  • "Lovely view ."

Night storage heaters ,always difficult to regulate the heat .Upstairs bath very deep and would be difficult for a person with mobility issues or to bath a baby .Yes there was parking for three cars but the slope would deter a nervous person .Dishwasher was a surprise .clothes washing facilities good .Accept 4 o’clock arrival ,but 9 o’clock departure early ,especially if six have to wash and children are involved .Rubbish bins got full ,and not clear if anything gets recycled .We would have hoovered before departure ,if there had been one .Two bedrooms did not have a window to fresh air ,might be hot in summer .Property was clean ,and kitchen facilities good .Good location to walk into Porthleven

It is well equipped, spacious and well placed for touring. The views from the house are a treat, the harbour area is well worth a visit and there are several shops and places to eat. We hope to have a third visit in 2024.

Negatives: The downstairs shower had some black mould along the bottom of the door Bed comfort 3/5 Upstairs bedrooms not ideal leading onto garden room .. too hot in hot weather Thought garden room was an unnecessary addition. Driveway very steep Positives: Excellently equipped kitchen/utility Comfortable lounge area Lovely garden space Suggestions: A bbq would be a welcome addition Cushions for the garden chairs

Thank you for taking the time to send in your feedback. The mould along the bottom of the shower door has been dealt with. All the beds have new mattresses. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and we hope to maybe welcome you back again. Property Owner

We could not figure out how to operate the new hotplate and needed some help. There were no instructions .We could therefore not have our usual egg and bacon breakfast Regards, Graham and Linda Swift

Thank you for completing your feedback. There was an error with the telephone number for the housekeeper, this has now been corrected. The hotplate is an induction hob, so the rings will not heat up until a pan is put onto the ring. Property Owner

The situation is ideal with fabulous views of the ocean from every window. The garden at the back of the house is beautifully tiered and an ideal place to watch the sun setting in the evening. Only a 5 minute walk to the beach and 10 minutes to the harbour. We loved Porthlevan and the sun shone on us.

Easy driving distance to famous Cornish landmarks. Lovely views of the sea from the cottage and terraced garden. Suited our needs admirably. Loved Porthleven with its harbour, pubs, restaurants an easy 10 minute walk away. Would have no hesitation in recommending the property to a friend. Thank you for a lovely family holiday, even the weather on the whole was good.

It was well equipped and we were grateful of the stair gate, high chair and travel cot that was all provided. Great location with 10/15 min walk into Porthleven and Loe Bar also right on your doorstep to walk round. We are regulars down to Cornwall but first time with a toddler in tow so we visited a new place for us - Paradise Park in Hayle can highly recommend for little ones! Thank you for a lovely holiday just what we needed.

  • "The cottage was lovely one of the best equipped holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in."

It had beautiful sea views. My boys especially liked the games room where they played table tennis. There is plenty of places to visit so it makes a good base. But the harbour is beautiful so if you don’t want to go far it’s nice to walk down to it. Go left from cottage and you have nice cliff walk. Altogether a gorgeous holiday destination.

The views from the living house and garden are amazing! It’s just a short walk down to the shops and pubs but also on the edge of the Penrose Estate so handy for long walks and the beach. The property had everything we needed and more and is clearly very well looked after. We’ll definitely be looking to book again!

  • "An excellent property in a great location with marvellous sea views ."

All the many positives in respect of this good sized, well equipped property with great coastal views in a wonderful quiet location on the outskirts of the village are well reflected in previous published guest feedback. However as also previously noted there are a number of areas for improvement which the owners should address. In particular more attention to the cleaning which superficially was fine. During our stay we had a significant issue with the electrics tripping after rain, the housekeeper/owner does not answer the published phone number (previously noted). Sykes Holidays, who are difficult to contact due to their telephone queuing system, offered very little visible useful support and we finally got the issue, hopefully, resolved through assistance from Cornish Cottage Holidays.

  • "Very well situated with magnificent views only down side was the steepness of the drive which we were not aware of which made parking more difficult than I wanted."

The property was well laid out and well equipped with thoughts given to leisure activities should the weather be not suitable to go out. The tumble dryer was full of clothes fluff which we removed before use as it could have potentially been a fire hazard. The property at end of main season probably needs a deep clean rather than a normal changeover clean as there are areas such as bathrooms that need attention. We did really enjoy our break and would recommend the cottage should the items be addressed

  • "We have stayed here before and love it for it's location and sea views."

However the cottage is looking a little tired now and could do with a bit of an update. The new bigger TV was a hit though. The standard of cleaning was not as I would expect. I think the cottage could do with a good spring clean every 6 months or so to get rid of the carpet stains and to clean the cutlery drawer of all the crumbs that like to dwell in there! The glass doors in the kitchen were also very smeary and greasy.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your recent stay at Pendrea. Following a very busy season we have since had the carpets cleaned following your stay and plan to replace them in the new year. We are pleased to hear that despite the points mentioned you enjoyed your stay and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "A fabulous holiday home with lovely views and in a great location for walking into the harbour and village."

The welcome gift of wine, biscuits and flowers are a wonderful touch and there was even a pint of milk in the fridge so we could have a much needed cup of tea whilst unpacking. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need even down to crabbing nets which were well used by my children. The games room is fantastic for if the weather isn’t great and led to some family competitiveness between adults and children - the children won! The only negative points were the standard of cleaning and the housekeeper phone numbers provided by both the email confirmation and in the welcome folder in the house are not recognised when called. Cornish cottage holidays have acknowledged this and have contacted the owner but to date there had been no update. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pendrea and would definitely recommend to friends.

About the location

PORTHLEVEN

Helston 3 miles; Penzance 10 miles; Hayle 11 miles; St. Ives 17 miles; Falmouth 17.5 miles.

Porthleven is one of south west Cornwall’s hidden, coastal gems, located near Helston, famous for it's annual Flora Dance Festival. Situated between Lizard Point and Land’s End, Porthleven retains the feel of a traditional Cornish fishing village, enjoying uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful Cornish coastline. The iconic clock tower sits on the harbour entrance and the pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants cluster around the historic picturesque inner harbour, where there is plenty of boating and marine activity. With a warren of streets lined with classic Cornish, granite cottages, an extensive beach manned with lifeguards, the chance for alfresco dining in one of a number of well reviewed restaurants, and crabbing off the harbour, there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, all year round. Porthleven is building a reputation for eating out with a popular food festival established in the spring. Out of season, Porthleven has one of the best surf breaks in the country where you can sit down and get lost for hours watching the energetic surfers riding the waves. There are some fabulous hidden coves along this stretch of coastline, including Praa Sands, Poldhu Cove, and Rinsey, a magical setting for the more energetic. You may have even seen pictures of Porthleven on television, being one of the best spots in the UK for storm watching, with the crashing winter waves often being used as the backdrop to weather forecasts. Walkers will enjoy the South West Coast Path, adventuring west past Rinsey Head with spectacular views, or south across Loe Bar to Penrose Estate with it's National Trust cafe, and on to Gunwalloe Church Cove. Take a trip to the Isles of Scilly by boat or plane and marvel at the display of sub-tropical gardens at the stunning Tresco Abbey. The Eden Project near St. Austell offers an interesting day out. Porthleven is the ideal base for discovering the delights of west Cornwall and the Lizard Peninsula.
