  • "We had a fantastic stay at Elmwood."

The house was modern, exceptionally clean, well presented, just as the photos show and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Beds comfortable with lovely linen. Elmwood is in a pretty hamlet within a short drive to all the lovely beaches and places we wanted to visit close by and reasonably priced in comparison to others in more central locations. We actually preferred coming back to the peacefulness after a busy day than being in the busier areas that we have stayed previously. There aren’t any shops within walking distance but a great farm shop with all the essentials you need a 5 minute drive away. We will definitely be booking again.

  • "Loved our stay at Elmwood and will be back again."

Everything is just as the photos, really lovely, clean and modern with lots of little touches that make it feel homely but still with the feeling of a holiday house near the sea. We found it had everything we were looking for at a reasonable price. The garden is peaceful and quiet and lovely to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine. You do need a car but everything is within easy reach and a short drive away. We found Trelights a good location in the middle of and not far at all from the popular spots that we visited , Port Isaac, Polzeath, Rock , ferry to Padstow. We enjoyed walking down to the pretty little cove of Port Quin which was a lovely 20 min countryside walk from the house where you can join the costal path and walk all the way to Port Isaac or Polzeath in the other direction if you enjoy walking which we did a couple of times. Everything was lovely and we will be looking forward to our next visit.

  • "Beautifully presented property but has some irritating features."

On our arrival no welcome pack . I appreciate the economic pressures we are living in but I think at least a pint of milk in the fridge would not break the bank . The microwave is very small and only 600w really inadequate. The crockery very basic Ikea therefore chipped plate and teapot should be replaced . Broken blind in one bedroom , blood stain on a duvet cover concealed under a throw . Bath towels small standard size . No information pack provided by the owner with basic info regarding local facilities, places of interest and bin recycling collection/regulations .I know this is not essential but we have always found this useful.

Thank you for your feedback where possible we have taken issues on board and rectified where able to do so as always strive for our guests to have as comfortable and enjoyable stay as possible. We are very disappointed to hear there was a stain on a duvet cover. All linen is new and high standards of laundry are expected at all times. There is spare linen at the property so if this was ever a problem in future housekeeping would be able to replace if informed. We are very sorry though this was not up to our high normal standards. The chipped plate and tea pot will be replaced and also larger bath towels been purchased. Blind has been fixed . Bins have labels regarding requests for recycling etc so hopefully these were clear During covid all information packs were taken from the property but we will look to replacing this with local information as suggested. We have always found the microwave adequate for own use but am sorry you didnt find it big enough. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope you enjoyed your stay at Elmwood despite the issues you mentioned and am glad to hear you felt it was beautifully presented. - The owners Property Owner

  • "Lovely property but expensive."

Master bedroom needs a new mattress, too soft. Shower didn’t give hot shower, even when on full, just lukewarm, although the hot tap was hot. Water leaked from that shower (shower seal) near bedroom door. Dining table chairs were uncomfortable and impractical for the larger person. Garden table was not stable, chairs not the most comfortable Cold water tap in the kitchen gave a loud screeching noise, we got the plumber out who blamed the local water boards water stoppage, which led to air locks, went away whilst he was there but came back soon after.we had to wedge a bottle of soap underneath the tap to stop it, needs looking at, we have a video if needed. Thistles on the lawn made it difficult baby, also overhanging nettles could be an issue. Other improvements could be more full length mirrors , additional hanging space in the superking size bedroom. Bath towels could be bigger. The above list seems long, but would lift the overall level of offering. We still enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your feedback and bringing to our attention issue of shower and tap these have now been rectified. Unfortunately mattresses are a personal preference and we are sorry the master bedroom mattress wasn't to your liking. It is though a new mattress and was chosen for its 5 start comfort rating. There are firmer mattresses in 2 of the other bedrooms for preference so hope one may be found to be of personal liking. Thank you again for your feedback we always strive to make Elmwood as comfortable and nice as possible for our guests. - The owner Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous stay at Elmwood thank you."

It was clean and had everything we needed. We have a 'grown up' family now and are a group of 7 adults but there was plenty of room and we never felt on top of each other or cramped even on movie nights when we were all in the living room together. Elmwood is in a lovely private location with plenty of parking ( we had 3 cars) and within easy reach of some fabulous days out. Thanks again.

  • "Elmwood is a stunning and luxurious house, very modern and a pleasure to stay in."

However, it does not have a conventional heating system and was ridiculously hot. Rooms were generally 26 to 28 degrees. There was no way to turn the heating down and it made sleeping difficult!

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay, however we are sorry to hear you had a bad experience with the heating, we will look into this. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner
