  • "Wonderful apartment."

Everything you could need for a short break in such a beautiful part of the country. Beautifully furnished and equipped. All clean and well maintained. Comfy bed and sofa. Very dog friendly. Just a few minutes walk to the beach. We had a super week and can’t wait to come back.

Thanks for your lovely review. Glad you enjoyed our apartment and your time in Porthcurno with your pet. You are most welcome to come back and stay with us again. Property Owner

  • "Balcony wooden decking floor hasn’t been cleaned in years it’s covered in clumps of dog hair moss and general dirt."

Plastic sides and rails are covered in cobwebs dirt and stains. Cutlery needs to be in another place as the drawer where it is currently stored is the wrong side of the worktop. Not able to store 4 pint milk container in fridge unless you remove broken salad drawer. Shower settings are difficult to get to a safe temperature. The reading light nearest the window goes out after a few minutes. All rugs need anti slip tape to prevent sliding accidents. Velux window extremely dirty and stiff to open. Toilet needed to be flushed twice to clean even small amount of toilet paper

Thank you for your feedback, but as they say down these parts there's a crow in every hedge !! Property Owner

  • "Tater du is the perfect place to stay as a couple of you are looking to have some downtime from the busy world."

We have no phone signal or wifi for the first day, but we bumped into the owner (who is lovely) and she sorted it out for us. We brought our little westie, I’d say if you were planning to bring a dog much bigger than a westie then Tater Du is most likely too small. The apartment was clean and cosy.

  • "Delightful apartment, there was everything we needed, the beach was only a short distance away, our little terrier loved the sea."

We walked along the Clift paths in all directions plus footpaths inland. We visited church’s, small coves and coastal villages, pubs for evening meals and meals in the apartment of Tater Du, real self catering. We would highly recommend this apartment for a real Cornish holiday. No mobile reception, no problem, WiFi slow, no problem. Don’t come here expecting a pub , cafe and a nail bar next door because this is a place to forget about everything modern and just have an old fashioned holiday, well done to the owners and well done Porthcurno.

  • "The location was good, but the property could do with improving, first thing we noticed was the dirty mouldy mop left at the side in a bag we obviously didn't use it because it was so dirty and there is no way I will be mopping the floor with something like that, the bathroom shower was also mouldy and the water pressure was horrible also the bathroom ceiling was full of mould, we pulled the bed out because I was feeling cramped between the wardrobes and all the back wall was full of mould and my boyfriend suffers with asthma, totally unacceptable."

The skirting boards and plug sockets were all dusty and you was walking around with other people's hair stuck to your socks, when we had taken all the linen off the bed there was a stain on the mattress and the Internet was that bad you might aswel turn it off. We spent £750 to stay for the week and for that money I thought it would be more professionally cleaned to a higher standard. I have pictures but I can't post them on here.

  • "Although it is good that the apartment has a BT router, the 0."

2 mbps it provides is almost unusable. It is also somewhat ironic as Porthcurno was once the centre of worldwide telegraphic communications.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the strength or speed of the WiFi at our properties. We hope this did not impact on your stay too much. Property Owner

  • "Thanks to Sue and Steve, our stay was wanting for nothing."

It was clean and tidy and never a problem for our hosts to help if needed. The new bed was comfortable and the location devine next to the greatest beach in the world Porthcurno. The minack theatre mind blowing and the communication museum a must. Tater-du is s well kept secret. I’m definitely coming back... brilliant.

  • "My complaint is not with Sykes, but with the quality of the accommodation."

The apartment offers little more space than a caravan. The bed and couch are obviously very old and astonishingly uncomfortable. The shower is adequate, but the rest of the bathroom appliances are poor. The kitchen is serviceable, but no better. The free to air television package is very limited, certainly not a patch on Freeview. Why? Cheaper? Visitors should also be aware that mobile phone reception in the valley is almost non-existent.

Thank you for taking the time to send us your comments. I am sorry you felt that the apartment was smaller than expected, we feel that the photographs show the layout and the property is marketed correctly in terms of space. The property is in a stunning location, tucked away in a valley in one of the most picturesque parts of Cornwall and thus mobile signal can be a problem. The property offers wifi. We take on board all feedback and as such the bed and sofa are being replaced this week. Once again, thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

The accommodation is on a very busy road if you are aware of this it would be more helpful, the side of the bed next to the window is very lumpy and uncomfortable but a change of mattress would fix that and it is not possible to open the bedroom window very far as the blind stops this.

  • "Very nice to have a carton of milk in the fridge & some lovely roses, this attention to detail does make a difference."

Out of interest the towel rail in the bathroom remains detached from its location on the wall, as it did last year, I fixed it myself last year & this year as best I could, but it really needs to be re-mounted properly in the wall. Also, there is no fridge light, I did look for a spare bulb in the kitchen drawers but could not find one, it would be nice if this could be remedied. I shall most probably rebook again for next year as we do like the apartment & the balcony looks so much better with a coat of paint & the glass infills.

The place was dirty.the food hadn't been swept which I had to do.the post were dirty as was the soap dish in the bathroom was, there was grime on the shower fixings that held it to the wall and the bed was very uncomfortable, lumpy and needs replacing, the sofa too was well used too,no support.I spent 7 nights sleeping on the floor as it was the better option compared to the bed. The patio table was full of black dog hairs and hadn't even been wiped. This booking cost me almost a month's wages and was very, very disappointed.would not return again!
