  • "Heating and TV are a bit of a pain, heated mirror in shower room not working and a couple of the pans needed cleaning , other wise all good ,must be as we have stayed at Rock Pool House 4 times now."

  • "Rock Pool House is beautifully decorated and equipped."

Everything you need is available. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The beds are very comfortable. It’s in a great location and the parking space is an added bonus Porthlevan was quiet when we were there as it was November but, I know parking is very difficult in the summer. The only two slightly less than perfect features were that the heating can be tricky to control and that the main oven wasn’t working. These wouldn’t stop us staying again or recommending the apartment as it is a really great little find.

Porthleven is beautiful and central to so many other great places. Rock pool house was clean, spacious and perfect with our 4 year old daughter. We will be returning.

  • "The photograph of the outside area was misleading."

The outside area and steps definitely need a clean. The downstairs bathroom requires a fan to clear the steam when showering. A fan would reduce the build up of mould on the grout. The location was perfect and I would definitely recommend the apartment to anyone.

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and would recommend the apartment. The extractor fans in the shower/bathroom are silent by design. We will review the cleaning products with our cleaning team. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay, the property is clean and comfortable."

It is has has been decorated to a nice standard and has everything you need, including a good range of kitchen utensils for longer stays. It is conveniently located and Porthleven is a lovely village to stay in with plenty of eateries, a good atmosphere and nice walks. I would note that I think it would be easier if the door from the car port into the property opened into the yard rather than into your car - makes for a tight entrance at the minute and would be easy to accidentally damage the side of your car. The TV in the lounge was very intermittent (we didn’t use the other tvs) this could have been the internet but that seemed fine on other devices.

Thank you for your feedback and raising these points, we will look into them. We are glad to hear you had a lovely stay and hope to see you back again soon. Property Owner

Only thing it would have been good to have was a shower head for the bath so its easier to wash your hair. Otherwise, it was perfect for our stay.

  • "We absolutely love Porthleven and have stayed in a few places there over the years."

This was definitely one of the top ones!! Very comfortable and spacious. Ideal for when our grown up children come and stay as we have our own privacy on the second floor. If I were to have a niggle about anything it would be nice to have a blind at the kitchen window but small detail really.

  • "Rockpool House really is the perfect place to stay in Porthleven, absolutely and perfectly well placed, spotlessly clean and so comfortable."

The decor is wonderful and the overall space quirky and roomy. We being a family of 5 plus our dog loved it here and would 100% come back again, highly recommended for anyone wishing to take in the friendly people and atmosphere on Porthleven. The only downside is we had to leave after a fantastic and relaxing week

  • "This deceptively spacious property is ideally situated for exploring Porthleven and the private parking is a huge bonus."

We had used the property several years ago when it was a functioning shop and post office so knew its location when we booked. Rock Pool House was warm, the beds very comfortable and we had everything we required for a great holiday. The layout of the toilet, shower and bathroom made it perfect for two holidaying couples. We couldn't get the oven/grill to work (didn't need it as there are so many lovely places to eat) and the electric blew when we first turned it on. This was only a minor issue and easily sorted - the fuse box is in the pan cupboard! There is plenty of crockery available and an eco friendly cleaning pack was provided, along with milk and biscuits. We found this to be an excellent property and would visit again

  • "The parking is only suitable for a medium/small car and only then if the Chinese don’t block the way."

The electrics keep tripping out leaving a reset on the oven and the tv is operated by the internet…..also kept dropping out. The positives are that it’s convenient for the harbour and that it is well furnished.

  • "The outside area was disappointing as it had been advertised as a ‘terrace’ when it was just a table and chairs at the bottom of some steps."

The property was not as clean as it should be. There was sand which had not been swept away under a mat and the games cupboard under the stairs was thick with dust. Had the impression the house had been given a quick wipe over between guests. Very comfortable property, kitchen well equipped and very comfortable beds, lovely bathroom. We would stay here again but the cleaning and terrace were the only negatives.

Thank you for your feedback, we are delighted to know you enjoyed your stay. There is a fan on the top floor, but we will check if more are required in the other rooms. The velux blinds are thermally reflective and if drawn during the hottest days assist in reducing the room temperature. Property Owner

We being in our 70s could not work the Smart T.V's other than B.B.C. There were programmes on I.T.V. that we would have liked but they were not available. Not of this would deter us from staying at Rock Pool House in the future.

  • "The property is lovely and truly comfy but there are a couple of things which could do with looking at."

The heating is very complicated and it looked like the thermostats were locked and so couldn't actually turn the heating on. We did use the log burner a lot which was very handy. The cooker didn't work and when we tried to turn it on then it would trip the electrics which wasn't helpful when we were trying to cook. There is one window in the dining area which doesn't close properly so it does let a draft and noise in. Although we got the TVs to work it is very much a pain to log into the players when you don't have accounts for these things. I think older people would struggle with this. Also, while we understand the time of year but the stairs leading up to the apartment could have been swept as there was a lot of moss balls on the steps and the little courtyard which made things a little slippy. These are the things that made me give 4 stars, otherwise the stay was lovely.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. The heating has been checked and all working fine, no issues found with the thermostats. The switch for the main oven on the range cooker was found to be faulty, although it didn't trip the electrics whilst we were testing it. The switch has now been replaced. Regarding the moss balls, these are regularly swept up by the housekeepers, but the seagulls constantly knock moss and debris from the roof, which isn't really noticeable in the Summer but definitely tricky at this time of year. Aside from this we are glad that you had an enjoyable stay. Property Owner

  • "The only downside was the tv, there were 4 in the property but all were “smart” TVs so you could not get live tv to see the news."

The broadband could not sustain the TVs so we had no reception for the first 2 days until we realised what the problem was and turned off the 3 bedroom TVs. This did rather spoil our enjoyment of what was otherwise a very comfortable and ideally placed apartment.

Thank you for your feedback, we hope the TV guide in the property helped once located. We are glad to hear you found Rock Pool House comfortable and in a good location. Property Owner

As a family of 5 we were more than catered for from this property. It seemed like it was just renovated and we loved the newness of it. Not promoted enough. Such a joy to have luxury, clean, comfortable and pet friendly accommodation with little details of games and consumables to add to the experience. The off street parking was also a handy and welcome extra we didn’t expect. I hope future guests give it the care the owners obviously have. All in all 10/10. Well done

The iconic clock tower sits on the harbour entrance and the pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants cluster around the historic picturesque inner harbour, where there is plenty of boating and marine activity. With a warren of streets lined with classic Cornish, granite cottages, an extensive beach manned with lifeguards, the chance for alfresco dining in one of a number of well reviewed restaurants, and crabbing off the harbour, there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, all year round. Porthleven is building a reputation for eating out with a popular food festival established in the spring. Out of season, Porthleven has one of the best surf breaks in the country where you can sit down and get lost for hours watching the energetic surfers riding the waves. There are some fabulous hidden coves along this stretch of coastline, including Praa Sands, Poldhu Cove, and Rinsey, a magical setting for the more energetic. You may have even seen pictures of Porthleven on television, being one of the best spots in the UK for storm watching, with the crashing winter waves often being used as the backdrop to weather forecasts. Walkers will enjoy the South West Coast Path, adventuring west past Rinsey Head with spectacular views, or south across Loe Bar to Penrose Estate with it's National Trust cafe, and on to Gunwalloe Church Cove. Take a trip to the Isles of Scilly by boat or plane and marvel at the display of sub-tropical gardens at the stunning Tresco Abbey. The Eden Project near St. Austell offers an interesting day out.
