  • "A perfect chalet, upon arrival the property was spotlessly clean."

The kitchen is very well equipped, has everything needed. A pass is available for free use of the pool, not all accommodation on the complex provides this, so it's an added benefit. Property has an electric meter but owners leave plenty of coins for electric. Owners have provided all essential information and wifi password is clearly printed and left with information pack. Property is perfectly located for all beaches and not far from Boscastle and Tintagle. Would definitely book again.

Many thanks for your review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Linda and Mike. Property Owner

  • "A lovely place to stay."

The owners left us a folder full of places to visit. They also left us a few things like milk, tea and coffee which is a god send after a long journey. The place is also very quiet, so it is brilliant break from city life. I would recommend this place to all.

Thank you so much for your review. Very glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, and hope to see you again in the future. Kind regards, Linda and Mike Property Owner

The property

In the Cornish community of Kilkhampton, only 5 miles from Bude, you will find the beautifully presented single storey chalet 21, The Glade.

The property, which may house a family of four or couples, offers a tranquil retreat or a base for exploring the area’s many beaches, walks, coastal resorts and activities.

Whilst you relax on the comfortable sofas you can plan your first culinary inventions using the fully equipped kitchen, then choose to dine inside or al-fresco on the spacious terrace.

Alternatively take a stroll into Kilkhampton village for a take-away from the highly regarded chipshop or pizzeria, or enjoy a delicious pub meal from the London Inn or the New Inn.

If your taste is for Chinese food there is the Wayside take-away a mile up the road towards Bideford.

Kilkhampton is a historic settlement with archeological evidence going back to Bronze Age occupation. There is a beautiful medieval church, a butchers, a Co-op and a Spar shop Having rested up you may wish to explore a little further afield.

Within a 4 mile drive you have the National Trust beach at Sandymouth Cove (café and toilets on site) Northcott Mouth Cove (snack caravan and toilets) Duckpool Cove and Tamar Lakes Activity Centre.

Bude, 5 miles away, has Summerleaze Beach, with its famous sea pool, Crooklets Beach, a delightful canal-side walk, and links to the South West Coast Path - Bude Leisure Centre offers a wave pool, soft play area and several other activities.

Less than half an hour’s drive away you have the World famous Clovelly Village, The Milky Way family adventure centre and birds of prey show, Hartland Quay (not to be confused with Hartland Point) with fabulous coastal scenery and the aptly named Wreckers Retreat bar and restaurant, and a surfers paradise at Widemouth Bay.

Also easily within reach you can enjoy the quayside at Appledore fishing village, beautiful Instow beach, the family resort and surfing beach at Westward Ho!, Crackington Haven Cove, Tintagel (the original Camelot?) Boscastle Harbour and Port Isaac (the ‘home’ of Doc Martin).

21 The Glade can provide versatile accommodation: a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, a centre from which to explore the local area or a gateway to the delights of North Cornwall and Devon.

About the location

KILKHAMPTON

Bude 4 miles.

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.
