  • "Thank you so much for a wonderful stay over Christmas- with the added touch of a Christmas tree!"

We found everything to be perfect for our stay. Bedrooms and number of bathrooms were great for our group size and everyone had lots of their own space. The kitchen is well equipped and communal areas are cosy yet spacious. The views were exceptional and I can imagine in summer the decking is an incredible outdoor space to use. The house is well located to access Mevagissey it’s no more than a 10 mins stroll into the village (steep walk on the way back up but keeps you fit!). Thank you so much! We very much hope to return.

We enjoyed our stay hugely. The home was well equipped, although one of the single mattresses wasn't particularly comfortable, and some basics such as loo roll and dishwasher tablets were sparse.

The starters of dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, etc. were much appreciated for our self-catering holiday. Having three bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen helped enormously. The view from the decks is stunning. Google Maps doesn't recognise Polkirt Heights (Apple Maps does). If using Google Maps, we suggest using the postcode.

  • "A lovely stay at the Pink House - 6 adults, a teen and a baby stayed for a week in April."

Would highly recommend this accommodation. The house is immaculate and beautifully decorated. It has everything you would need for a self catering stay. Getting the car up and down the hill is an experience, but we could not have managed the walk up and down to the town with the pushchair so keep that in mind when booking. We bed share with our 6 month old and I was a bit worried about sleeping with her in a double when we're used to a king at home but there was a comfortable pull out under the bed which me and my daughter shared happily all week. The only tiny issue we had was that the living room does not comfortablely seat as many guests as the house accommodates. We used one of the chairs from the dining room but obviously that wasn't as comfortable but did not affect how much we enjoyed our stay. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Hi sorry to hear about the heating- This is not an issue we were aware of from any other reviews. We will look into it but wish you had contacted us during your stay so that we could have had the opportunity to fix it. Thank you Property Owner

Easy reach of Mevagissey with a steep walk back- the price you pay for a stunning view! Was very clean on arrival. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Great size fridge. Some of the TVs could do with a bit of an update: we couldn't get the one in the twin room to work at all. Comfortable communal areas with lots of seating and room at the dining table. All 3 generations of family thoroughly enjoyed their stay.

.stains on crockery, work surfaces and crumbs in the cupboards…..deep clean, really?? Especially when we couldn’t get in until after 5pm!! Property is tired, shower screens etc however that said the house is in a lovely location and the view spectacular.

HI Thank you for the feedback - it is surprising as the property normally gets excellent cleanliness reviews. However, I will pass on to my cleaners and ask them to pay extra attention. I do, however, dispute that the property is 'tired' - the bathrooms and shower screens are quite new and very modern and up to date in my opinion. Property Owner

I would just like to mention that with those amazing decking area, supplying sun loungers would have been most appreciated. The garden dinning furniture was a bit dodgy as it was mended with duck tape and also towards the end of our visit, one of the chairs gave way, fortunately no one was hurt. It was spotlessly clean and there was everything that you needed, and more (a full length mirror would be a good addition though), but a minor point. From other reviews we were pleasantly surprised that there were fewer stairs in and outside the house than we thought there would be. What an amazing place the terrace is to have breakfast and listen to the noises of the town and harbour. Our first night was the last night of Feast Week so it was great to see the carnival and fireworks which were right infront of the property. Thanks for making our stay so fab in what is an amazing property with a view that I'm sure can't be matched anywhere else.

We had issues with the washing machine but this was rectified and a new machine was delivered ASAP which worked a treat. The location was great, overlooking Mevagissey harbour and the property had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Found the beds and pillows very comfortable and all the rooms were really warm and cosy. Lovely showers. Communication with the owner could've been a bit better (all via text), but think she may have a full time job too, so understandable I guess. Apart from that I would definitely recommend to friends and book if we were to visit Mevagissey again.

Our group consisted of 4 adults & 2 dogs and the house and it’s location were perfect. Mevagissey has several pubs and restaurants within walking distance and everywhere we went was so friendly and welcoming (and dog friendly). We had some lovely walks from the house and some lovely trips out to surrounding areas. A couple of things to be mindful of..the house is at the top of a very big hill, which means that the views are breathtaking but it it’s also a hill back up from the village and the house itself is set over 3 floors so a fair amount of stairs, certainly not an issue but is something to be aware of. Also don’t bother with The Lost Gardens of Heligan if you’re visiting at this time of year we found it tired and neglected and therefore very overpriced. The best bit for all of our group were the amazing views from the house, waking up in the morning and being able to watch the comings and going’s of the harbour with a cup of tea in bed was perfection.

