  • "4shore is a gorgeous apartment which has a fantastic location."

The apartment has high quality fixtures and fittings and really thoughtful touches that means your stay is comfortable. We didn’t lack for anything. The decoration of the apartment was beautiful and reflected St Ives. We loved the balcony which gave a fantastic view of the sea and Porthminster beach. The balcony was larger than the other apartments and the outdoor sofa area was like an extra room. It was a short walk down to the beach and along the warren into St Ives. All the rooms make fantastic advantage of the sea view and it was lovely to see the boats coming in and out of St Ives harbour. The train is a few minutes from the apartment and we took that to Carbis Bay. Porthminister beach, the closest to the apartment, was our favourite beach. Parking opposite in the car park building was great. The car park space was one of the first through the door and as it was angled in the corner - there was plenty of space to get in and out of the car. It was the best space in there and although the listing mentioned that the hotel may on a rare occasion block the space - we didn’t experience this. To be honest, the short distance to St Ives and so much to explore meant that we didn’t use the car much. It is such a beautiful place that it is definitely one we would consider returning to. Thank you x

It was just heavenly to wake up every morning and fall asleep every night to the sound of the waves and that view of the sea. So close to the wonderful Porthminster Beach, great parking facility and just a short stroll into St Ives itself. We didn’t need the car at all, apart from a quick trip to the nearby Tesco for food supplies. The apartment was luxurious and very comfortable. We all had a very relaxing, lovely week. Thank you!

The flat is comfortable and gorgeous, the bedroom and the views over the bay are stunning. Lovely visit, and even though the weather wasn't the best we had an amazing time. Would highly recommend staying here, it's really good having parking as well (at a premium in St Ives), and sitting on the balcony is amazing.

  • "The Apartment 4shore in St Ives is great and perfect."

The apartment is very well equipped, quiet and spotlessly clean. The only recommendation is that a salad spinner is provided. It is spacious and the layout is logical making the apartment very comfortable and easy to use. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony to contemplate and listen to the sea especially in the evening. Access to the beach is down steps and a path next to the apartment. Once down it is a gentle 10 minute walk into St Ives along The Warren. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing week over Christmas. Visiting the Exhibitions at Tate St Ives, The Barbara Hepworth Museum and The Bernard Leach Pottery Museum were enlightening. We took fabulous drives on the dramatic coastal road from St Ives towards Lands End and Porthcurno with detours to The Tinners Arms at Zennor for lunch, Cape Cornwall, Pendeen Lighthouse and much more. Thank you.

A little small and on its way out from the lines we noticed, also I note other apartment had Netflix included as the sky Tv was quite limited. Otherwise we loved the apartment and location definitely booking next year.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your comments. Further we are happy to inform you that the owner of the property has now replaced the lounge TV through a new 65 inch Samsung smart television with a full Sky package. Fantastic location, just a short walk into the harbour/centre and steps away from Porthminster Beach. Fantastic terrace which would be great in good weather. The only issue which is not a complaint but just to advise the owners is that the shower screen in the main bathroom leaked so I had to turn the showerhead over to the wall. Would recommend 100%

  • "Our second time to 4Shore, we returned after last year knowing that the location and facilities were great for us."

The view is something else, wonderful! Upon arrival the room was being checked by a lady who advised towels were missing and she would leave some for us outside. (Saturday) the towels only arrived late Sunday evening luckily we had brought extras with us. Main space and beds are great, lovely new carpet noticed straight away. Bathrooms felt dirty with pink mould in places which is our only moan, a trip to Tesco for cleaning products (same as last year as it was the windows that needed re cleaning) it’s fine, but feel it’s a really expensive listing to have to re clean pink mould when a good deep clean in these areas would have sorted that out and charged extra for cleaning costs in the fees (I think when booking) Had some lovely sunny days and husband missed the sun loungers that were there last year, maybe update pics if this is not available any longer. Parking bollard much easier to use this year too and quickly goes up and down when accessing the space. The space is the best in the parking lot as some are really right next to posts and bollards but 4Shore is easily accessible. No issues with space being blocked. Had a great time and managed to try some local eat out places. Husband uses the gym next door daily which is a great added extra being able to use facilities. Wi-Fi great if needing to work while away. Lift was out of action Friday as we needed to load up the car, although ground floor. This apartment is accessed by stairs in the event of the lift being out of action to main road level. We have a baby in buggy / cases which was a difficult evening. Small issues out of the owners control mentioned. We love the apartment and don’t mind the odd bits but also reflect in the price of the listing just less than £3000 for a 7 night stay- shouldn’t involve a trip to Tesco for products to clean and no towels for 24 hours. Bedding and beds are hotel standard and comfort. Overall 4**** in our opinion with a location and view that is 5***** Returning next year to the Peninsula apartments outside of the school holidays. As a teacher for many years being stuck to school holidays (2021 £5000 for a week in the apartment, 2022 £3000 for a week we can have a week in June for £1200 in 2023) Prices always an issue during the school holidays for all families and teachers. We love St Ives and a change in career to experience much more affordable holidays here planned for next year.

We were sorry to learn of the problem with the supply of the towels and the cleanliness of the shower area and we can only apologise that this was not up to our normally expected standards. We have taken up these issues with the housekeeping team and they have assured us that this was an oversight which will be addressed. We are very pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay at 4Shore and that you are booking again for next year. Kindest Regards Property Owner Property Owner

The facilities are great, everything you need for a family holiday. The apartment is very well situated in St Ives, It is just out of the busy town. It is about a 4/5 minute walk downhill to Porthminster beach. The town is about a 10 min walk down the road and has a nice selection of shops and eateries. Highly recommend, the bedroom and the views over the bay are stunning. The apartment was very luxurious with everything thought of, and a lovely welcome pack. I have limited mobility, and it worked out really well for me with the car park and getting out for days out to St Michael's Mount and Land's End etc. The apartment is very easy to get in and out of, with a lift. Sitting on the balcony is absolute bliss - the terrace gets the sun from sunrise through to around 3pm at this time of year. All the arrangements were very smooth and very professional. Highly recommended. Very excited to be able to return next year!

  • "We have had a fab stay in 4shore."

There is a wow factor as soon as you walk through the door and we loved the amazing views from the windows. The apartment is extremely comfortable, cosy and warm and beautifully furnished. The whole place was spotlessly clean and well equipped. 4shore is a great base for exploring St Ives and the surrounding area. Buses and the train enabled us to walk further afield. The walk from Zennor to St Ives was a highlight . Other highlights were the stunning beaches , bracing walks over the headland, The Barbara Hepworth museum , Porthminster Beach Cafe for dinner and hot chocolate and cake at Porthmeor beach cafe . The only negative points are the 9.00 check out time which is early considering having to stripe and bag bedding etc . After such a relaxing time it's a shame to have to rush around at the last minute. Recycling also needs to be addressed as there is none! Overall we had a memorable holiday In 4shore and hope to return x

Dear Mrs Taylor, Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback and we are delighted to hear you had what sounds like a wonderful stay, with lots of exploring. Our check in and check out times are reviewed regularly and we listen to our guest feedback and take on board the points that are raised. In regard to the recycling, unfortunately in St Ives, the recycling facilities are extremely limited and in respects to 4Shore, because it is located within a development, it is the responsibility of the development management to put in private recycling. Please be assured, we do pass on feedback to the development management companies and we hope this will be actioned in the future. In the meantime, when asked by guests we advise that our nearest recycling centre is now located in St Erth, behind the railway station. We look forward to inviting you back in the near future. • "Despite sendind an email on 28th October 2021, we still have had no formal acknowledgement from Customer Relations - not even an apology or formal acknowledgement of this issue."

The property itself is superb and has everything that you need for an enjoyable stay (hence the excellent score above) However, our overall experience was much less so and has been let down by the lack of an adequate response and poor customer relations (apart from the help of the onsite representative) from Carbis Bay Holidays. Whilst we never had previous cause to complain and after many enjoyable years spent holidaying with Carbis Bay Holidays (and our second consecutive year at 4Shore) , we remain disapponted that when an issue occured, the response from Carbis Bay Holidays (or any form of formal acknowledgement) has been sadly lacking. A copy of the email sent is as per the below To whom it may concern Booking Reference: 20516-CBH We stayed at one of your apartments from 16 - 23 October 21, it was number 4 Peninsula in St Ives (our booking details are as above ). On our arrival we were unable to open the door to the apartment (suspecting it had been double locked) and so called the out of hours service. A representative came to the apartment and confirmed that the door could not be opened . We waited with our bags and shopping outside the apartment for approximately 2 hours which was tiring after a long day of travelling with a 6 year old. Your representative was really helpful and eventually tracked the additional key for the mortice lock from the cleaner and was then finally able to open the apartment. What made it worse was , we had to make alternative birthday dinner arrangements as a direct result of our late access to the apartment. What surprised us the most was that spare keys were not held locally and that housekeeping had access to keys for the mortice lock that was not part of the guest keyset. If keys could not have been located, a locksmith would have to have been called causing a further significant delay to our holiday We love staying at the Carbis Bay Holiday apartments and have done so for many years. We are therefore quite surprised to have not had any formal acknowledgement of this situation by management and possibly an offer or some sort of gesture of goodwill under the circumstances. We look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Rachel & Steve

