  • "We really enjoyed our stay at trevena lodge it was suitable for the whole family."

The views are stunning and Matt was very helpful and gave some good advise about where to visit.

  • "Myself and my daughter had stayed at this property many times before, when it used to be a guest house."

So it really was a home from home to bring the extended family here now it is one large, self catering property. It was beautifully clean, comfortable and very well equipped, and is perfectly placed in magical Tintagel. We all had a wonderful holiday, and have already booked to return next year.

  • "The property was in an excellent location within a short distance of all the amenities of Tintagel, plenty to explore locally by foot and many other destinations by car."

The property itself was very comfortable and provided everything you needed for a great holiday with the added bonus of a large hot tub. The host Matt was very friendly and close by for any possible queries.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Trevenna Lodge in Tintagel."

The house was clean and of a high standard and the owner was very helpful with everything we required. We made thorough use of the hot tub in the accomodation - taking good soaks in it especially after the long walks. This is an excellent location to enjoy the coastal walks and also the local town pubs and eating places. We completed 3 excellent hikes around the area where we didn't have to get in the car at all.

  • "We had a really comfortable stay."

A quiet location at the end of a no-through road, which is wonderfully equipped, tastefully presented and clean. Hot tub a real asset. Well equipped for large parties. Lots of useful information on site, maps etc about the locality. Cliff path starts just round the corner, with beaches at low tide 45 minutes walk either way. (A good idea to work out implication of the tides straight away.) A towel in the downstairs loo was all we can suggest by way of improvements. Matt very helpful.

  • "Great family cottage."

Plenty of bathrooms to cater for everyone. The kitchen is really well equipped with lots of fridge space & freezer.we had a shopping delivery for when we arrived which helped as only limited choices in local Spar. Lots of lovely pubs but couldn’t get it for meals as fully booked but they also wouldn’t take bookings for a large group but we bbq at the house so wasn’t a problem. Matt was fantastic in sorting out any problems & was very friendly. We travelled out to beaches everyday & the children were always excited to go back to the holiday house & hot tub Would highly recommend this cottage for a family holiday .

  • "We have just returned from the fabulous Trevena Lodge."

What a great house for getting together with the family. Ages ranged from 8 months to 62 years! Plenty of room for us all to spread out and good comfortable areas for us all to be together. The kitchen is very well equipped and big enough to take several chefs and helpers! Great utility and storage room available as well as a games room. Two fridges and a freezer and an oven big enough to cater for us all. We loved the hot tub after a day at the beach or walking along the cliffs. Matt the owner was on hand to help with any problems but on this occasion there were none. Plenty of games, maps and books of local interest available in the house. A short walk into Tintagel where there are local shops and a great chippy!

  • "The house was fantastic."

A great location and all you need for a comfortable stay. The hottub was a great addition too. The owner, who lives next door, couldn't be more accommodating or welcoming- a really nice man. Location really was perfect. Some nice coffee shops especially King Arthur's cafe. There are a few pubs to choose from some are more interesting than others but the Olde Malthouse was by far the best. Great holiday.

  • "I had my 75th birthday here with hubby, two daughters, one son-in-law and five teenage grandchildren."

The location is superb for surfing beaches a short drive away, King Arthur’s castle ruins and amazing new bridge. Etc. The house exceeded our expectations in many ways but in a couple of others didn’t. However the owner, who lives next door was always on hand to answer queries and more than ready to take on board our suggestions. We were only his second guests since he took it on and so was keen to hear any slight quibbles and to put them right for future guests. The info from Sykes about the house was a bit misleading with the Covid instructions. They said there would be no cushions on the sofas and that there would be no games, maps, books etc. All these things were there so we needn’t have brought our own. It also states that there is a beach 200 metres away! No there isn’t! The sea might be but not a useable beach. Also we assumed, wrongly, that as it is a big house it would have a reasonable size garden. So we brought a gazebo but there was nowhere to put it up. The outdoor space is tiny with the hot tub taking up half and a BBQ and two benches with small table the rest. So if you have a BBQ meal you really need a table and chairs to eat it at outside. The hot tub is a luxury but we felt a garden dining set would be more useful. Also there is nowhere outdoors to dry wet swimmers, towels or washing although an electric drier and clothes horse indoors is provided inside. A rack for wetsuits is outside the front with a hose which is handy. The house itself is very well appointed and tastefully decorated with no lack of seafaring themed ornaments and wall pictures. The kitchen fantastic for catering for large numbers and a very comfy lounge. All bathrooms are great with endless hot water for those after beach showers, even all going at once! The bed I was in did sag in the middle rather and gave me a backache for the first half an hour each morning but maybe my age had something to do with it. Matt the owner was so friendly and helpful that I don’t want to upset him but felt that these comments might help those people thinking of booking up at Trevena Lodge. Oh and the view from sitting on the loo in my en-suite was the best I have ever experienced! We managed to avoid the crowds to avoid the Covid and altogether we had a super holiday and I had a memorable birthday!

Really felt like we had our own private hotel (which I believe the house used to be) All the rooms were very spacious and en suite bathrooms were modern. House was spotlessly clean. Hot tub was a great feature enjoyed by all of the family but especially the younger ones.

About the location

TINTAGEL

Camelford 5.9 miles; Wadebridge 13 miles.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the SW Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and in 2.5 miles is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow and the Camel Estuary are all within a 40-minute drive.
