setting."

Journey times to coast and places if interest slightly longer than I had expected on country lanes. Owners very welcoming. Enjoyed stay.

  • "This property is in an idealic setting with everything you need for a comfortable stay - a car is definitely required, but how nice to escape the busyness and relax."

The lounge is superb with all the comforts and mod cons - big screen, surround sound, large corner sofa. Owners responded quickly to any issues or questions. Would highly recommend

  • "We had a lovely time at Ogbeare Barn where we stayed for a week in June 2021."

The cottage exceeded our expectations and was even more beautiful than the photos on the website. The views and the surrounding areas are amazing. The cottage had everything we needed and more for a perfect stay. The host was also very thoughtful and attentive. We would definitely recommend and hope to visit again in the future. • "A very nice cottage, lovely views, clean and considerate but not in your face owners next door."

Make sure you follow owners directions not say nav! We didn’t and one of our cars ended up grounded and with damage. Great location for adventuring out, very good pictures on line but it makes it look bigger than it actually is though. Comfy beds, full inventory and eggs and biscuits on arrival just missing an ironing board and anywhere to iron .Also super fast broadband absent all week, no EE phone signal , tv great but lots of buffering due to poor broadband! Couldn’t get dryer to work and wash machine failed once. All in all though a nice cottage and a pleasant stay and we were fortunate to have great weather - although the lake of air con or fans made it too hot to sleep etc. Would still recommend just take on board our honest feedback Thank you

Many thanks for your feedback, we are glad you had a nice time and enjoyed meeting you. We have now provided a new ironing board and several cooling fans. The phone signals can be patchy on some networks in this rural area. The Superfast broadband is working well and we are not sure why there was a problem during your stay, this is unusual. The washing machine has now been checked by an electrician and is working fine. Property Owner

  • "A well designed property let down a little by the lay out."

The bedrooms looked out on to the owners garden and property. The deck area was alongside a barn full of silage. The only open aspect is from the kitchen.

Many thanks for your 93% rating, we're glad you had a great time. Built in the 1850s as part of a barn complex for a farm, the cottage was converted about ten years ago. Some of the windows at the back of the cottage face part of our garden but most of the rooms are dual aspect with views over the cottage's own private garden. The kitchen-dining room and decking also have lovely views over the Ogbeare valley and woodlands. The cottage is next door to a small farm and occasionally they store hay in the barn that sits beyond the cottage garden wall (it is shrink-wrapped and does not smell) Property Owner

  • "Lovely old converted farm building on a secluded private estate near Holsworthy."

The owner was extremely helpful, providing detailed directions to find the property and also checked on a regular basis during the holiday. This is a well equipped and spacious property surrounded by beautiful countryside. The property is well equipped and has under floor heating so really nice and cosy after walking in the autumn winds. If you want to be away from other people and enjoy a remote location this is definitely the place for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our break in north Cornwall and found lots of places to enjoy great food and long walks. Would highly recommend the property especially if you are looking for peace and quiet but you will need a car there is no public transport.

  • "Fantastic week."

Very nice and well presented cottage. The quality of the furniture and appliances is much better than expected. It was good to have the owners nearby for assistance, not that much was needed. I would highly recommend this cottage. Only advice is, make sure you know how to locate South Drive and do not use East Drive (which the sat nav will try and use) as it is only fit for tractors.

  • "Ogbeare Barn Cottage is a comfortable and well equipped home from home."

Set in peaceful countryside it has spectacular views across the valley with plenty of wildlife to watch including deer, buzzards, house martins and pheasants. The owners live next door and are very helpful - we would definitely recommend it.

  • "The cottage is lovely, but is way off the map, so perhaps should be made clear that it is at least twenty five mins drive to any of the closest towns."

The WiFi at the cottage is dreadful, falls out of signal very regularly. I understand that is in hand to be upgraded. Also the TV signal was pretty bad; BBC was unobtainable most of time as the weather was pretty bad for the first five days. It would have been good to be able to cosy down and watch some.

Thank you for your feedback. I am delighted to confirm that from the end of 2019, we now have Superfast Broadband in the cottage, together with a new Smart TV. Clearly we are in a rural location and the vast majority of our guests comment on the peace and tranquillity and wonderful views that this affords - this of course would not be the case if we were in a town. Nevertheless, Bude, Holsworthy and Launceston are easily accessible within 20-25 minutes, and within about 10 minutes’ drive there is an excellent general store/restaurant/bar/post office in Whitstone, as well as other amenities such as pubs and a farm shop. And you can often buy fresh farm produce straight from the local farms. “ Property Owner

Quite remote but thats its charm, there is a long drive up from the road. Somewhere to unwind.

  • "A really lovely barn conversion in a beautiful setting tucked away, very peaceful and comfortable."

The beds were extremely comfortable. Being on a working farm was loved by the family especially the youngest member who was very excited with seeing the sheep being herded for shearing. We were 5 adults, 1 small child and a dog. Personally I feel a bigger fridge and possibly a cupboard to put groceries in would help to cater for all our needs.

Many thanks for your kind comments, we are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Ogbeare Barn cottage. I am very pleased to let you know that we have now installed a larger freestanding fridge-freezer and this has allowed us to provide more cupboards in the kitchen units to accommodate groceries Property Owner

About the location

BUDE

Tintagel 17 miles.

Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
