Trenant Cottage And Lodge

Fowey 1 mile. Set deep in the heart of Daphne Du Maurier country these charming cottages are set in the owner’s grounds, in the delightful rural hamlet of Trenant, only one mile from the unspoilt and ancient harbour town of Fowey. Driving down the small lane you appreciate the deep countryside away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Trenant Cottage is a detached cottage while Trenant Lodge is an annexe of the owner’s home. Both properties sleep four guests in two bedrooms and have a garden with furniture and space to enjoy a BBQ. Fowey with its large, deep water harbour has for many years been a major attraction for sailing fans and it is well worth taking a trip on one of the pleasure boats that regularly depart from the Town Quay steps. There are many enjoyable walks to be had in the town itself through the ever narrowing streets with medieval and Georgian buildings creating a wonderful atmosphere. A splendid walk can be had by strolling along the esplanade to St Catherine's Castle which looks out over the harbour entrance and Readymoney Cove. Of an evening, or even lunchtime, you will have a superb choice of cafés, pubs, bistros and restaurants to enjoy the finest locally sourced food which will obviously include freshly caught food. With the Eden Project only six miles away and many other attractions close by, Trenant Cottage and Lodge are the ideal base for a holiday all year round.

About the location

FOWEY

Eden project 1 mile; Charlestown 3 miles; St Austell 3 miles; Mevagissey 14 miles.

St Blazey is a small town situated 3miles east of St Austell and is nowadays best known for being the closest to the Eden Project, which is a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Nearby Charlestown is a delightful and much sought after coastal village of stone cottages and regency houses. It is famous for its collection of tall ships riding at anchor in the harbour, the shipwreck museum, excellent pubs and restaurants and easy access to the coastal path. More recently it has become famous for the scenes filmed there for the Poldark series. The old market town of St Austell lies just a few miles from the south coast. A short drive will take you to fashionable Fowey, the fishing port of Mevagissey and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. There are also several National Trust gardens and properties within easy reach. With so much to do this is a great year round location.
