"Great space to stay in a lovely village."
Garden and frontage to accomodation were quite overgrown but appreciate its the end of season. Similarly, the car parking spaces were very overgrown and difficult to access.
As had already been mentioned, the entrance to the car parking area is extremely tight as are many of the roads around the village.
The accomodation itself was more than suitable for our needs, it a good state of cleanliness and we had a comfortable stay thank you.

"I read the reviews which had commented on how hard the property was to find and to park as narrow entrance."
So I had a good look on Google maps before we left and made sure I knew what I was looking for and we found the house no bother. The entrance to the property is narrow but my husband drove in and out fine with me directing him from outside and we left with no scrapes. We had a great stay and were not ready to leave!
Thank you for your feedback, glad you managed to navigate the car park entrance we have an estate car and reverse out Cornwall is well known for narrow streets and scrapes. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

"Perfect property which had everything we needed."
Great location to the harbour - just be prepared for the steep hill to the property (all around the harbour) although there is a back way in that’s not up a hill. Kitchen was fully equipped, front room is huge and relaxing, master bedroom is lovely with an enormous bed and kids loved the football table.
Only negative for me was the narrow entrance to the property - I got my car stuck so couldn’t park at the property and had to pay for car park. Not a big deal to park in the car park but wish I had known about the tight entrance as I wouldn’t have attempted to put my car in there. But overall a great holiday and lovely property!
Thank you for your feedback, we had informed sykes to include the entrance to the car park being tricky to navigate , we will email them again. Glad you enjoyed your stay

"APPALLING. The house was filthy it smelled of cat pee."
The living room rug was disgusting. Damaged and dangerous broken furniture(juke box and bedside cabinets). Damaged and broken beds. Stains all over the bedroom walls. The washing machine was broken and unusable. The house is currently for sale, this is why minimal money has been spent on repairs and cleaning. I have photos to support this damage should anyone at Sykes be interested. Not fit for purpose. Wrecked our holiday. If Sykes are genuinely concerned they should help us get compensation for this dismal house.

"Charming cottage in a perfect location, easy walk to the harbour and village."
Good parking but sadly almost impossible to get into it as too narrow for most cars. Reasonably priced public car park about 10 mins wal away.
Due to mis communication between Sykes cottages and the owner, the beds were not made up in all three bedrooms (3 adults, 3 separate bedrooms requested). A quick call to the owner told us where to find the bedding but, making up beds after a long journey and stressful attempts at accessing the parking area is not what one wants to do on arrival.
The garden which could be charming and safe was in fact neither. It is open to a shared access at the bottom of said garden, full of prickly weeds and the garden itself, whilst mainly laid to slabs have dying plants and weeds growing over. The garden table needs some attention also.
However all could be sorted in a day, including putting up a small fence to contain and make safe for children and dogs.
A little more attention to detail and it would be near perfect!
Thank you for your feedback, we will email sykes again and ask them to put the car park entrance is tricky to navigate, we have an Audi estate and find it easier to reverse out, we are not sure what you mean by a shared access as this is correct , the gate at the bottom is not in use for anyone apart from maintenance work to be carried out when the saltings is empty.
We will have a look at what can be done thank you

"Accommodation was lovely, spacious and spotless."
Only downside was the bed was abit hard but this could be personal preference.
Garden needed some tlc.
Welcome pack would have been greatly received, most properties seem to prove some milk, butter and bread so can enjoy a cuppa and toast before venturing out especially when arriving later in day.
Check in and out times were quite late and very early ( maybe due to covid and not changed).
Would return if few issues changed.

After a day of heavy traffic on the Motorway we had to ask several local people to help us to find the cottage. Nobody knew. Not a warm welcome. Also we had to leave 9 o'clock in the morning. That is a very unfriendly departure time for holidayseekers

"The power shower didn't work, the pull switch cord was missing, The couches in the living room were very sinky and past there throw out time, but the worst of all was the key safe it was positioned just a few inches from the ground and nigh on impossible to open in the day light let alone in the dark as the numbers are impossible to see in the dark, I will steer well clear of booking this cottage again,I am not blaming Sykes for this as it's the responsibility of the owner to maintain it!"
At the very least the key safe should be moved to a height where you don't have to bend and get on your knees to try to open it!
Thank you for your comments, we have had no problems in the pass regarding the issues, we will however have our maintenance team to move the key safe and attach shower cord Property Owner