Dear Mr Wheat, Thank you very much for your valued feedback, we are so sorry that the apartment door was double locked when you arrived especially after such a long journey down. We understand that the cleaner was new to this property and wanted to make sure the property was left completely secure but normally the door is not double locked. After you reported the issue to us, one of our colleagues attended out of hours and tracked down the key which was on the housekeeper’s set to unlock the apartment door. We are very sorry you had to wait while this key was tracked down as this particular key was on the housekeeping set, but we have removed this key from the housekeeping set so the doors cannot be double locked and the same issue occur again. We are pleased that you found our representative helpful and we managed to get on the issue of the double locked door quickly for you. After we received your follow up email on the 28th October, we can confirm we emailed you on the 1st November to advise that we had received your email request for a goodwill gesture. Thank you for accepting our offer of the goodwill gesture from Carbis Bay Holidays and we hope that you had a very enjoyable stay at 4Shore which is a fantastic apartment. The fridge shelves were also faulty, and 1 broke off causing damage to some of our items. The demaged shelf was removed by a member of staff but not replaced during our stay. There was a problem with the water during our stay - it was running brown for 48 hours. I called out of hours and left a message with my details but no one came back to me. I called the next day and spoke to someone who again after taking my details, didnt come back to me. The problem was resolved - it was an issue affecting more than just our property - but there was no reason for me to be ignored, considering the seriousness of having dirty water coming out of the taps for so long.

  • "After reading a couple of recent reviews before arriving in August 2021 we were slightly disappointed with mentions of a decline in standards."

However when we arrived, those concerns were no more. A gorgeous apartment on the sea front with beautiful views, (you can see the beach and sea unlike the worry about overgrown trees) waking up to the sound of the ocean is one of the best bits of this holiday. The information provided before hand was spot on. The bollard was not broken and a great parking spot provided. The apartment is just over the road from the parking. Key was in the safe at the allotted time and we were welcomed with fantastic facilities. Firstly I don’t think it’s fair to comment on value for money. This year we paid over £4000 for a week self catering, post pandemic and as a small business owner ourselves, understand that holiday let’s just like out selves we’re unable to trade for over 12 months. Summer holidays / high demand and trying to recoup money not earned for two seasons- we chose to pay a higher price. Is it worth it? To us it was! After not being on holiday since summer 2019 and working last summer until now to try and rebuild our own business it was worth that and more. On paper it’s not 5* luxury, but does have great facilities and having two small children- perfect. We felt as if we were on holiday 100% of the time even when we needed to be back in the apartment for the children. Weather - what a scorcher it was. St Ives - we have booked for next year the same dates and prices have come down we enjoyed it that much and location is perfect! Bleaches rival those in the Caribbean- and we have decided to stick to UK breaks for the next few years after seeing the potential and ease with little ones. We were proactive and booked a home delivery slot a few weeks in advance so no messing about carrying shopping, didn’t manage to eat out because St Ives was probably the most busy it’s been in history! We were able to cook, enjoy on the balcony and grab a fish and chips on the pier. There was a mention about the cleaning standards not being great, it was fine. Beds made up nicely, lots of towels and the balcony windows did need a good clean. Grabbed a bucket of soapy water and a sqeegie and had a great view all week. We were travelling with two small children so a glass cleaner was a must and I did need to clean the windows (due to children anyway on a daily basis) it was quickly sorted but agree the price paid - it should have been spotless. I wouldn’t dwell on that it’s a great place. Sad to leave and the apartment has that much- I would pack less next year. Washing machine , beach accessories picnic bits were all there. We hardly needed anything. It would be nice to have a selection of cleaning products to keep on top of things over the stay but again Tesco is just up the road. Balcony area is lovely, lift access to apartment and beach just below. St Ives isn’t really designed for peaks, so baby carry if you can. It was also so busy, it was impossible to enjoy the eating out scene or even manage to get a takeaway most nights as this needs to be pre booked. Beach is quiet early and gets busy 11 onwards but everyone on holiday is lovely! People are great and after worrying it wasn’t going to be that great we didn’t want to leave. 10/10 for the experience from the Barlow’s - summer 2021 travelling with a 3 year old and 18 month old. Thank you

  • "Two adults and two children."

