The property
Perfectly located for touring the dramatic coastline of North Cornwall, this cosy yet spacious 250-year-old cottage is set in the village of Delabole, just one mile from the coast and six miles from Port Isaac.
Immediately on entering Horseshoe Cottage, you sense its history and character through its beamed ceilings, slate floors, open fire and woodburner.
Beautifully furnished throughout, there are two individual bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, whilst downstairs you will find a well-equipped kitchen with slate floors and a log burner, plus a spacious, comfortable sitting room with an open fire and a dining area.
A small patio area, The Herbery, is at the side of the cottage and a real suntrap, perfect for a drink at the end of the day.
Delabole lies within Cornwall’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is, itself, steeped in history.
It has a King George V playing field and is home to the oldest working slate quarry in the world, where tours are available.
Close by is Treligga Downs, which afford the most amazing views both up and down the coast, and the surfing beach at Tregardock, which is well worth the walk.
One must-visit is the village of Port Isaac, a short drive away, made famous by the filming of TV's Doc Martin, and frequently used as a set for the Poldark series.
With a range of Cornwall's best beaches all within a short drive, and ample opportunities for walking, cycling, golf and fishing, Horseshoe Cottage is the ideal base for a holiday in this historic area of Cornwall, at any time of year.