"The property was as described and most of the previous reviews are accurate."
The place was immaculately clean and had everything that you need. As previous reviews the outside area could do with a bit of TLC but was fine to sit outside and have a glass of wine. The Dogs were safe to be left to roam around and couldn’t get out.
Unfortunately for me I don’t like hard beds so I suffered a bit but that’s not to say there is anything wrong with it, it’s just me, so if you struggle with hard beds take a topper with you.
The Wi-Fi seemed very good to me so maybe it’s been improved.
The property is surprising big inside and is very well located to stroll into mevagissey.
Had no trouble with the parking as others have. Seemed ok for one car but can understand people with two cars maybe. But then again not any properties cater for two cars. As for the gap to get in and out. We have a Mazda cx3 suv crossover. Not big but not small either. Just need to be careful.
For those going in future. When you see the sign on the wall at the entrance to the lane, the car park for the property is immediately on your left as you go through the gap. Don’t go up the lane, it’s not up there! There is a thin white stick stuck in the ground. If you go past it you’ve gone too far. Saltings 1is the far left property of the row of cottages.
Overall a great holiday a great place and great accommodation. Thank you to the owners for our stay.
Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you had no issues and would welcome back anytime.

"Well equipped, spacious house."
Great location to harbour & shops. Access to property is down about 6 steps and along gravel or down a cobbled slope. We weren’t aware of this and just made moving a sleeping baby harder.
Car park has been mentioned as tight but we got our A5 and Sportage in and out with someone guiding us. We did park one in the main village car park as we were coming and going a lot.
Towels and bedding felt new and good quality. It would be Helpful if a non slip mat was available to help bathe little ones more safely.
Thank you for you feedback, we will definitely purchase a non slip in the near future, and welcome you back at anytime

"Our 4 night stay (we left after 3 nights) at this basic and unappealing cottage got off to a bad start when we had to reverse from the far end of the extremely narrow Valley Park Lane, having been unable to find the property."
We drove to the Centre of Mevagissey to search for the cottage on foot. The absence of any signs, with the names of the properties, at the entrance to the parking area (it happened to be the very first at the start of the lane) and the fact that the property was not visible from the lane didn't help.
The bare minimum of information awaited our arrival, a note explaining what we should do with the linen on departure, and that was it. Some information about where to place the rubbish (we worked it out for ourselves) and some information about the local services etc. would have been appreciated.
Other adjoining cottages a little further along from 1 The Saltings had neat and well-tended small borders facing them, whereas the small patch immediately outside this cottage looked neglected. The 'delightful patio area at the back' was anything but. We did not use it!
We had been aware that access to the parking area is restricted. In spite of taking great care, particularly when exiting at the end of the narrow lane between a wall on one side and the wall of the house opposite, we badly scrapped the side of the bumper. Whenever leaving the property someone keeping a close eye on the narrow gap is highly recommended.
Thank you for your feedback, sorry that you couldn’t find the property this is a first for us ! we had a new electric pole recently so I will check to see if they replaced the sign. The housekeeping team should have left a information folder out for you there is one in the property . The car park is narrow we have an Audi estate and find it easier to reverse out this should be in the description of the property.
We are In Process of employing a gardener so hopefully the outside areas will improve.

Central for all Mevagissey. Consequence is the narrow roads as to be expected, but particularly the entrance to the property’s own shared private car park is extremely narrow and should be pointed out in the details to forewarn visitors travelling in a larger car/vehicle.

"Had a wonderful stay at this property, the house was beautiful and the location perfect, table football was a great addition."
The parking was ok, we had a Dacia duster and managed to get through the narrow gap without any trouble, although it was was very tight. The main problem we had with the parking was the neighbouring house kept parking their 4x4 in front of our car blocking us in, so in the end we decided to park in the main willow carpark which is only a short walk away. Other than this the house was wonderful and the area beautiful and would highly recommend this property to anyone thinking of holidaying here. Thank you!

"We had a lovely stay at this cottage as a family of 5."
Lots of space and very well equipped and clean. There are only a couple of things I would maybe draw your attention to and get main one is the parking. It says narrow entrance and that is without doubt but the parking spaces themselves really need sorting. It says parking for two but the second space is completely covered by overgrown bushes as is part of the first space. Another is the garden both front and back. Really needs some attention especially the back as there are dead plants in pots chucked down the side end part of the garden, just not great to look at but not detrimental. The sofas need replacing and I would say so do the bunk beds. The mattresses were fine but the bunks are so noisy as soon as someone sleeping in them move, both children wake up. Luckily, we put one in the twin room with the eldest and the little one in the day bed. This obviously wouldn't have worked of there had been more than 5 of us. Overall a lovely stay and great property but could be made even better!

