  • "A lovely cottage, very well presented, right in the heart of the village."

Very comfortable and has obviously been very tastefully renovated. All mod cons (except a microwave), all in all a wonderful stay.

  • "The problem with the shower overflowing wasn't resolved despite the workman's best efforts."

  • "Creel Cottage is a lovely place to stay and would be better justified being overseen by a company that specialises in luxury/boutique accomodation."

I was very reluctant to book this as JB/Sykes is not a company I would normally use but it was the best place that I could find in Port Isaac and you clearly have the monopoly there. Sadly where we stayed 3 years ago is no longer a (private) holiday let. Cleaning needs to be more thorough, a lost of dust/cobwebs under the drawers /bedside tables etc. A pencil under a chest of drawers is a good indication that the cleaning was not thorough. There were no pillow protectors on for which we were instructed not to remove them when stripping the beds and no laundry bags, which we were told would be provided. No toilet roll, kitchen roll or bin bag in the kitchen, only 1 dishwasher tablet and no welcome pack - something that we have had in every other cottage we have stayed at, which is a lot. There were 3 light bulbs that had blown. The blinds could do with replacing as the rods are sticking out and bits are broken. I left them much better presented than what they were when we arrived. Pillows could do with replacing. The booking process was simple enough and I e-mails that I sent were responded to promptly.

The property

Set within the fishing village of Port Isaac on the north coast of Cornwall, Creel Cottage is a beautifully renovated property dating back to the 1800s.

The building is full of character and charm and its two bedrooms make it a great choice for a family holiday or a romantic break for two.

When you enter the cottage you will immediately notice the period features; slate flooring runs throughout the ground floor and exposed beams and a woodburning stove in the living/dining room make it a spot you will want to curl up and relax in.

The kitchen is furnished with lots of modern amenities giving you the option to self-cater for yourself throughout the course of your stay.

Take your pick between the king-size and double bedrooms on the first floor, both tastefully decorated and benefitting from exposed beams and views across the village.

The family bathroom is beautifully fitted out, and includes a walk-in shower and a freestanding bath.

Private parking is available at the top of the village for two cars, so you can venture further afield when you fancy, or simply leave the car parked up and explore on foot.

The area around Port Isaac is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the turquoise waters and rugged coastline around the village are truly spectacular.

Spend time on the beach at Port Isaac or travel to nearby Port Gaverne with its sheltered and sandy beach – perfect for families with young children.

The village is well stocked with shops, pubs and restaurants to drink and dine out in, and the nearby attractions of Tinatgel Castle and Doyden Castle are well worth spending a day at.

Creel Cottage is a fantastic property, perfect for exploring the North Cornwall coast.
