  • "The property was spotless, I was very pleased because I had my grandchildren staying with me."

We could not find a tin opener and our last night we could not use the hot tub, due to the small of stagnant water. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Sharon.

  • "Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Strawberry Cottage It's a light and airy property with a wonderfully comfortable front room and a well equipped kitchen."

Very clean and spacious and with ample room to spread out and relax. We loved the location and the aesthetic and being able to get the car backed up into the carport (albeit not fully) was a welcome addition. Overall, really fantastic and a very relaxing place - especially when including the opportunity to use Sky and Netflix of an evening. Only a few cons really and one of which is our personal taste. All the mattresses in the property tended to the incredibly "soft / bouncy" so if your preference is for a harder mattress this will be a bit of an adjustment and secondly, the hot tub cover is split meaning that whenever it rains (which during our stay it did non stop anyway) the tub will fill with rain water (as it's not covered over) and get very cold. Didn't affect us personally due to the weather being unsuitable for using it anyway - but thought I'd point it out. Oh and (Colombo-esque) one last thing, the frying pans are a bit bowed in the middle (just makes them a bit unstable during use) - but that's honestly nitpicking a little. Overall, a thoroughly recommended location with a wonderful view over the town to the hill opposite and a comforting atmosphere to relax in. Thanks for such a wonderful stay.

We were slightly disappointed with the state of inside some of the kitchen cupboards and bedroom drawers when we went to unpack, however once I’d cleaned them, we were happy with the rest of it. It’s a short walk into the town area with a good pub being about a 5 minute walk. The owner was very helpful when we had a problem with the internet, which was due to the storm, so absolutely outside her control but she still helped and kept us updated on the situation, thank you.

  • "Besides the miss communication on my behalf regarding a clean for the second week."

There was only a couple of discrepancies one the radio/stereo in one room did not work and the Internet kept phasing in and out possibly due to high demand. The other was parking outside the front as there was a local lad who kept parking his car in the front doorway which in turn had an effect on other neighbours whom were in a predicament due to my car having to be in there way .

  • "We travelled to this special hot tub property because it was myself and my better halves anniversary and I wanted to surprise her from the off."

We arrived there on the Saturday and the facilities were great and we were happy. The hot tub though wasn’t working for a number of days and although the owner was very responsive, there wasn’t any empathy in her texts/correspondence considering that this feature was an intended anniversary present (mentioned in my initial text to her) The owner did offer to pass me over to Sykes though for them to perhaps schedule another property that had an hot tub. After speaking to Chloe at Sykes, who went above and beyond in her communication with me, I decided to stick it out and stay put. I didn’t receive a good will payment from the owner which would’ve been nice but Chloe at Sykes has since refunded the booking fee I had paid to Sykes to the tune of around £50 which was a pleasant surprise and I will definitely be booking my next getaway with them. Thank you Chloe :)

  • "Overall review."

