4 Customer Reviews

  • "27 The Manor is a perfect getaway."

The location is quiet and has beautiful views across the fields to the sea. There are so many places to visit locally. The chalet is spacious and there is plenty of room for 4 adults or a family, with seating outside to enjoy a morning coffee or evening drinks, listening to the birdsong. Dishwasher and washing machine is a welcome bonus and the owner's artwork is wonderful. Would definitely revisit and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet retreat.

  • "27 The Manor is lovely."

We were 3 adults and 2 children of 5 and 9 and there was enough space for all of us. It was clean with comfy beds, and although the kitchen is small it has everything you need and we cooked for 5 most nights. The view is amazing, ideal to sit outside with a drink in the evening. The car park is right by the chalets just down a short path. We found it a quiet site. It is only a 5 min walk to the main building with an indoor pool (pass included), arcade, sweet shop, bar and restaurant, and evening room with entertainment. These were all clean, the staff lovely and we enjoyed these facilities too. Penstowe park is an ideal location and we were at our favourite beach Crooklets within a 10min drive, with plenty more close by. There are supermarkets close by and takeaways and pubs in the village too. Would definitely stay again!

thank you ANGIE for your lovely comments. Glad you enjoyed the cabin as much as we do. Hope you’ll stay again! Property Owner

  • "The property internally was clean and comfortable and fortunately for ourselves no issues with electricity."

However whenever we went out and came back there was a distinct musty smell in the air, the presence of dehumidifiers would suggest there may be a damp problem. Externally the property is looking tired and in need of repainting. The exterior cleaning is a disgrace, cobwebs around the door frame, dirty sills and debris piled under the garden furniture. The patio set is old and only fit for a skip, whilst the one odd chair is very dangerous and is likely to collapse during use. This is the first cottage I've visited with no welcome pack. Simple things to fix but there's no supervision or interest.

I am glad you were pleased that the cabin was clean and comfortable inside and had no electricity problems that some of the properties on the site had. We are waiting for a clear week to have the outside of the property freshened up. It has now (July) been painted and we are really pleased with the result. I assure you there isn’t a problem with damp. These cabins do need a good airing though like all properties of this type. Garden furniture is weathered the way we want it,.. the broken chair should not have been out not sure how this happened …it has been discarded and replaced since your visit. I love the cabin and it one of my most favourite places to be. Property Owner

  • "This was a lovely chalet / lodge just as described by Sykes."

We had questions before we went and these were answered promptly by Sykes customer service and the owner even rang us to clarify an question that we had. This property was an obviously well loved place used by the owners. Not just a property to rent out. They even had fat balls and bird food for us to put in their feeders to watch the birds. This was a lovely peaceful place with fabulous views. Thank you so much

About the location

KILKHAMPTON

Bude 4 miles.

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.

Two complementary electric cards available, any electricity used over limit needs to be purchase on site
