  • "A beautifully clean and well kept cottage, very small but perfectly sized for two people wanting a cozy break."

Easy access to all Porthleven facilities and beach and a lovely welcome gift for Christmas upon arrival. It had everything we would have wanted and lead to a great holiday.

  • "Brilliant location."

High standard of cleanliness. Only slight problem was the stairs to go upto bedroom and downstairs for the kitchen. We were ok but some may struggle as stairs very steep and awkward.

Thank you for taking the time to write feedback. We are glad to hear of your positive comments. We do state on the website that the stairs are steep. We are sorry this was missed. - The Cornish Cottage Holidays Team. Property Owner

Quite scary getting up for the bathroom in the night.

  • "Lovely cottage five minutes walk to the harbour."

Spotlessly clean and everything you need for a relaxed holiday. Yes - the stairs are steep but this just adds to the quirkiness of this beautiful cottage. The log fire was lovely and warm, WiFi connection was great, and everything was of quality in the kitchen. Lots of places to eat in the village and takeaways available if you don’t want to venture out. Great walks nearby. Ideal for the dog. Definitely recommend this to anyone.

  • "We could have been told in advance that in order to eat out at the town/village we were staying in we would need to book tables well in advance of arrival."

There were five proper restaurants in the town but all were booked up several weeks in advance - a common occurance according to the staff at these establishments. So we had to travel to eat out every night.

  • "We have just spent two wonderful weeks in this beautiful place."

It was made even more special because of this cottage. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, well equipped kitchen and only a 5 minute walk to the Harbour. The stairs to the kitchen and bedroom are very steep as others have said so we were prepared for that but were absolutely fine for us. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Well equipped and very clean. Beautifully decorated. Only one problem….seagulls on roof starting their dawn chorus at 05.00 hrs! Deafening.

  • "We had a lovely week away in the cottage."

It was in such a grand location for exploring, very well equipped and kept, and even had a little surprise cream tea provided on arrival. The shower and bath were epic, as was the funny downstairs loo. Really good little find. A few observations that are well documented - the stairs are steep and the bed is low, and it's not always guaranteed you'll get a parking space bang outside, so bear in mind if there's mobility issues in your party. Also duck when leaving the door out of the kitchen if you are tall, a few smacked heads occurred. But we had a fantastic time, thank you to the hosts.

Easy access for everything in the town, and to go off for the day. The cottage itself we couldn’t fault. It was everything it looked to be and more. A great getaway for a couple. Beautifully presented, tidy, clean and safe. Kitchen facilities perfect. And the welcome of cream, jam and scones on arrival made it extra special! Thank you!!

  • "My husband, our cavalier Stan Lee and I had a lovely holiday in Porthleven, Cornwall- the cottage was in a great location, very close to the harbour."

We went on a couple of beautiful coastal walks and visit to Penrose Estate when the weather was fair. We also had rain but that didn't matter, we had a walk around the harbour and visited the charming shops and cafes and returned back to cottage to warm up by the cosy wood stove. Most of the shops, restaurants and cafes are dog friendly in Porthleven, so no one got left behind! The cottage was beautiful and had very amenity that we needed. The only issue we had (and this is a personal issue!) is the stairs in the cottage were a bit steep for Stan Lee's wee legs, so we had to carry him up and down the stairs to the kitchen. Overall we had great time and love to come back again.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Fisherman's Cottage."

The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and we found it well equipped and very comfortable. The cream tea and roses in the kitchen were a very nice welcome as were the milk in the fridge and the tea/coffee - we didn't need to bring our own! It was well situated for a nice stroll down to the harbour. We would definitely look at staying here again if it is available when we are next in the area and would highly recommend it - although the stairs are a bit steep if anyone has issues with stairs, but the grab rails were well placed and very helpful - even for us with no problems :) Very enjoyable stay.

  • "The cottage was everything that we needed, it was spotlessly clean, the facilities were first class."

There were even scones jam and clotted cream as a welcome gift for us. It was a very short 5 minute walk to the harbour and all the shops and restaurants, and a community supermarket. There is available parking in the street outside but not always outside the cottage as it is of a premium but we were always able to park relatively close by. The cottage is very well equipped and I would thoroughly recommend it was a superb base for exploring the area and Lands End and other sites.

! No, seriously, the locals are very friendly and helpful with any of your queries. We are of quite a senior age but we love coming back to this village, but if you are younger and energetic, there are plenty of walking routes from this village, apart from the tourist sites such as St Michaels Mount, Seal Sanctuary, Minac Theatre, Lands End.....the list goes on. The cottage itself was absolutely wonderful, a cream tea awaited us in the kitchen, flowers in a vase, woodburner stove laid ready to light and every conceivable kitchen item that you might need. Plus, TV, CD/DVD player and selection of films, books for holiday reading if wet weather, a manual on the workings of each electrical/mechanical appliance provided. The cottage was spotless and the decoration looked as though it had been done last week. All in all, what else could you ask for.

Porthleven is one of south west Cornwall’s hidden, coastal gems, located near Helston, famous for its annual Flora Dance Festival. Situated between Lizard Point and Land’s End, Porthleven retains the feel of a traditional Cornish fishing village, enjoying uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful Cornish coastline. The iconic clock tower sits on the harbour entrance and the pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants cluster around the historic picturesque inner harbour, where there is plenty of boating and marine activity. With a warren of streets lined with classic Cornish, granite cottages, an extensive beach manned with lifeguards, the chance for alfresco dining in one of a number of well reviewed restaurants, and crabbing off the harbour, there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, all year round. Porthleven is building a reputation for eating out with a popular food festival established in the spring. Out of season, Porthleven has one of the best surf breaks in the country where you can sit down and get lost for hours watching the energetic surfers riding the waves. There are some fabulous hidden coves along this stretch of coastline, including Praa Sands, Poldhu Cove, and Rinsey, a magical setting for the more energetic. You may have even seen pictures of Porthleven on television, being one of the best spots in the UK for storm watching, with the crashing winter waves often being used as the backdrop to weather forecasts. Walkers will enjoy the South West Coast Path, adventuring west past Rinsey Head with spectacular views, or south across Loe Bar to Penrose Estate with its National Trust cafe, and on to Gunwalloe Church Cove. Take a trip to the Isles of Scilly by boat or plane and marvel at the display of sub-tropical gardens at the stunning Tresco Abbey. The Eden Project near St. Austell offers an interesting day out. Porthleven is the ideal base for discovering the delights of west Cornwall and the Lizard Peninsula.
