  • "The loft was a fantastic place to stay spotless clean beautifull interior very tastefully put together well equipped good location for all amenities quit hilley though if you have health problems we loved the walks clocked up 16,ooo steps most days ."

Loved the welcome pack for when we arrived one thing I would say was the balcony needs sealing in quite dangerous for dogs and children could fall straight through .

  • "What can I say about the loft ?"

One word springs to mind ….Perfect . Spotlessly clean , excellent location , beautifully decorated and well equipped . The lovely welcome pack was a real treat and the robes and slippers were a lovely surprise . The balcony is a little sun trap. The present garden furniture needs replacing but I’m sure this will be addressed by the owners , judging by the standards of the rest of the property . The view from the lounge is fabulous, especially when viewed through the binoculars found in the coffee table drawer .Porthleven was a delight, and is a few minutes walk from the cottage if you keep left when leaving the property. Not too big or busy , but with plenty of quirky shops, great pubs and restaurants serving excellent food . Not to mention the two Michelin starred restaurants next door to each other . The walk back up from the harbour is up hill but is not too far and it’s always worth stopping at the Ship Inn for refreshments en route ! We will definitely return to The Loft in the future, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it .

  • "Lovely cottage 5 minutes walk from the many great restaurants in the village."

Welcome pack consisted of tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, flowers and.......a cream tea. Just what you need after a long drive. Property was well equipped, spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfy. If there were two teeny points for the owners, a chest of drawers in the bedroom would be great and there is only one hanger by the door for coats but they really are minor points. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hope to come again. Two handy tips. 1. Always book the restaurants in advance as they get booked up quite quickly. 2. Take a car cleaning brush with you because the seagulls do not discriminate between makes, models or colours of cars. They just splatter the lot!!!

  • "Absolutely lovely property!"

Perfect for the two of us and our little dog. super comfy bed and sofa with fab views from the balcony. Excellent facilities. Only room for improvement is perhaps a small chest of drawers for clothes that dont need hanging. Either in the bedroom or wardrobe. Also some info either on the website or prior to stay, to say what is provided (e.g tea towels and hairdryer) as we brought them but need'nt have. Otherwise absolutely fantastic property! Would love to stay again!

  • "Beautiful cottage with lots of little touches that made all the difference."

Comfy bed which I loved and the location of the cottage was prefect. Tiniest downside was the temperature of the water in the shower - could’ve been hotter.

  • "We loved out stay at the Loft."

Funnily we have stayed in the cottage next door so had a comparison! It was very comfortable which was important because we were stuck indoors being battered by two storms! The welcome food and drink was lovely and much appreciated. The bed was the comfiest and best sleep we've had in years! We hopefully will be back for sure!

Loved the view from the big living room window and would appreciate a little folding table there, just to put on a glass or a cup, when you sit there and enjoy the view.

  • "The Loft is a lovely place to stay."

It was comfortable and spotlessly clean. We loved being able to see the Sea.The harbour, shops and restaurants are a short walk away. It is quite cosy (small ) but this is reflected in the property details, and suitable for 2 people. One suggestion would be to make better use of the kitchen cupboard space and to provide practical kitchen items, such as more plates, mugs and tumblers which were in short supply and a couple of ovenproof dishes suitable for 2 people would have been useful. However lots of other extras had been thoughtfully provided, . Guests who are less mobile should be aware that the stairs are quite steep, and also access to the entrance was partially blocked all week by someone's car being parked immediately outside the door. Overall though a lovely place to stay.

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you found The Loft a lovely place to stay. The owners have now provided more oven dishes in the property. Property Owner

  • "The cottage itself was very good, clean and comfortable."

Your unwillingness to allow us to cancel the holiday when we were unable to attend last year was wrong, the way our requests were dealt with was poor and unprofessional and we will never book through Sykes again. Similarly, we will advise all our family and friends to avoid Sykes like the plague.

Thank you very much for your feedback, we're very happy you found The Loft to be clean and comfortable and we're glad that despite all of the challenges you were able to enjoy a lovely holiday. We are sorry however that you feel let down by our approach to dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. We can confirm that all customers who were legally unable to take their holidays were offered either a full refund or the ability to amend their dates. Although delayed, we're very glad many people have been able to enjoy a happy holiday this year. Property Owner

  • "The Loft was absolutely exceptional."

The location was spot on for the beautiful harbour village of Porthleven. It was quiet and warm and cosy and spotlessly clean. The decor was modern with tasteful touches relating to the Cornwall area - and the local produce left for us when we arrived made us both smile. The views from the upstairs window were really something special. We cannot thank you enough for providing such high quality accommodation for a much needed break. Five stars from us. *****

  • "The place needs a shelf in the shower to put shower gel shampoo etc on."

We had to keep bending down and my partner has arthritis . Please also be aware that some people like my partner have epilepsy and there are no blinds on the velux windows upstairs which does let a lot of light in downstairs at night. More coat hangers would be helpful. Finally some kind of freezer would help as the one in the fridge is too small for ice cream etc .

Thank you for taking the time to leave your valuable feedback and thank you for your suggestions. We are unable to provide a larger freezer but we are going to provide some extra coat hangers and we have also purchased a shower shelf. We do hope you enjoyed your holiday and look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

Not good in the present conditions and we had slept for a week with that in the bed

Experience the majestic St Michael's Mount, a mystical island which protrudes from the glistening sea.

At high tide take the ferry across to the tiny harbour or enjoy the adventure by foot and walk the narrow cobbled causeway at low water.

Continue around the coast and discover bustling Penzance, en-route to Land's End, the drama and romance of the open-air Minack Theatre, cut from the granite cliff face and jutting precariously seawards is a must see location!

About the location

PORTHLEVEN

Helston 3 miles; Penzance 10 miles; Hayle 11 miles; St. Ives 17 miles; Falmouth 17.5 miles.

Porthleven is one of south west Cornwall’s hidden, coastal gems, located near Helston, famous for its annual Flora Dance Festival. Situated between Lizard Point and Land’s End, Porthleven retains the feel of a traditional Cornish fishing village, enjoying uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful Cornish coastline. The iconic clock tower sits on the harbour entrance and the pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants cluster around the historic picturesque inner harbour, where there is plenty of boating and marine activity. With a warren of streets lined with classic Cornish, granite cottages, an extensive beach manned with lifeguards, the chance for alfresco dining in one of a number of well reviewed restaurants, and crabbing off the harbour, there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, all year round. Porthleven is building a reputation for eating out with a popular food festival established in the spring. Out of season, Porthleven has one of the best surf breaks in the country where you can sit down and get lost for hours watching the energetic surfers riding the waves. There are some fabulous hidden coves along this stretch of coastline, including Praa Sands, Poldhu Cove, and Rinsey, a magical setting for the more energetic. You may have even seen pictures of Porthleven on television, being one of the best spots in the UK for storm watching, with the crashing winter waves often being used as the backdrop to weather forecasts. Walkers will enjoy the South West Coast Path, adventuring west past Rinsey Head with spectacular views, or south across Loe Bar to Penrose Estate with its National Trust cafe, and on to Gunwalloe Church Cove. Take a trip to the Isles of Scilly by boat or plane and marvel at the display of sub-tropical gardens at the stunning Tresco Abbey. The Eden Project near St. Austell offers an interesting day out. Porthleven is the ideal base for discovering the delights of west Cornwall and the Lizard Peninsula.
