  • "Beautiful cottage, comfy beds and great location."

The kitchen was well equipped , however it would be good to add a coffee plunger to the facilities and to have a few basics available like foil, kitchen spray etc. Not a huge problem at all just a suggestion. Would love to stay here again ., Many thanks, Su

Hi Su, thank you for your feedback and pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. There was a cafetière at the property when we were last down in the summer so apologies for its disappearance - we will look to replace. Kind Regards, Steve Property Owner

  • "Hi Kimberley house is a charming cottage However the showers are lethal."

The doors arent wide enough to get in & out. no handles to support you whilst getting in & out. My Son had a bad fall whilst getting out of the shower. Drains are blocked reported to Maintenance.still blocked after plummer attending. There are no comfortable chairs to sit on. My friend and I are in our twilight years.. Not suitable for our needs. • "The heating pipes vibrated so badly we had to switch it off at night."

It stopped working completely on the 3rd day. There was none of the promised wood for the log burners. I booked it because there was a bathroom each for my mum and me, but the upstairs bathroom was full of black mould. The tiny basin in the shower room was cracked right through. The freezer was so dirty I had to wrap our cool box blocks in cling film before putting them in there. There was dust and dirt everywhere. It was like someone had done a 5 minute whip round, but that was all. At over £100 a day, I expect a much better standard than this. Such a shame, as all our othere stays at Sykes cottages have been lovely.

  • "Beautiful cottage and setting."

The enclosed garden was perfect for our two pups. Very clean and welcoming on our arrival. It was always lovely to return to after our trips. Problem with downstairs toilet flush was attended to promptly when I contacted Flint. Thank you x

  • "Had an amazing week at Kimberly house."

We’re definitely looking at booking it again. It sleeps 7 so more than enough room for my husband and I along with our two greyhounds. Cottage has everything you need, everything works. The property has lots of character. Garden is massive, well kept, and enclosed Parking wasn’t an issue most of the time we got a space right outside on the square, but when that was full the free car park is a 2 min walk away and always had spaces. The village itself is so pretty, the pub is dog friendly and a 2 min walk away, we didn’t eat there so can’t comment if the food is good, only a mile or so from Newquay and short drives from other popular towns, it was a great base for exploring Cornwall, we didn’t want to leave!

Hi Jemma, Thank you for your feedback and sorry to hear you had some issues. The cleaning of the property is carried out by a 3rd party and we have now addressed this problem. In terms of the oven this problem was reported by the next guests and we immediately arranged for a new one to be fitted. • "Really enjoyed our stay at Kimberley House."

The kids loved playing in the games room and the dogs enjoyed the huge garden space! The cottage is very traditional and we loved the country feel - with modern facilities such as an Echo device in the kitchen and smart tv in the living room. Plenty of space inside and out of the cottage to avoid feeling cramped up with 6 of us and 2 dogs staying! It was in an ideal location to access lots of different activities for the kids (age 6 and 3), and lots of beautiful beaches all within a 10-20 minute drive. The pub at the top of the road was very welcoming and we had a great Sunday lunch there; we parked our cars in the car park to the right of the pub behind the church. We would absolutely consider coming back again we have had a fantastic holiday!

About the location

ST COLUMB MINOR

Porth 1 mile; Newquay 1.6 miles; Truro 14 miles.

St Columb Minor is a quiet village off the main road into Newquay, with a supermarket and an excellent local pub, the Farmers Arms. Here, apart from being well-known for their food and local ales, a varied range of weekly events prove most popular. Opposite the pub, is the magnificent village church, dating from around 1430, and the high tower has been a landmark for generations of fishermen. There are many lovely beaches on offer in Newquay that you will be spoilt for choice but, for families, Porth beach takes some beating. A lovely sandy beach with a sheltered aspect being protected by headlands on both sides, it has been a favourite with those in the know for many years. Just over a mile away is the town of Newquay which is known as the home of the UK’s surf scene, boasting three major beaches, the National Surf Centre and an endless supply of rolling surf, making it a watersports paradise!