+positives & -negatives Porch - The porch just needs cleaning. cobwebs, leaves and an empty glass on arrival. Looks tired. Carport - Pillar to pillar it is 89 1/2 inches, there is a recess behind the pillars but very tight as others have mentioned. Could not get toddler in car seat if car is in car port, let alone unload the car from the doors. We unloaded through the boot. This isn't owners fault just a fact. No on street parking as the locals & residents use it. Came back one day to someone parked across the front of the house. Again not the owners fault just a simple fact to note. Entrance Hallway - Smells damp / musty on entrance but it is subterranean, to be expected to a degree Downstairs bedroom - Partner slept here a couple of nights and noticed blood stained duvet, large dinner plate sized stains, when stripping down the beds on the morning of departure. + cooler that upstairs Downstairs en-suite - The shower hose to head was held together at the head with masking tape. And leaked. we informed the cleaner who informed the owner who denied knowledge of it, and sent a plumber out the day before we left to replace the hose. The base of the shower tray is falling apart, can see on Rightmove neighbour has same en suite set which means is what was installed when house built in 2010. Ran dehumidifier entire time to help with musty smell + Excellent water pressure! Kitchen - No salt or pepper shakers empty (we should have been more prepared) The fridge is savage, it froze our salad. ( The house manual says don’t touch the temperature settings ) Oven rubber seal broken / loose so doesn’t keep heat in effectively. - quick search on Rightmove shows kitchen to be what was originally installed in 2010 when house built. Extractor dirty / not extracting efficiently Tops of cupboard doors are sticky.. + Decent Biscuits and tea Good size Water pressure good Clean overall Toaster is efficient! Lounge - Internet connection poor - “weak security” router possibly needs firmware update as Wi-Fi doesn’t work properly throughout property. Even sat next to router. therefore the sky on demand serices are limited to reception available at the time + Large size Comfy / squishy sofas, probably because they are from 2009 as the label indicates sky tv when it works. Upstairs bathroom - Tired Cracked paint by bath Could do with new silicone around floor and bath There’s a soft spot in front of bath which seems like broken floorboard maybe? + Good size Clean Bedroom upstairs with window - Found a battery under the left side table . Have left on kitchen table. Not toddler safe, choking hazards. also Found big clump of hair and sanitary towel paper wrapper under bed on right side. Found a Childs tennis racket toy under the downstairs bed, a red bead & reciepts from 2021 and 2022. Underneath side tables and inside sofas found food wrappers, also left on kitchen table. Shows large furniture not hoovered, checked beneath for 2 years. Bedroom upstairs door to patio - Wardrobe handle came off as soon as tried to open the door. Room not laid out very well, gap from radiator to bed 8 inches and bed to wall 10 1/2 inches, to get to the hot tub you must squeeze past this gap or go over the bed. Silicone around doors mouldy + Lots of plug sockets Swapped lamps from downstairs to up as they are fancy and have usb plugs built in. Garden - Windows need washing. The trickle vents especially Could do with a once over with a jet washer + Hot tub. Used Sunday for 1 hour - great first impression. Went to use Tuesday and it was slimy and smelly, notified the owner. Wednesday owner sent lady out to have a look at it as wouldn’t turn on and to change the filter and check chemicals. Owner said we "should have messaged Sykes first and not her, said biofilm from people wearing makeup", (ref Sykes terms and conditions 19.1.2.1 Complaints while at the Property - contact owner first) Thursday hot tub was good it worked perfectly as expected Friday hot tub cold! Turned itself off again at main point, it was 35.1' so gave up on it. overall not great, but ok as a base to come back to whilst out adventuring and seeing family in Falmouth. interior decoration and colour palette well thought out, but not worth the £800 paid for the week. Sykes don't seem concerned, said will forward to owner so issues addressed before next Tennant.

  • "We had a great stay at this property."

We had 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 9) staying and there was plenty of room. The residential street was very quiet. Yes the parking space is tiny but it's not a problem. Just either park outside the door or get people to jump out before you park. The living room has comfy sofas and it is a very warm house (we had to turn the heating down in December). I saw a review that said the house had a lot of dust...that wasn't a problem on my stay. It was really clean. The location is a 10 min drive from central Falmouth. It is less than 10 mins to walk to the train station which takes you to Falmouth or Truro. All in all, a lovely stay in a very comfy house.

  • "A very pleasant, comfortable stay at Strawberry Cottage."

Like other reviewers though we did find the parking tight!! Whilst not using the hot tub or garden at this time of year we would think that having access only through one of the bedrooms might be a problem depending on the make up of the party if 6 people were staying. We were all from the same family but perhaps this should be explained in the property details? Similarly the lack of a proper shower in the main bathroom could prove a problem if a mixed party all needing to use the downstairs bedroom shower. Observations rather than criticisms - we enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your feedback and we are arranging for a shower to be fitted shortly in the main bathroom. Kind Regards Mrs Jackson Property Owner

  • "The lounge, kitchen and living area are well furnished and comfortable."

The kitchen is well equipped which was useful and the outdoor hot tub is a great addition which we used every day after being out exploring. A couple of negatives - The beds, unfortunately, were not comfortable and the mattresses on all 3 double beds are in need of replacement. Both bathrooms smelt musty and have some mould & flaking paint and need some attention. In our opinion, the house needs a ‘deep clean’ - dust on skirting boards and substantial amount of dust behind the furniture & beds. We did have a good holiday and were able to overlook these issues although we had disturbed sleep due to the poor comfort of the beds. The parking bay is tight and whilst we were able to park our 4x4, only the driver can access the car door when parked and only if you are slim! Fortunately we only had one car but if 2/3 couples stayed and had separate cars then you would struggle for parking in the road …. In the week we stayed there were not any alternative spare spaces. Overall it’s a nice place but would definitely suggest these things are addressed to ensure future guests have a more comfortable stay.

