  • "The service from Sykes cottage was excellent."

This was an unplanned last minute booking for us. They were very helpful when trying to accommodate my need for linen and towels. The property it's self was in a perfect location, it's disappointing that it doesn't have any linen or towels considering it has such an excellent laundry. The property does need a deep clean though, there were cobwebs across all the windows inside, the floor in the living room had not been cleaned and you could see all the dust and crumbs under the settee. This didn't put us off though as we were able to clean it ourselves. The house was a perfect size so no other complaints If anyone stopping needs a laundry company I would highly recomend KN Laundry Cornwall and it is situated on the way to the house or they deliver.

We are very pleased you were able to stay at Lerryn and enjoy your short break in Cornwall. We advertise the property without linen or towels and John Bray will happily arrange for these to be put on the beds for you with a bit of notice. We are sorry that the cleaning has not been up to the normal John Bray standard. The caretaker that has been looking after Lerryn for the past few years has unfortunately left, and a temporary cleaner was brought in at late notice. I am pleased to say we now have Chantelle as our new caretaker who is one of John Bray's 5* cleaners. I have also spoken to the Quality Assessor at John Bray who will be going to check the cleans and report back to me to make sure standards are maintained. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property and lots of space."

Very very clean. The whole family enjoyed the time in Rock. Only real area of concern is the sliding doors from the kitchen to the garden. This was too difficult for most of us to slide and open and would have struggled if we didn’t have strong members of our party. These do need fixing. The beds are comfortable however the bedrooms could do with decorating. Thank you.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your time in Rock and found the property lovely. We’re sorry that you had trouble with the folding sliding doors. On investigation the top hinge had been pull off. It has now been fixed. Property Owner

  • "Having used John bray for approximately 15yrs we were extremely disappointed with this property."

The bedrooms all smelt of dog urine and were musty..our miniature Jack Russell (bitch) is fully house trained and although we travel with a dog this is the first time staying in a dog friendly cottage that smelt of urine in the bedrooms where dogs are supposedly not allowed . Tired dirty carpets old furniture no headboard on master bed and single beds in front bedroom . We’ve come to expect a far higher standard than this with John bray. The iron also had to be reported on arrival as it was it such a terrible state (looked like a safety hazard) which was replaced promptly. For once we were grateful to leave the property at the end of our stay. The living area was the only saving Grace. We most definitely would not return! Extremely disappointed…I also have photos of the disgusting state of the duvet in the other main bedroom which is fit for one thing …the bin.. it had multiple large questionable stains on it .. we had to use another duvet… however under no circumstances should that particular duvet have been there for people to use… utterly disgraceful and a hugely disappointing stay… this property needs serious attention in the bedrooms. I’d be interested to hear your response to these issues.

While we appreciate feedback, we are disappointed by your poor opinion of our property. - Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms which do not smell, and certainly not of dog urine. - The photos advertising the property show which bedrooms have headboards and also what type and style of furniture is in each room. - The iron, like all of the electrical appliances, is checked annually as per regulations. However, on your request, a new iron was promptly delivered to you. - We apologies for the issue with the duvet, which has been replaced. This should have been picked up by the caretaking team as part of their changeover checks. The Owners Property Owner

  • "The place was lovely alot of room and is in a lovely little quiet village everyone was friendly."

The only downfall I'd say is we had reported that the ensuite toilet was broken and no bags for recycling bin to skyes cottages and no one came. If a cleaning team go in between visits then they need to improve as cobwebs were everywhere and there was also an bottle from visitors before us under one of the beds and the fridge looked as though it hadn't been cleaned either, for the price I'd expect it to be looked after better and I think the owner would too as they would be paying alot of money to the company

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are so pleased that overall, you enjoyed your stay at Lerryn. I am so glad you enjoyed the village and that you found everyone to be very friendly. Thank you for sharing your feedback on cleanliness, I know this has been directly addressed with our housekeeping team who will speak with the cleaner personally to ensure that this is addressed moving forward. We also have a team of property checkers that go in following the clean to ensure that nothing is missed, and this will also be raised with them so that cleanliness ensures are not missed in future. We are sorry that was your experience on this occasion but are grateful to have the opportunity to rectify the issues. With regards to the ensuite toilet seat I am very sorry that this was not attended to during your stay, we will ensure that maintenance issues are addressed much more promptly in the future. This is by no means a reflection of our service and I am sorry that we did not attend quickly, and I hope it did not impact your stay overall. The owner has also addressed these issues with us directly to ensure that we are indeed looking after his property correctly so that his guests can enjoy it. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your feedback with us and I do hope that we get to welcome you back to Cornwall very soon. • "Lerryn is so well located for local amenities as well as a great base for exploring this stunning area of Cornwall."

The property was plenty spacious enough for two families and the living quarters/kitchen diner really is lovely and generous. Saying all that, there are a few recommendations for improvement. The bedrooms do smell damp, the shower in the utility didn’t work and dripped all week, the BBQ grill was filthy on arrival and the BBQ in general is on its last legs. For two families the fridge/freezer could be twice the size but we coped. The main inconvenience however was the fact that no linen is provided. Despite Sykes Customer Services strangely telling me bath mats were included there was actually nothing; we ended up using our only self-provided hand towel as a bath mat! Lastly, clarity on recycling would be welcomed as the kitchen notice board and bins all stated different collection days. All in all a great property with so much potential, just needs a bit of TLC and the finishing touches.

Thank you for leaving an overall positive review. However, we are sorry you found a few recommendations for improvement. The BBQ should have been kept clean by previous guests - it has now been replaced. On arrival at the property, should there be any maintenance issues (like the utility shower), please contact Sykes, who will send out maintenance staff. There should have been bathmats in each bath/shower room, and we have contacted Sykes to see why this wasn’t the case on your arrival. Again, we ask customers to contact Sykes if there are issues such as this as these can be rectified. The web page for Lerryn has information where linen can be hired ahead of a holiday, should customers wish to take up this service. Bins are collected by a private recycling company and do not need to be left by the kerb, which renders the bin day unimportant, and we will ask Sykes to make this clear in the Lerryn Guest Folder. We value your feed back as we rely on Sykes to maintain standards. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Owner. Property Owner

  • "Lerryn was just perfect for our family holiday."

Obviously you can’t take any credit for the most amazing weather, but having the outdoor eating area and the bi fold doors really made it! As a self catering property some new frying pans and sharp kitchen knives would be a welcome addition , but otherwise we found everything we needed. Thank you also for allowing a dog. We hope to return.

Thank you ever so much for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back in the near future. Property Owner

  • "Great location it just needs a little bit of a make over."

The outside looks really tired, the damp in the twin room is really bad and most of the furniture is falling to bits. The kitchen/diner and the bathrooms are really nice.

Thank you for your feedback. The outside has been scheduled for redecoration, which has now been completed for the new season. While it can sometimes get chilly in the front twin bedroom, inspections have shown no sign of damp. An additional portable radiator is provided which makes the room cozy. One dining chair was broken and seemed to have gone unreported, for which we must apologise. This is now fixed. No other furniture is broken. We value your feedback as we endeavour to keep Lerryn to the highest standards. Property Owner