The house in general is tired and a little neglected , out the front along a gravel walk way to the house the other 4 houses are all clean and tidy but in front of number 1 lots of large weeds are growing through , it is a simmer story inside the house , cheap laminate flooring that is starting to peel and tired kitchen furniture , we needed to wash plates, cups and glasses before we could use them .

"Beautiful cottage which is ideally situated for a short walk into Mevagissey itself."
The restaurants were very popular and had to be booked well in advance for a chance to eat in them. We were lucky enough to get a table at The Fountain Inn which is the oldest pub in Mevagissey and we all agreed, it was the best place we had eaten in & by far the cheapest! The fish stew was outstanding and i would highly recommend it!
The lost gardens of Heligan are just 10 minutes drive away and is certainly worth a look. we also visited Newquay and Padstow but due to the current Covid-19 pandemic we felt quite over whelmed with the sheer amount of people there with not a lot of social distancing being adhered too!
The only negative we have is that the entrance and exit to the parking where the cottages are is so narrow. We damaged the front of our car and would estimate that it will cost a few hundreds to get it put right. There were five other cars parked there too for the other cottages & after close inspection we noticed that every single one of them had scraped the front of their cars too, and one of those was a mini! This did bring a dampener on our stay and for this reason unless we had a smart car then we wouldn't stay here again.

Only negative is the access to the parking, the gap is Very narrow, I'm an experienced driver and managed to get in and out without damage, but it was that tight I didnt move the car once we arrived, until we left as i was that concerned.

"1 The Saltings is a spacious 3 bed house which looks to have been recently redecorated and refurbished in a pleasant and comfortable style."
It is a very short walk into Mevagissey and the return incline would only be an issue for someone with an infirmity.
Two major criticisms however. The rear patio is a great sun trap but unfortunately it was badly in need of some weeding and also the paving slabs were dirty (beyond the normal wear and tear dirt of paving slabs). The garden furniture also was dirty and the paint was flaking. The patio was not a pleasant place to sit therefore.
Secondly, the communal refuse bins at the car park entrance were a serious health hazard. There was a lot of rubbish not in sealed bags left spread around the bins and so the seagulls had got involved and worsened the problem. All this despite there being room in the bins for themselves. It seems as though some of the properties were not using the required black bin bags, even for rubbish going into the bins and so the refuse collectors had not taken that rubbish meaning that the green bins will soon be too full to accept black bin bagged rubbish so making the problem even worse.
These might seem to some to be minor criticisms; they could be easily rectified but if they are not it makes the property an unacceptable place to stay.
Do Sykes make routine checks of the properties they let? We thought they were checked after each clean/tenant departure.
Thank you for your feedback regarding the communal Bins, we will look into this and action immediately Property Owner

"Very good position in Mevagissey for access to the town, 3 min."
walk. Very tight and awkward entrance in and out of the car park which was not mentioned on your website. Large cars would really struggle. We could not arrive before 4pm and had to vacate by 9am to facilitate deep cleaning. The front of some drawers were covered in what looked like egg yoke, the coffee machine filter had not been cleaned, we did not use, the kitchen utensils in the container were covered in a film of grease, we did not use, the oven was dirty and rusty, we did not use, in fact the oven was not fit to use, I would say the whole kitchen was "tired". you have a problem with whoever is supposed to clean.
The rest of the house was fine mostly, large rooms, well heated, clean bedrooms, and bedding, nice little sheltered patio at the rear, although the vegetation could do with a tidy up, not very welcoming.

"Parking is definitely an issue."
We parked on a car park in the village as we couldn't get vehicle through narrow gap. This was not due to inexperience as my husband is an established driver, but it would have damaged the vehicle. Our son in law managed to get his car through, but we now have seen scrapings on the paint, he didnt even realise he had touched the wall.
We incurred the costs of parking as we decided this was cheaper than damaging the car. I believe others staying there will have same problem...
The cottage was lovely, I am very fastidious about cleaning, and it was very clean. It is in a fantastic location for access to mevagissey, we loved it and had a wonderful time. The football table is wonderful the grandsons loved it.
The cottage is well equipped although no cafetiere for ground coffee only a machine for beans, but I had taken my coffee machine so all was fine! .. TV in bedroom would not work, and my son in law who is IT expert ! was frustrated and annoyed with himself for not getting it on. This did not matter to much really and we had a fantastic stay we only returned to the cottage to shower and sleep as we were out all day every day.
Mevagissey is beautiful, we drove all over to many beaches and loved Charlestown especially.