  • "We really enjoyed staying in mevagissey, the house was lovely and much bigger than expected, it has everything that we needed however the standard of cleanliness was poor, upon arrival, I walked down to collect they keys and was greeted by a bag of dog poo!"

The skirting boards were all really dirty with grime and hairs, there were hairs and dirt in all the corners of the rooms and the vanity unit beneath the basin in the top floor bathroom had so much dust inside that we couldn’t use it. It is a real shame that more attention to detail wasn’t paid to the cleaning as this is a beautiful house and as check in had been delayed by a further 2 hours for cleaning purposes, we were expecting more. We all agree that we would go back to The Pink House for the house and the setting but we would make sure we took plenty of cleaning products with us!!

Hi Thank you for raising these issues. These cleaning issues were passed onto our cleaner. It was somewhat surprising as the standard of cleanliness is usually very high. Property Owner

The second double bedroom at the top of the house was undoubtedly the best room but no ensuite but a large shared bathroom. The property was in a wonderful spot for the town and fantastic views. A little bit scruffy in places, the kitchen had clearly been a blueish colour as quite a lot of paint is wearing off, but a big kitchen for all our needs non the less overall I would recommend it as it was in an amazing situation.

We had a great stay, comfortable And the house had everything we needed, it is very well equipped. We read some reviews before our visit that said it was cold, we were there during Winter and in storms and didn’t find it cold. There are a few things things to point out which hopefully the owners can address. It is damp in one bedroom under the garage, there is a dehumidifier and it collected a lot of water which solved the problem, but as the house had been empty for a while before our visit when we arrived it felt damp and musty on arrival. The house really needs a good clean, although work tops and bathroom fittings were clean, walls, doors, skirtings etc were not and didn’t look like they have been cleaned for a long time. I’m not an obsessive cleaner but for the price would expect a clean property. One of the bathrooms hasn’t been finished, the fittings are lovely but door and woodwork hasn’t been painted and is scuffed and dirty, just a small thing but noticeable against a lovely fitted bathroom. Don’t let the above put you off, I’m just noting so the owners can address, we had a brilliant time and enjoyed our stay

  • "This property has a 5star rating which was not accurate."

The views were stunning, the bedrooms were clean and comfortable except two of the single beds sheets did not fit the beds properly. Every morning the sheet would be practically off the beds. One of the mattresses in the twin room had stains on it which was uncovered with the sheet coming off nightly. There is a request to strip the beds for the housekeeper which we did, stripping mine which was the other twin there was a large stain on the duvet. The downstairs has a smell to it that no amount of air freshener can hide . The kitchen cupboards need a good clean inside and out, and a lot of the equipment needs replacing eg rusty tin openers and the thing some people use on top of there frying pan was covered in grease. This property could be stunning if it had some TLC spent on it. And lastly having to take all your recycling away with you is not 5star treatment. When you look forward to something for nearly a year and treat your family so you can all be together it was a disappointment. However we had a nice time together.

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry you did not feel the property was up to standard. All the duvets have been replaced with new ones and sheets have been replaced also. The kitchen and all it's contents have been given a spring clean. The mattresses always have clean thick protectors and the mattresses are all still fairly new, if there is any staining this will be addressed. Property Owner

Well maintained and very clean with lovely soft coastal décor. The rear decking was a joy to relax on and watch out over the Sea and the Town of Mevagissywas very pleasant. I did have cause to call the owner and she rectified a very simple issue and it did not impact on our stay in any way. She was very pleasant and helpful . The Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, Microwave etc and not once did we feel at a loss of anything to do locally. Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan being close by just added to the House's convenient position. Would definitely recommend this premises to friends and family. Only one issue which was beyond the owners control, the useful information does say that there is recycling points at Tesco or Asda in Saint Austell, which was correct a few months ago, however, when we tried to do this on our way home, we were told by Store staff there that this facility has been removed and recycling has to go to a central area in St Austell but it closed at 4 pm each day. But this was no ones fault, just thought it would be useful to mention for the owner to update the information board. I would return every season if Annual Work Leave allowed! Thank you Jane and Sykes cottages . One of the best holidays I have ever had.

Hi Thank you for the lovely review. We have revised the note about recycling and we actually are able to have the recycling collected now every week. Property Owner

When researching on Google Maps the property is located in typical suburban residential street but don't be fooled by its residential street location, the views from the living and sleeping areas are directly over the harbor and you can watch the boats going to and fro. In addition there are wide vistas of the sea and coastline all the way to Fowey, simply wonderful. You're only 10 minutes walk to the harbor with its many pubs and eateries, and access to the coastal path, for a week's stay you can easily park your car when you arrive and not use it until departure.
