  • "Short weekend break at The Saltings to relax and take in Meva Xmas Lights before Christmas is upon us, the position cannot be faulted right on the harbour quay, a short walk to whatever you need, the flat is on the second floor but the stairs are not a problem if you are able, the main double bedroom is narrow and you need to watch you do not bash your legs on the side of the bed, the rest was absolutely fine, only one gripe really, on arrival the flat was pretty cold, the heating is night storage and we had to switch the radiators on, which meant our first night was a bit uncomfortable, fine after that."

  • "Fantastic location right on the harbour."

    All three windows give waterfront views. Property was furnished and decorated to a very high standard and I would definitely recommend this property (in fact I already have).

  • "The best location overlooking the harbour."

    Take some ear plugs though as very noisy very early morning with fishermen coming back and seagulls being so loud. Parking is very tight but everyone just knocks on each other’s door and people happily move about to accommodate. The place was immaculately decorated and clean. Only one tiny downside was there was no washing machine which would have been nice. Would highly recommend this place. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • "We had a lovely holiday at The Saltings in Mevagissey, an absolutely fantastic location with amazing views of the harbour."

    We loved to watch the fishing boats coming in an out and were amazed to see seals in the harbour as well. The Saltings is a lovely little base to explore Mevagissey and Cornwall. A bit more storage would help though - a shelf in the bathroom and some more hangers or drawer space. But we had a lovely holiday and would definitely recommend.

  • "A great central village location that allowed our family (2 teenagers) to explore independently and together."

    Local restaurants offer delicious treats (we pre-booked which I’d recommend during the height of the holiday season). Our car (Land Rover) fitted fine into the parking space, a real asset to the property. Wonderful walks from the apartment into Heligan gardens and along the coastal paths. We also really enjoyed the Eden Project (that we had to prebook) and exploring local villages/beaches. It would have been nice for the apartment to have a dishwasher and for the cleaner to have emptied out the shower plug (this was blocked with nasty stuff). Two minor points for possible improvement, but all in all a fabulous, well appointed holiday apartment I’d recommend to others.

  • "Lovely little flat."

    Fab views over the harbour. Kids bedroom is small, but that is as per the description. As others have said, the parking is very tight (we took the smaller of our cars because of that and were pleased we did - but it is still a 3 series estate so it’s still quite big) but ultimately the flat has parking and it is located right on the harbourside - so the parking is a major positive. All in all, a lovely little flat and we really enjoyed our stay.

  • "The apartment was exactly what we were after and in the perfect location on the harbour front."

    We loved that it was doggy friendly as our little dog could come with us too. The apartment is finished with lovely furniture and the sofa we found to be very comfortable. The only thing we would make fellow guests aware of is the parking- it is tight. We have a Ford focus so not too big and found it to be tight. The boot only just opened under the height restrictions so this is something to be aware of if you have a larger car.

  • "Whilst there was much that was very good, a number of things were not pleasing."

    The bathroom needs shelving for storage especially in the shower. The bathroom sink plug does not work properly and water drains away very quickly. The kitchen lacked scissors and also there were no oven trays available. The freezer was clogged with ice and badly needed defrosting. The small bedroom lacked hanging storage. Other than that......

For a spot of culture, Mevagissey Museum has a range of exhibitions on the village's rich history.

For some scenic walking opportunities visit the 200 acres of The Lost Gardens of Heligan, which was only discovered in recent decades and comes with some hidden gems such as the sleeping goddess.

Venture further afield towards The world-famous Eden Project is also within driving distance and has some of the most exotic plants in the world growing in two biomes, some of which are the only of their kind left in existence; this well-known attraction is a horticulturists haven.

For some walking and cycling opportunities, the Roseland Heritage Coast is right on your doorstep where you can join the South West Coast Path for some walking and cycling routes.

MEVAGISSEY

St. Austell 5.5 miles; Truro 16 miles.

The perfect Cornish fishing village, with winding cobbled streets and a picturesque harbour full of boats. Stunning walks lead along the coast in both directions, with sandy beaches, high cliffs and hidden coves to explore. The village has an excellent selection of pubs and restaurants, whilst just up the road are the Lost Gardens of Heligan. A ferry from Mevagissey to Fowey also runs daily between Easter and September. Spend some time at the Tall Ships harbour at Charlestown (7 miles) with its shipwreck museum, or among the tropical biomes of the world-famous Eden Project (11 miles). The stunning coastline, fabulous beaches and renowned gardens of the beautiful Roseland Peninsula are a short drive down the coast while Truro, with its shops, restaurants, theatre and cathedral can be reached by car in half an hour.
