  • "The property needs a thorough deep clean."

Mould in shower, damp bedroom and living room walls. Widow nets and blinds are dirty and full of cobwebs and need replacing. Very damp wardrobe/alcove to damp to hang clothes in due to the smell. Kitchen cupboards extremely filthy no space to put any provisions bought with you, cups with tea stains in them. Lacking basic necessities like oven gloves, shower drying mat. It states in the particulars use of its own garden, however on arrival it states you can't use it due to lack of maintenance. The property needs to be updated on basic requirements to qualify for a four tick property, I would struggle to rate it for a two. You can hear every noise from the property above even down to the mobile phone ringing. It's the most disappointing place I have ever stayed in.

Cottage had a beautiful and comfortable interior, and was well appointed - could tell it was once part of an up-market hotel. Welcoming touches (scones, jam and clotted cream, pint of milk) were much appreciated. Access to lovely private garden. Off road car parking a bonus for an area with narrow roads. In summary, couldn’t fault anything.

  • "We had a great stay at the Slipway."

You have everything you need for a good two person stay in Penzance, including a very useful car parking space. The bed is very comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped, (only a dishwasher not there). There is a large tv and a comfortable sofa to watch it from. It’s a short walk into the town, with lots of places to eat and drink in, and there are many attractions in the area for walking to, or taking the car.

  • "What a gem."

The property was very comfortable and very well equipped. We came in April 2024 and needed the very efficient heating. Parking was easy. The property was close to the harbour. The only drawback was that the easiest access road was under water at high tide. If, as is quite possible, we come to stay in Penzance again we would certainly want to return to The Slipway. We had a wonderful time there.

It is very well appointed, comfortable bed (perhaps the pillows could do with an update), comfortable seating, everything you needed in the kitchen and it is warm and cosy. It is in a terrific position for everything including shops, railway and bus stations all being only a few minutes walk away. I will definitely be back. Thank you.

Slept well and found everything I needed in the kitchen area. En suite much improved from last stay in The Slipway in 2015. Charming and helpful owner. Thank you for the cream tea on arrival. Wonderful location with private parking which is a definite plus. High winds one evening found their way in around the entrance door - thank goodness for my travelling rug and the efficient heating. Dog loved the little garden across the road. En suite much improved from last stay in The Slipway in 2015.

This is something we would check with you before booking as never had to leave this early before.

Excellent location.Right by the sea and a few mins walk from the shops pub train and bus station. The perfect place to stay in Penzance. Someone was in our parking space when we got there but the owner sorted it straight away and we were able to park easily after that. Couple of small things there was a vase of almost dead flowers on the window sill with dirty water which had been left after cleaning which was not pleasant. Also the oven gets very very hot and there was no oven gloves available. Otherwise can’t fault the property at all.

  • "The property was cosy and comfortable."

Scones and milk on arrival and flowers were a nice touch. We enjoyed our stay but a few things need some attention. 1) The property instructions folder needs a review. The WiFi details are incorrect and only a text message from the owner revealed the password (that I have written in the instructions). The location of the wheelie bin key is not described correctly. The kitchen equipment user guides are not mentioned. We eventually found them under the scales in one of the drawers. 2) Three of the oven buttons are missing so its timer functions cannot be used. 3) The fridge motor is very noisy. 4) The DVD player was in a drawer and needed connecting up in order to use it. 5) The online property summary mentions 'CD/radio' but we did not find a radio. 6) Would be useful to have a user guide for the TV, DVD, etc. 7) Bedroom walls were running wet with dampness or condensation. At such properties we usually expect some shower gel or conditioner to be supplied. There are very few drawers for storing clothes in the bedroom.

Having paid the premium rate for a week in August we were at least expecting clean well appointed accommodation. All the comments I will make have been mentioned in previous reviews and I am not sure that the owner will take any action to remedy the faults. The directions to the accommodation were adequate but could be a little better. On arrival there was a musty smell of damp, I appreciate that the building is old but it has been renovated and surely something could be done. The damp was not helped as there was no place to dry wet clothing. The carpet was dirty in places and very frayed at the front door which was covered by a doormat, there was dust on many surfaces which had been there for some time and we found a pair of ladies briefs behind the armchair. The toilet brush was old and rusty and food wrappings and containers were found tucked into the sofa. On the positive side, the accommodation was very well located near the town centre and harbour.

However, the apartment suffers terribly from damp. Some of the walls are wet and it smells bad inside all the time. The smells gets into your clothes and other fabrics. It is almost impossible to air the place because all the windows and door open on to the road and two of the three windows do not open. Also, when we arrived the doorway was alive with ants - inside and outside the apartment. I contacted the owner who said they would try and fix it - they didn't - I had to sort it. This problem is not new as there was a pest control ticket for the same problem in July last year. The apartment also needs a good deep clean and some items repairing. A towel each for a week with no means of drying them is not adequate.

It was exactly what we had hoped for during our two night stay. Perfect location and close to everything in town. The very welcome box of chocolates and red wine were also appreciated - thank you. There are a few things I would like to mention, which might be useful to the owners: Firstly, it would have been so nice to have arrived to find some milk in the fridge, and some teabags. We struggled through the snow and ice of "The Beast of the East" to get to Slipway and then found we had to go out immediately to buy these simple, cheap items before we could make ourselves a cuppa. Also the coffee and tea mugs were badly stained and I had to wash some cutlery and crockery before using them. It would have been really helpful, too, if there had been some soap in the bathroom - again, it was another trip the shops in the freezing temperatures. Secondly, we asked for a slightly later check out on Sunday (one hour) which Thaddeus kindly agreed to; but I just wonder if 3pm check in and a 10am check out is rather ungenerous, even for allowing for the cleaners to changeover. In my experience a 2pm check in and a 12 midday check out has been the norm. These are only observations which I hope might be useful. They didn't stop us having a lovely time a The Slipway - albeit very short. Thank you again.
