  • "Great location for centre of Porthleven."

Comfortable beds and chairs. Second bedroom is somewhat cosy, OK for us as only one person was using it. Bathroom mirror way to low for most, needs replacing with something with adjustable height. TV could do with an upgrade.

  • "Just returned from a fabulous week at Kernow Cottage."

On first impressions this is a house at the bottom end of a small housing estate . However the location couldn’t be better . A two minute walk brings you to shops and the harbour. The house itself has off street parking , which I think is a bit of a rarity in Porthleven . Inside was spotlessly clean and well equipt with everything you could possible need . The house is ‘upside down’ with the bedrooms being on the ground floor . There was only the two of us so we used the second bedroom for storage area. It is rather small with just about enough room for two single beds , but would be absolutely fine for children and it did have its own small fitted wardrobe . The main bathroom is upstairs, but there is also a downstairs toilet so you don’t have to negotiate the stairs in the middle of the night . I wouldn’t hesitate on recommending Kernow Cottage , and we will certainly stay again when we next visit Porthleven

  • "Kernow Cottage is in an ideal location a few streets away from the harbour, literally a few minutes walk away."

The cottage is comfortable and well equipped, suitable for a couple or maybe a family with small children. Although there is a second bedroom, this wouldn't be suitable for four adults. It's great that there is a driveway for off street parking. A lovely place to relax after a day walking and exploring this beautiful area.

  • "We had a lovely time at Kernow Cottage."

We couldn’t fault a thing. It had everything we needed in it and was so perfectly close to everything: the harbour, beach, shops and restaurants. The history of the house and town were fascinating to read about in the guides and welcome book provided. The guest book was great for ideas of places to visit and eat in. The parking space was such a bonus. We loved every minute and had rebooked for next year before we left! We can’t wait to come back next year - we are already counting down the days!

Thie is the fourth time we have stayed there and it is always beautifully presented, clean and welcoming, and we intend to return for as many times as our ages permit.

  • "A lovely upside down house to stay in, which we wasn’t expecting."

Quite glad the bedrooms were downstairs as it was quite warm when we stayed and with the bedrooms being downstairs meant they were cool at night. The house has everything you need for a stay in Porthleven, only 3 minutes from the main harbour (yes we timed it!). Would definitely stay here again.

  • "This was our second holiday staying in Kernow Cottage."

It had everything we could possibly need and was very comfortable. It was great to be able to walk to the harbour so quickly and easily. Porthleven has a variety of places to eat and some lovely little shops. The bonus with this cottage was having our own parking space, rather than parking on the road, which is the case with lots of holiday cottages in the village. Many thanks!

It is a very comfortable house, well appointed and in a quiet location, yet only a few minutes walk to the town of Portleven and the harbour. We love the town, and there is always something happening to watch. It is also well-placed as a centre for visits to places of interest in other parts of Cornwall.

Very very comfortable. The position of the cottage was perfect with a pint at ‘The Ship’, the furthest part of the harbour, only a five minute stroll away and lots of excellent restaurants to choose from along the way. We enjoyed it so much we have booked again next year.

  • "The house inside was great, it had everything that we needed for a comfortable holiday."

We felt the outside area was let down. The back yard had a table and chairs but was surrounded on 3 sides with high grey walls, there was no plants or anything to brighten it up at all and it just felt very unloved and had zero wow factor

We were glad that the visitors thought the house inside was great and enjoyed a comfortable holiday. As the picture of the patio on the Sykes website shows, the rear high wall running the length of the house, offers privacy and is painted white. There are shrubs, bulbs and a flowering bush, planted in the raised bed at one end of the patio, which is further enclosed by the rear wall of the house and a small side wall. The patio is swept and cleaned weekly and the patio furniture is new for the season. Property Owner

A short car drive is Penzance and our favourite Falmouth. The property is well equipped, and looks to have recently been refurbished, however there were a few minor jobs that need to be addressed, also we thought some net curtains would have been a nice touch. All in all a property in a good location well equipped, by the sea.

The neighbours were friendly and said hello. Well equipped and comfortable house. House was warm and there was plenty of hot water. However, the kitchen could do with another large lidded saucepan, a large lidded saute/wok pan and some slotted plastic spoons. Cleanliness - Surfaces were dusty. All mirrors smeared. Fridge needed a wipe inside. Mould inside plastic rim of washing machine. It was stated in note from owners that non-recyclable bin bags were provided under the sink - but there were none. We had bought our own cleaning supplies etc, so we left a few of our own bags for the next visitors. On the Tuesday evening a kind neighbour put out the black waste bin (normally stored in storage container in front of house) in which we put our black sack of non-recyclable waste. Despite the slight let-down with the cleanliness issues, we would stay there again.

Situated between Land’s End and Lizard Point, this lovely cottage exudes Cornish charm and comfort and is the perfect base for an ideal family holiday.

Tucked away behind the main street, this delightful cottage, with off road parking for two cars and an enclosed garden, is an upside down house with both bedrooms being on the ground floor, and the comfortable, well-designed, living area on the first floor.

This consists of a kitchen with dining area, (divided from the sitting area) where you can relax with a refreshing drink whilst planning the day ahead.

Outside, the patio is the ideal place to relax after a day spent touring or on the beach.

It is worth getting up early one morning to see the small fishing boats land their daily catch on the harbour, much of which is sold in the local cafés and restaurants, as well as the award-winning fishmongers.

Porthleven has for many years attracted visitors who want to get away from it all and be inspired by the beautiful natural surroundings and the way of life.

Local boat trips, fishing trips and kayaking are all available from the harbour.

About the location

PORTHLEVEN

Helston 3 miles; Penzance 10 miles; Hayle 11 miles; St. Ives 17 miles; Falmouth 17.5 miles.

Porthleven is one of south west Cornwall’s hidden, coastal gems, located near Helston, famous for it's annual Flora Dance Festival. Situated between Lizard Point and Land’s End, Porthleven retains the feel of a traditional Cornish fishing village, enjoying uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful Cornish coastline. The iconic clock tower sits on the harbour entrance and the pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants cluster around the historic picturesque inner harbour, where there is plenty of boating and marine activity. With a warren of streets lined with classic Cornish, granite cottages, an extensive beach manned with lifeguards, the chance for alfresco dining in one of a number of well reviewed restaurants, and crabbing off the harbour, there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, all year round. Porthleven is building a reputation for eating out with a popular food festival established in the spring. Out of season, Porthleven has one of the best surf breaks in the country where you can sit down and get lost for hours watching the energetic surfers riding the waves. There are some fabulous hidden coves along this stretch of coastline, including Praa Sands, Poldhu Cove, and Rinsey, a magical setting for the more energetic. You may have even seen pictures of Porthleven on television, being one of the best spots in the UK for storm watching, with the crashing winter waves often being used as the backdrop to weather forecasts. Walkers will enjoy the South West Coast Path, adventuring west past Rinsey Head with spectacular views, or south across Loe Bar to Penrose Estate with it's National Trust cafe, and on to Gunwalloe Church Cove. Take a trip to the Isles of Scilly by boat or plane and marvel at the display of sub-tropical gardens at the stunning Tresco Abbey. The Eden Project near St. Austell offers an interesting day out. Porthleven is the ideal base for discovering the delights of west Cornwall and the Lizard Peninsula.
