  • "A really quiet and peaceful break in Waves End, just what was needed."

Such a quirky cottage but that's what we like. The only thing is it is now a creamy-white colour, not pink, so would change the picture. Enjoyed our stay so much, have booked for the same time next year

  • "The cottage was in a beautiful location and was aesthetically very pretty and peaceful."

There is definitely a problem on the outside wall with rot and damp issues as we had to remove a number of slugs from the wall by the stairs and there is a damp area by the wardrobe in the main bedroom.I have asthma and any damp spores are a health hazard , so this was a concern throughout the holiday.Sykes did not deal with the issue as they simply gave me a reference number and never contacted us just emailed us to say they couldn’t get hold of the owner! I would have expected a phone call or discussion at the very least!

But I moved this place x

  • "We loved our stay at Waves End and would recommend it."

The cottage was very clean and the towels and bedlinen soft and lovely. It was very warm and welcoming. We were surprised at how small it was downstairs, but the bedrooms were spacious. We coped as a family of 5 but would be perfect for a couple. The views of the harbour were amazing and made up for loss of space.

We will always look at Sykes first for any future holidays.

  • "After reading some if the other reviews on the cottage, we were a little apprehensive before we arrived."

Having stayed in quite a few cottages in port isaac we were pleasantly surprised.admitedly, the shower room is a little small and quirky, but I think it added to the cottages charm. The cottage had everything we needed for a lovely stay.would stay there again.

  • "We had a great holiday at Waves End and Port Isaac."

The cottage is full of old charm with a comfortable bed. It is very compact and not in my eyes suitable for 4 people. The bathroom is of very small proportions, it was fine for us but if you are of a wider build or disabled this really is not the place for you. A couple of things that also stood out was there was no useable dining table and chairs, as we could not for the life of us work out how the chairs unfolded and neither had anyone else as they were covered in a very thick layer of dust, we ended up eating our meals on a place mat on our laps really not ideal. One thing we did find unsafe was the bedroom window, it opened but the sash cord was missing so would not stay open it, not good for covid ventilation we found a block of wood to wedge it open but the danger was the frame was rotten and the small pane of glass was dropping. You should be able to open the windows especially as it was a warm week. Parking is not ideal but we managed, but please note paying fo a weeks parking does not automatically entitle you to a space , we had to queue everyday on returning for a space. I was fortunate enough to book Waves End last year before Sykes over inflated their prices, for the same time next year it is £300 more expensive and I certainly would not pay £1500+ for it! You can't blame covid and extra cleaning (because yes it was clean but not overly clean) for these price rises, it's greed. I have booked with Sykes for many years and always been really pleased with the properties, this is the first time I've had a gripe.

  • "Accomodation not suitable for 3 adults, ‘bathroom’ tiny, sink on top of the toilet and had to keep the toilet door open whilst using it which is hardly ideal !"

stairs steep, my partner is disabled and couldnt use the shower, lack of storage, reality was nothing like the pictures, my complaints are already on record, no mention of how steep the location is, a real workout to get back up the hill to the car, my disabled partner could not cope with it, we abandoned the holiday after 3 days, really disapointed with the experience waste of £750, Sykes unable to help us relocate which we tried to do.

  • "Really great time had in port isaac waves end cottage was great for 2 and cosy with all amenities."

The only thing was on arrival the property smelt a little musty although with a window open and candle on the smell soon went. The hot water was boiling and could pose a risk. Would have been handy for a little note of what to do on departure with bins bedding etc. In all had a lovely time had and would recommend to others. Thank you

  • "We were pleased with the reception provissions ie, coffee milk tea wine and cookies."

WHAT does need to be addressed is the hot water system. The tempreture of the hot tap is excesive to the point of skolding. This can cause a problem with child use. The front door jams on the floor which restricts your entry. Needs attention. The shower doors can be adjusted to open more as this restricts movement. Easy to adjust. We know the parking is in fact at the top of town and did so but other people appear to ignor the rules and park outside the cottage blocking the view from the lounge window. The other compication was the television. This took some time to unravell using 'NOW TV' if you haven't seen it before. We love Port Isaac and enjoyed the 3 1/2 days of good weather but came home a day early due to the weather.

  • "Great location, no parking so have to use main car park which is a bit of a walk and you have to pay although not too expensive."

Can park outside to drop off luggage. Very small shower room but fine. Book tables for dinner before you go very limited choice and with new COVID rules no hope of getting in on the off chance

  • "Cottage was lovely, clean and well equipped."

Perfectly situated in the heart of the village. Could have done with a few instructions on where to leave rubbish and recycling and also on operating the (brand new) washing machine. Maybe you could please be a little more honest about car parking....to simply state “parking nearby” is insufficient and misleading. Your best - and, most of the time, only - option is the main town car park which is at least 15 minutes walk, half a mile away up those steep hills and is a substantial addition to your holiday cost. While nobody expects to stay in beautiful Port Isaac and park outside your door and it didn’t spoil our week at all, it might be a bit more of a problem for others and I think you really ought to be a little clearer with your description.

The characterful Range cooker set in an exposed brick fireplace takes centre stage before the welcoming seating arrangement, which you can look forward to curing up upon after an action-packed day.

The kitchen boasts a range of quality appliances, including an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a quirky fridge, certain to entice a spot of home-cooking, and the handy washing machine, so that you can easily freshen up your clothes after a wonderful day at the beach.

Be sure to make a stop off at the nearby Golden Lion to delight in a hearty evening meal, complemented by a pint of great ale or head to the famous Nicky B's, to sample a delicious Cornish pasty.

Explore the maze of narrow streets, home to the narrowest thoroughfares in Britain, named the Squeezy Belly Alley, before stopping of at the picturesque harbour, where fishing and scenic trips can be taken during the summer months.

After enjoying the harbour side, start to climb up the Roscarrock Hill, forming the western edge of the harbour, where you will find a Methodist chapel, which is now the Port Isaac Pottery and Café, before you reach Fern Cottage, which was used as Doc Martins Surgery, in the popular TV series.

Keen walkers can use Port Isaac as a base in which to walk the famous South West Coast Path to enjoy the dramatic coastal landscape and to admire the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coastline.

Neighbouring Port Gaverne offers a small sandy beach, as well as opportunities for sea-kayaking and coasteering days out courtesy Ben at Cornish Rock Tors, whilst slightly further away is Polzeath, the area's best surfing beach.
