  • "The location is 5 star."

    However the property itself although it looked to have been finished to a high standard left us disappointed . I raised concerns before we arrived at the property after reading another review and I was emailed back to say that after speaking to the owner all the issues i had raised had been sorted. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. On arrival there was garden rubbish and bags of cement behind the property, which i had to call the managing company out to sort ( this was done very quickly- they were unaware i had raised concerns with Sykes) . There is NO TV aerial , so to watch you need to log into paid services like Amazon/Netflicks if you have them, or watch on demand -which was glitchy. The living room is set out to maximise space , but doesn't work if you want to watch TV, the settees are bed settees and not very comfortable to sit on. There is a washing machine, but a washing line in a plastic wrap and no pegs. This issue was raised with the management company and Sykes again during our stay, but was unresloved when we left . Being so close to a beach you need somewhere to hang wet beach clothes or clothes would have washed. This was very frustrating. The property has comfy beds, but lacks storage - one bedroom had none at all. We even bought an over door hanger with hooks which we left behind so at least some items could be hung up . Each double room only had one bedside table. One double room had a plug socket held onto the wall with tape . The shower leaks and there is no toilet roll holder in one bathroom and no towel holder in the other . The front door needs some attention,. Understandably being so close to the sea, salt can cause issues but although the door does lock the internal catch for the handle sticks in. You are unable to raise the handle to activate the bolts at the top of the door, they won't come out to secure the door fully . This means the front door always has a draft coming from it . There are plenty of plastic fake flowers !!! Outside the property there is a large grasses area to the front which looked to have been dug up and was uneven . There are some older garden chairs which are rusty and a new large wooden picnic bench that looks to have been damaged when it has been moved as it is a bit wobbly now. The outside cold shower to rinse off after being on the beach was a good addition. There are several cameras outside the property which i don't remember being mentioned in the property listings, and screens to see the camera action in the kitchen - my concerned were who else had access to watching this footage. There is building work going on behind the property, which did not cause too much of an issue . There was no sign of any recycling bags or information as to when to put the rubbish outside the property.

  • "The accommodation was not a home from home as with previous holiday cottages."

    The positives were it was well decorated and basically furnished. Negatives The tap water was boiling hot when we arrived. Fortunately my husband could sort out the thermostat. There were no instructions for electrical goods but my husband found them after a few days unopened in envelopes in a cupboard. The tv was unbelievable. Why have a high tec tv? We were unable to use it because we didn’t have our passwords. I guess they didn’t purchase a tv licence as that can be the only explanation for not having access to Freeview. We didn’t have a welcome tray of drinks and cakes and biscuits as in all other houses we have stayed in. There was very little for cleaning and all the houses we stayed in recently had all we needed. The outside of the windows needed cleaning and the debris at the back of the house needs clearing. There was a washing line but still in wrapper! No pegs and nowhere to hang it for our towels after time on the beach. There were no recycling bags. There were no extras such as books, games and dvds for example. Very little information on the area in the folder.

  • "The building works are ongoing."

    There was a very large crane behind and over the roof of the bungalow. Garden needs tidying up.The bathroom door frame was hanging off of the wall. There was no iron and somewhere to dry clothes would be useful. Small improvements are needed. Location is great. Beds very comfortable. Tv does not play normal live channels.

  • "The location to the beach was great, a few minutes walk to the beach down a steep hill."

    We had a number of issues during our stay. The property is on a busy main road. Although the house allows dogs the garden is not secure to let dogs out safely. We were not told that major building work was going on directly behind the house, with heavy machinery being used and workman were able to look into the kitchen window. The house itself needs lots of improvement and more thought on how to make it a comfortable stay. The toilet door on the cloakroom does not close, as the door has not been fitted properly and catches the door frame when you try to shut it. The door frame is also falling off. The garden was very messy with broken garden pots, weeds everywhere and the drain was blocked outside the kitchen door causing a bad smell. No toilet roll holder, shelves or hooks to hang clothes or anywhere to store toiletries in the main bathroom. No storage at all in the small bedroom. We had to sweep the small bedroom and make up the second bed on our arrival. Luckily we found a spare duvet in the cupboard. The only way to switch the bedside light on in the second bedroom was to plug it in by the bedroom door. The kitchen appliances were good but it does not have ample work surface as stated on the website. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because of the location of the property to the beach. I would have expected more from a property that we paid so much money for.
