  • "Let me start on a positive note!"

!! The location was amazing so close to the beach and cabin beach cafe. Unfortunately as we entered the property we were met by a living room in desperate need of an update, there were big stains on the cheap carpet the sofas were drab and there were wires hanging loose under the tv which is a risk if you have a child with you as we did. In the kitchen area was a not so good glass partition and there was no privacy curtains or blinds on the doors leading into the garden which would have been ok if there hadn’t been people cutting through the gates and across the garden. Upstairs the bathroom was in need of an update the power shower would have been ok if the tray didn’t fill up so quickly, we had to keep turning the shower off, there was mould around the sealant and flaking paintwork, there was also no shelf in the shower for putting your shampoo etc. The bedrooms were ok and beds fairly comfortable but there is a dangerous step leading out of the bedroom and off the landing if you forgot about it you could end up falling down the stairs not good if you have a child with you. We didn’t see the owners who from what I read in the feedback lived next door, it’s the first time I have stayed in a place and not been greeted by the owners. This place is rated as 4 star I think you need to re-think this rating as it is definitely not 4 star inside. We didn’t stay in the property or even cook and eat in it as we didn’t feel comfortable cooking and eating there. Such a shame this could be an amazing little home.

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the trouble to highlight some of the areas where we can improve, which is always essential for the upkeep of the cottage. We have addressed the slow drain with the cleaners. If there was an issue with this at the time of your stay, contacting Cornish Cottage Holidays would have been able to have remedied this to make your stay as comfortable as possible. With regards to the downstairs partition and landing step, these are both inherent parts of the construction of the building. The landing step is painted white to make it visible and the bedrooms, stairs and landing were redecorated earlier this year with new carpet. Likewise, the kitchen had a new oven and hob fitted in June. The star rating given to the property is based entirely on our guests' feedback, which is testament to their enjoyment of the cottage. We live some 260 miles from the property and consequently would have been a challenge to meet and greet you in person. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous place for a break."

Cottage was very comfortable and had everything you need. Welcome package was a lovely surprise / addition. Just a few minor things I would change / include: - recliners for the garden would be great - a shelf / area in the bathroom to put your wash bag / own belongings - there is a tiny shelf but this was more for display (eg a vase). - hooks / coat stand to hang your coats / outer-wear.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We appreciate your suggestions for improving our cottage. We look forward to hosting you again in the near future. All the best! Property Owner

Hostess, who lives next door, was friendly. The location was AMAZING. Parking is not guaranteed outside cottage but not a problem as on street parking is available in various locations around the village. Highly recommend The Shack near beach, pizza night should not be missed.

  • "I am a long standing user of Kernyk, and it did not disappoint."

Only one downside, for the first time ever, I was not always able to park in the usual spot opposite the cottage.

Thank you for your feedback and we're very pleased to hear that Kernyk did not disappoint you. As you can appreciate, during high season the village, and Cornwall in general, is an extremely popular destination with many people driving into the county. While we do encourage people to park opposite Kernyk it is free parking and we cannot guarantee it being available. However, typically in the low season, parking is rarely a problem. The exceptionally high volume of traffic in 2021 was most likely due to more people booking holidays in the UK because of covid. Thanks again for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic quiet village location - perfect for a beach holiday as only a short walk to a lovely beach."

On the whole the terraced house was all you need for 1 week away, however the cleanliness in the cottage was very disappointing especially as everything should be 'cleaner than clean': Kitchen work surfaces were dirty and 'sticky', washing up bowl had red food grease on it, mugs in the cupboard weren't clean. The tablecloth covering the kitchen table was so dirty it took a few goes to remove the dirt from it. (Nice start to a holiday - thanks!) The bathroom floor had quite a few black hairs on it (along the skirting) and they weren't ours The loo roll holder was rusty and the loo brush handle was grimy (yuk!) Bathroom walls/ceiling in the shower had black mould Cottage smelt damp (I realise it's an old building but this needs addressing as some people are allergic to mould and the air freshener used to mask the smell was a tad over-powering). Bed linen for the single bed didn't fit (it was too big, so could I suggest you use a small single bed mattress cover instead then it would be more comfortable for guests). The carpet is nasty & cheap and they haven't even bothered with underlay upstairs, so it's very hard underfoot too. Beds are very hard (great if you like a hard/super firm mattress though) For the extortionate price we paid for 1 week, I'd expect better. Towels were lovely and soft/fluffy (although one had weird crusty brown marks on which didn't come out in the wash) and the white bed linen was nice too. There's loads of kitchen utensils in every cupboard and drawer including 2 x cafetières, but only 1 small cupboard for your food, but there's 2 cafe's in the village & 1 pub - all serving great food! To end on a positive note though, the village is gorgeous and the location of this property is fabulous.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at Kernyk. We are sorry that you felt the cleanliness was not up to your expectations. Having contacted the agents that manage the changeover of the property, they stated that up to this point they have had 100% cleanliness feedback. The agents received no report regarding the cleanliness through the period of your stay. Had they been notified I'm sure most of the issues you had with the property could have been remedied. Our aim is to provide all our guests with the most comfortable stay as possible and that the property is clean on arrival. Property Owner

Resting between the bustling town of Penzance and the picturesque village of Praa Sands is Kernyk, an idyllic terrace cottage set amidst the delights of Perranuthnoe.

With the iconic South West Coastal Path resting just moments away, this self-catering accommodation is a rare find for romantics, beachcombers, avid ramblers, small families and those alike, seeking a temporary base to call home as they explore this part of Cornwall and beyond.

Step through the front garden before pushing open the stable door to reveal the elegantly decorated sitting room, where you can choose to perch on the window seat to watch the world go by or get cosy in front of the TV, whilst sat on the sofa or armchair.

From here, you will find the kitchen with its tri-folding door; a striking element to this light-filled room.

Another being the superb range of quality appliances arranged in a contemporary assortment, perfect for catering for yourselves.

Accompanying the kitchen area is the dining table, where you can relish in the company of your loved ones or during the summer months, take meals and drinks out into a sheltered sun trap, where table and chairs offer an alternative spot for dining and socialising.

Sleep is sure to come easy in the master suite, where quality white linens drape across the sumptuous double bed.

The single bedroom offers a space for an additional guest to catch their rest.

If you can tear yourself away from this cosy cottage, meander around the village before visiting the unspoilt beauty of the rugged Cornish coast, as the village’s secluded beach, which is popular for surfers and the clean water makes it safe for swimming.

After a wonderful day at the beach, refuel with a bite to eat at the Cabin Beach Café, where you can also pick up children’s buckets, spades and fishing nets, or linger over a pint at The Victoria Inn, reputedly one of the oldest recorded inns in Cornwall.

A short distance away is the village of Rosudgeon, where you will find further amenities, including a shop for picking up any last-minute essentials.

Continue along the coastal path, a true walker’s haven before stopping off at the town of Marazion, with its many art galleries to peruse.

You can enjoy Marazion’s long sandy beach, which links to St Michael’s Mount at low tide, a great opportunity to explore the tiny island and visit the castle.

Slightly further afield is Penzance, where you will find more places to eat and drink, as well as great shopping opportunities, and museums and galleries to marvel at.

From the town, you can then look forward to exploring all that West Cornwall has to offer, including St Ives, the famous Minack Theatre and the ruggedly beautiful landscapes of Land's End.

At the end of each day, look forward to returning to the warmth of Kernyk