Thank you for you response and feedback which we have found helpful. The Bathroom has been repainted. An extra spring clean was arranged by the housekeeping team. Car parking in Cornwall is at a premium. We have two parking spaces which is usually sufficient but parking is available in a nearby car park if required. I will consider the beds, which are a silent night miricoil. Kind Regards Mrs Jackson Property Owner

  • "Overall a really good holiday let."

Some items in the kitchen were a bit dusty on arrival but a quick rinse sorted that issue out, and some natural over time marks in the bath and around the house. Bedrooms were clean and well presented on arrival and pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the hot tub. Previous guests had left some food in the cupboards which we would of preferred not to have to deal with. There is a warning on arrival to not use the hot tub after 10pm due to being in a residential area. You are close to the college and university campus so there are a lot of students around and the local pub stays open till 11pm. There are a lot of things provided to do in the house, games, DVDs, magazines etc. We would stay again.

Thank you so much for your feedback. The hot tub is emptied and cleaned and re balanced weekly so it is clean for each new guest. We like you to have a lovely stay and appreciate the feedback. Kind Regards Mrs Jackson Property Owner

Next door has two cars and a van, so it meant I could not fully park right outside, encroaching on the neighbors on the other side!!

Thank you so much for your feedback, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at Strawberry Cottage. The garage was built to conform with a full size parking space. I can confirm I have parked a Vauxhall Antara in the driveway, and a Nissan Navara Pickup behind it. The next day we parked the Nissan on the drive with the Vauxhall Antara behind it. Its a little snug but you can park and still get out of the drivers side. Property Owner

The ensuite had black mould on the walls an ceiling and the extractor fan was so full of dust it couldn’t have been cleaned for a year. There is ample wall space for full length mirrors in the bedrooms but there are none just a tiny little mirror sat on the bedside tables. I also feel that all rooms should have a working tv not just a DVD player as this was not made clear and we had no dvds with us. Aside from that it was nice but certainly not luxurious but I guess it depends on what you’re used to.

The downstairs bedroom was very musty. I chose to keep most of my clothes in my suitcase as putting them in the chest of drawers would have made them smell. The sky dish is so old & rusty (I have photos) it's no wonder we could only watch certain channels and the picture was constantly breaking up. Also the toilet brushes in the bathroom & en suite were rusty and dirty (again I have photos) Overall the cottage was a good base and very well equipped and we enjoyed our holiday but in the current covid climate I feel the cleanliness could have been better.

We were a family of 6 (3 generations). The cottage was just perfect, it was exactly as stated on Sykes' website. The owner had provided everything you could think of. In the garage there were sun chairs, wind breakers, body boards, bbq, washer, dryers and buckets and spades for guests to use. We all enjoyed using the hot tub, even my dad who's 86. The cottage was in an easy to find location and ideal for visiting places. We visited Falmouth town, Gylly beach and Perranporth. Dollys tearoom has some delicious honey and rose scones. We had an evening meal and a family breakfast at the Windjammer restaurant near Trago mill. Also the Carnon Downs Premier Inn has a lovely Beefeater restaurant. The Flicka Donkey Foundation near Penryn is a donkey/rescue sanctuary. It is free to visit, but you need to pre book well in advance. I would recommend Strawberry Cottage to friends and family and I will definitely book to stay there again.

Just 2 things let it down... Firstly, my son dropped a lot of stuff on the floor and when retrieving it I found a bottle of water and a tissue under the settee, an empty vaping box, a face mask and cotton wool buds under the bedside tables.... I could understand if they couldn't be seen but settees and cabinets were a good few inches off floor so clearly visible if someone had looked. With covid at the moment I didn't appreciate having to dispose of these items. Second thing to disapoint was the tvs didn't work in either of the bedrooms. They wouldn't pick up a signal so I had 2 teenagers who were disappointed they couldn't watch TV in their room.
