  • "Just spent our fifth visit to Copper Hill House."

Very very clean and so comfortable we now call it our home from home. We have seen many improvements over the last few years all good. We love Steve our Cornish next door neighbour x. We have booked for next October already

Yes Steve and Bev are lovely. Glad you like all our improvements which we've gradually done over the years. We really appreciate your visits and lovely feedback! Property Owner

  • "We stayed for 2 weeks at copperhill house and our stay really was a home away from home."

There was everything we could possibly have needed and the owner was more than accommodating to any questions we had. We had a toddler and a small dog and did not find any issue with the back garden walls as previously mentioned on other reviews. The bungalow was spotless and spacious and lots of little details making it such an enjoyable stay. We had 2 cars which when reversed onto the drive slowly didnt experience any issues with grounding etc as also mentioned on previous comments. Overall we were extremely happy and would definitely stay again so thankyou

An excellent welcome pack and we had a bonus of a cornish delicacy pack delivered during the week because the appproach drive in front of the house was having a surface improvement - but it caused us no inconvenience.

  • "The drive was extremely awkward to use."

I was in a minibus and caught the bottom a number of times due to the angle of the concrete. Very narrow turns onto/off the drive as well which made avoiding the worst bit very hard. The un adopted road is full of potholes which cannot be avoided adding to the issue. The garden was not maintained very well and the grass had not been cut. The photos make it seem larger and more level than it is. And a relatively low wall on one side of the garden which is out of sight would not contain an adventurous child or dog. Apparently the owner is looking to install a higher fence at a later date. Both bathrooms had black/orange mould where they had not been cleaned properly. The water pressure is not sufficient for one shower let alone two. Hair from previous people in both bathrooms. The kitchen sink easily gets blocked. The sink itself needed cleaning. There seems to be an issue with drainage from the washing machine and dishwasher as well. The windows at the front of the property have been replaced but no restrictors were fitted at the time. The large windows open out from the bottom and a toddler can open them. The owner was able to tell us where we could find keys to lock them as we had young children staying in the bedroom at the front. Both rear bedrooms had an air of dampness to them. Both double beds were very uncomfortable in terms of mattress comfort and pillows. The general cleaning is not satisfactory. Thick dust under the furniture.. with other peoples items left.. covered in dust also.. so not recent lost property. Strip of antibiotics left under a bedside cabinet in one bedroom. Thick dust on top of the wardrobes etc. Windows not cleaned. Highchair not cleaned. The general first impression of the inside was great..nice size…adequate storage in the bedrooms…but then it soon went downhill. The cleaning…or lack of… really lets it down. The owner is looking to rectify the window safety and low garden wall.. but they were unknown issues to me. The drive I have mentioned… not shown in the photos… and will not be an easy fix. Unfortunately definitely not worth the rental price.

Thank you for your feedback. Frankly I was quite surprised by by what you had to say as the vast majority of our feedback is excellent. However as a precaution I have taken note of your feedback and taken the following actions: I have been in touch with the property management company and sent them a copy of your feedback. Despite the fact that most guests find the bungalow very clean I have requested that a deep clean be done as soon as possible. From your feedback it is unclear whether it’s the outside or inside of the windows which you said were unclean. The outside windows are cleaned regularly and I have asked for the insides to be cleaned again. If you had flagged up the issue of a lack of cleanliness straight away I would of course have contacted the management company and they would have sent someone around to rectify it. I have amended the description on the Sykes web page to point out that the driveway access can be awkward if you have a large vehicle, like your minibus. I messaged the gardener who responded that he had been unable to do much recently because of the weather. The front windows did not have restrictors on them, but after viewing a Sykes owner’s webinar a few weeks ago we decided to have them fitted next September when the two back bedroom windows will be replaced. Your other complaints, for instance with the beds or wall etc have not been an issue with guests. We appreciate all feedback whether good or bad. Property Owner

  • "We were absolutely delighted with the bungalow on arrival it was even more stunning in person than in the pictures."

It had plenty of room for the 6 of us. The rooms were an extremely good size. The facilities were great too with a good selection of pots, pans, trays and utensils. The bungalow was extremely clean and couldn't complain one bit about that. The welcome pack was great to use for things to do and information about the property owners background and area. It was a very nice touch to have fresh focaccia, butter and milk along with a bowl of tea, coffee, sugar etc. Such a lovely touch. There were board games, card games and puzzles available along with a selection of toys for children. It was such a beautiful view looking out the front room bay window especially being able to watch the sunset. We will 100% book this property again if we decide to stay in Hayle in the future. Great value for money! Thank you again.

We appreciate your lovely feedback. The bungalow is surprisingly spacious and you are right you can’t see it so much in the photos. Glad you enjoyed the views from the front bay windows, there are certainly some spectacular sunsets to be seen especially when the sun reflects from the sea onto any clouds. Property Owner

We take several breaks in Cornwall throughout the year (this was our 7th this year) and without doubt this is our favourite holiday home, it really does feel like a home, not just a holiday let. The owners are lovely, and communicate personally with you, which makes you feel reassured if there are any problems. Hayle, as well as having the most amazing beach, is also a perfect base to set up camp, as getting to so many 'must do' places doesn't take that long. Great house, amazing holiday. We will be back again for sure.

The only thing which might help future holiday makers choosing the bungalow, especially if there is a disabled person, the walk in shower was excellent, can't fault it except to say it would be better still if there were grab rails as nothing to hold onto for someone unsteady on their feet.

The conservatory was really useful because the weather was not quite warm enough to sit outside at times. There is plenty of room in the bungalow with a lovely outlook over the estuary from the lounge and main bedroom. All in all excellent! We had one recommendation to make. Our friends who we went with needed the main bedroom because she is disabled and this made it much easier for them. The second bedroom has a double bed with a double quilt which we felt that it should have been a king sized bed. We could not get a good night’s sleep and so we slept apart and used the third bedroom as well. This did put a damper on the holiday overall because we do not sleep well on our own either!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to learn that you didn’t think the double bed was big enough. When we replace the bed we’ll take your comments into consideration. It’s always useful to receive suggestions. Glad you enjoyed the views! Property Owner

About the location

HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters, and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafés where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries, or admire the colourful sub-tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre, Falmouth Maritime Museum, Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
