  • "Dining table top requires sanding back & varnish as was marked & sticky in patches when we walked in."

    No matching plates or bowls for four let alone eight & lots of crockery chipped. Sealant inside shower door mouldy & peeling. Whole bungalow required redecoration & carpets shampooing. I received an email from the owner enquiring if I would like to rebook with either him or via a different agent whom he is changing to which I found highly unprofessional.

  • "Overall Medway is a very good place to spend a holiday, however we would make the following comments."

    1.Not supplying laundry is an inconvenience which people do not need on holiday. 2.the back garden is not safe for dogs as their are openings down both sides of the property to a very busy road. 3. The hot water is set far to high, someone, ( a child?) will get scalded at current setting. 4. In poor weather conditions, (as we had) it would be helpful if the TV had a "smart" chip, (cost £30?) to allow guests more choice for entertainment. In conclusion we had a enjoyable stay at Medway.

  • "The first week was very warm- when we got the sun beds out they were broken- we bought some strong ‘cable’ and repaired them so they were fit for use."

  • "We have had a very comfortable stay."

    We did purchase and leave a few extra kitchen utensils. Generally though this is a superb bungalow - very practical and we love it.

  • "We have stayed at Medway several times, it suits our purpose & particularly grateful that it takes dogs."

    The large kitchen/dining room & utility room are ideal. Given it was the week running up to Easter it was extremely expensive, only two of us go now so 3 bedrooms are not used, therefore, in future we will probably look for something smaller & cheaper which is a shame. We were astounded at having to pay 2 lots of £35 to take our 2 dogs. We have been using John Bray for some 40 years, the last 23 with 2 dogs & this is the first time we have had to pay for each. The property, whilst comfortable & clean, is due a facelift. A pair of scissors & tin opener were both showing signs of rust but the property is fairly well equipped. Ideal garden but not dog safe as the sides are open, not a problem for our dogs but could be for others.

  • "We love this bungalow which is why we stay here so often."

    We have suggested recently that the hob needs upgrading as one ring doesn’t work( back left)and it is slow compared to more modern induction hobs. That aside a very practical bungalow that works for all sorts of family dynamics. Gill

  • "We had a great time."

    Sun came out as well! The property exactly suited a family, especially as there were very few nick nacks around liable to being broken or mislaid. All white goods worked very well. I do hope other families also find Medway as pleasing

The property

Medway is a conveniently positioned, three-bedroom bungalow resting in the centre of Rock in North Cornwall, very close to the local shops including a newsagent, bakery, butcher, and a fishmonger.

With a secure, west-facing garden, with rear views over open countryside, Medway is also located near wonderful beaches, golf courses, and the Camel Estuary, making it an ideal base for a family getaway.

The home benefits from two king-size bedrooms, both with en suites for additional privacy; one even has French doors leading out to the sun terrace.

Twin beds and bunk beds make up the further two bedrooms, both serviced by a bathroom and cloakroom.

The rear garden includes a patio/sun terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue, perfect for family gatherings after stocking up in the nearby shops and delicatessen; nothing beats fresh local mackerel!

You can also bring your four-legged friends along (by arrangement) and take them down to the dog friendly beaches of Rock and Daymer Bay.

Golfers are spoilt for choice here as they can benefit from the beautiful course at St Enodoc or in the other direction, The Point at Polzeath, which also has spa, gym, tennis, and swimming pool facilities.

Walkers can set out to explore the stunning views from the coastal paths with a choice of easy or arduous routes, whilst for surfing and bodyboarding, Polzeath beach is a must, with surf lessons and equipment to hire by the hour.

Rock itself has a few lovely spots for evening dining, and when you have tried those, why not take the ferry to the fishing port of Padstow with pubs and restaurants aplenty.

To journey home late at night, you'll need to call on the water taxi to whisk you back across the river, a truly memorable end to a wonderful evening.

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.
