  • "I think for the size of the property, a larger fridge is needed, the supply of pots, pans etc."

    is amazing.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your stay at Chy An Fos, we can investigate into looking at a new fridge in the property but we do hope to welcome you back to North Cornwall again soon. John Brays Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owners. Property Owner

It is perfectly situated and feels like a real home. Although it is a little dated we found this charming.

  • "Master bedroom would be better with a super king size bed (bed was a little uncomfortable)."

The hot and cold taps in en-suite basin need new washers also there is a very bad airlock in the downstairs shower room. Kitchen could do with a decent set of sharp knives. Property in great location. One thing you unfortunately you can do nothing about is the lamp post right outside the house, we live in the South Downs national park and have no light pollution, so we found house very light during the night and hard to sleep. I think renters should be made aware of this? Also the speed of the cars down the road. We would definitely rent it again though. I was not impressed with my dealings with Sykes they need to up their game considerably if they want to match John Bray.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues. Your comments have been passed on to the team at John Bray Cornish Holidays. We hope you still managed to enjoy your visit despite these issues and would love to welcome you back to North Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "I thought that the excessive price hike heat on year (£800, with £200 indemnity) was too high, coupled with the poor cleaning detail in the property (old boxer shorts from previous people included) was not good."

The property is in a great location and had everything we wanted, however the lack of basic facilities (salt / pepper run out, plus a quarter of toilet roll left) left us feeling that the property is more of a cash cow for the owners rather than a good customer experience. Most Sykes properties include a bottle of wine, milk and nice touches upon entry (flowers etc) from all previous visits we’ve had. Lastly, it’s very difficult to tell a four year old that she can’t go on a trampoline that needs condemning as she doesn’t understand the concept! All in all, a few detailed touches and lighter bill for the experience would have made for far better reviews, but sadly there was no eye for detail in this property at the price paid.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We're very sorry that you had to experience these issues during your stay. Your comments have been passed on to the team at John Bray Cornish Holidays- John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "The property was situated in a very good location."

Balconies overlooking the estuary were very nice. Overall the property was of a reasonable standard but getting a bit "tired" with need for upgrading, especially the bathrooms. The description of the outside suitable for BBQ was misleading in that there was no BBQ facility. Also, plenty of space for bikes etc meant that you actually had to leave them outside which is not suitable for expensive items.

Thank you for your comments. We will investigate these. We hope you enjoyed your stay regardless of these issues and would love to welcome you back in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay very much."

In the properties which allow dogs it might be good to have a beach guide for dogs and perhaps some info on pubs or eateries that accept dogs. We did our own research and visited four new beaches Harlyn Bay, Constantine Bay, Booby's Bay and Holywell Bay. Plus our favourites Rock and Daymer Bay. We also hired dog crates at the cycle hire to tow so we were able to do the camel trail to Padstow with our old dog and puppy who both can not walk too far.

The property

Chy An Fos is a traditional, reverse-level holiday home located just a stone’s throw from North Cornwall's most popular watersport beaches.

Enjoying views of the Camel Estuary and beyond, this well-located holiday home in Rock, sleeps up to eight guests, making it the perfect base for family groups.

Making the most of the elevated, coastal views, there is a large and spacious open-plan kitchen, dining area and sitting room on the first floor, featuring patio doors, leading out onto the balcony with a beautiful backdrop; at low tide, the moored sailing boats are beached, and the sandbanks are a glimmering golden colour, and when the tide is in, the estuary is deep blue and full of activity.

Within the sitting room there is a fun "ships bar" to prepare your evenings drinks, a lovely addition to the home, offering a social space to gather!

The master bedroom with its en-suite also rests upstairs, with balcony and views, whilst the lovely, terraced gardens are accessed via the split-level stair way, offering sunny spaces to sit and enjoy the sea views in perfect peace.

The ground floor hosts the other three bedrooms, alongside a family bathroom and a separate shower room, and a fully-equipped utility room.

With plenty of private parking and space to park a boat, there is room for all your sailing gear, surf boards and bikes at Chy An Fos.

On foot, you're right in the heart of Rock, under 500 meters from the dog-friendly beaches of Porthilly and Rock, and a choice of several bars and restaurants that are mostly dog-friendly as well; a short walk away, you’ll also discover the main shops and other local amenities of Rock.

Just a short ferry ride away lies Padstow's pretty harbour and the start of the Camel Trail, perfect for walking or cycling along the river to Wadebridge.

All of this awaits with a stay at Chy An Fos.
