Parking was a little tight for us as we had a large 4x4, but could get in ok, though a little bit out on the pavement. The owners recommended reversing in which was ideal. Jon rang on our journey down to say the cottage was available early, this and the wine, biscuits, eggs and milk were a very thoughtful touch. The cottage has an entrance pouch which is ideal for boots and coats and saves having outdoor footwear in the cottage. A spacious lounger, kitchen, dining area, lovely table, chairs and benches. Just by this is a dresser with table wear and glasses, all vet nice and a further seating area, with books, dvds, tv/dvd and lock literature. Upstairs are various bedrooms, the one we used was spacious with plenty of storage, the bedding was very nice and a good quality quilt. A toilet and bathroom with toilet, walk in shower and large bath under a skylight which brightens the room day and night. In summary the owners are in contact to ensure you are settled and have enjoyed your stay, which we did and would recommend this cottage to anyone, perranporth is a delightful location, a lovely beach and walks, plenty of pubs and shops for a self catering holiday. Every one is friendly and helpful, the gardener arrived one morning to tidy the bushes in the front garden and was very pleasant and did a good job. We only used the front garden and did not use the back garden, but would seem a nice sun trap in high summer. The photos don’t do the cottage justice, it’s an ideal holiday home in a wonderful location, the owners kindly agreed to let us bring a second dog. Both the cottage and perranporth made a wonderful week away, the weather was warm, shorts every day including the one day of rain. We booked this the day before we arrived and to honest I can’t understand why it was not already booked, it was our good luck.

About the location

Newquay 9 miles; Truro 9.5 miles.

Perranporth, a beautiful Cornish coastal town, lies in the heart of Poldark Country, the setting for the novels of Winston Graham who lived in Perranporth in the 1930s. Perranporth offers plenty of traditional pubs and shops, plus a classic bucket-and-spade beach that is lifeguarded in summer, overlooked by craggy rocks and a wonderful coastal path. Once known as the source of the finest tin, the community still retains reminders of the rich heritage with abandoned pump houses, mine shafts and workers’ cottages. The local Blue Hills Museum and Perranzabuloe Folk Museum are both well worth a visit to understand the fascinating history of this coastal area. Further afield are the miles of sandy beaches at Crantock and Holywell Bay, and the breathtaking coastal walks around St Agnes, much of it owned by the National Trust. A perfect holiday base in Cornwall, with an abundance of activities to suit everyone.