August 2021. We’ve been visiting 4shore and other apartments Within the Carbis Bay holidays portfolio for many years. We’ve stayed at 4shore for the last 5 years in a row. Unfortunately, this will be our last stay. Let’s start with the positives. The apartment location is excellent. With the parking facilities I would go as far to say it’s one of the best locations for St Ives. The view is fantastic apart from the now tall trees directly in front of the apartment blocking what would otherwise be the perfect view of the beach and st Ives harbour itself. The negatives unfortunately out way the positives. 1. Why have CBH and Skyes now increased this apartment by over 62% for the same week next year compared to this year? They are now asking for just over £4300 for one weeks stay. Why? For this money you would expect to be staying in a 5 star luxury apartment. This apartment falls short of those standards. 2. The standards of cleaning really have dropped over the last two maybe three years. The patio windows were disgraceful this time and someone had clearly written “clean me” onto them which hadn’t been removed. Cobwebs over the patio doors. All surfaces inside had a sticky residue on them, probably from the cleaning solution used. This solution actually melted (JJ can’t think of a better word to use) the rubber surface of my binoculars that were left on the table. So I’ve no idea what is being used but it’s not good. BTW. These binoculars come with us every year and we’ve never had this problem before. The decking area hadn’t been cleaned at all. The reclining chair on the decking was filthy with rust all over it, along with the candle lamp holders. It looks very run down for such a high cost. 3. The bin facilities for disposing of the rubbish are less than ideal. The bins are always overflowing, smelly and to top it all there is zero recycling taking place within the peninsula apartments. That’s awful and needs to be rectified, quickly. 3. CBH now request extra time for cleaning due to Covid 19. They don’t allow you access to the apartment until 5pm on the first day, but insist you leave by 9am on the last day. This is just wrong, you are effectively losing at least one day of your weeks holiday and considering they want to charge you £4300 for this holiday next year (now already dropped to £3817 because no one is booking it), I just feel this is wrong. 3. I’m not convinced that telling your paying customers they must strip their own bedding, pillow cases etc and put them into bags provided, along with towels etc is fair considering you are now asking them to vacate the apartment earlier than previous because of Covid 19. Surely, this is a task housekeeping should be performing not your customers? It’s such a shame that I’m having to write these words. We’ve always enjoyed and looked forward to our annual trip to 4shore. Maybe it’s time to look elsewhere.

Dear Mrs Fox Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with Feedback following your recent stay at 4Shore again this year. I agree that the apartment is in an excellent position and with the added luxury in St Ives of having an onsite allocated parking space. 1.With regards to the increase in pricing, this has been set due to the current demand for holidays and properties in St Ives and Carbis Bay for 2022 but I can confirm rest assured the rates are constantly being monitored and reviewed. 2. I am very sorry to hear the cleanliness at the property had fallen short of our usual high standard, this is not acceptable and I have forwarded your comments on to our Property Management department for their attention. We will certainly investigate the cleaning product used. 3. The bin store at Peninsular is managed by a separate Management Company at the apartments and when we were made aware of the unacceptable state this was in, we have addressed the issue with them and I believe that the problems you experienced have now been resolved. 4. The current check-in and check-out times have been in place from July 2020, when our properties reopened following the first Lockdown period, this is to allow our Housekeeping teams sufficient time to ensure the additional tasks they need to undertake due to the Covid-19 pandemic are completed. We are monitoring this and hope to be able to amend it soon. 5. Our current request to our guests to bag up their dirty bedding and towels in the disposable bag provided on departure is not something we would normally request but again, this is due to Covid-19 and to facilitate our Housekeeping team members the safety of not having to come into contact with what could potentially be contaminated linen. We also hope to be able to remove this requirement soon. I am pleased to see you have now booked to stay in 4Shore again next year and please be assured the points you have raised will be addressed and attended to. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "Our 7th visit to Peninsula apartments & 4th staying @ 4shore, just feel standards have slipped this year & no longer 5* Bollard to car park space was broken & permanently down."

After a long journey to Cornwall on arrival @ 5.15 a couple were unloading for the Hotel in the assigned parking space. Main bedroom duvet cover had a ‘washed in’ stain on it. 2nd bedroom had half Oreo biscuit & button on the floor between the beds + 3 socks and pair of pants in the chest of drawers. Freezer also had food left in it . Lounge, bulb was missing in one table lamp (no spares) + no clothes airer …. both were rectified on the Wednesday. There was a fault on the switch to main lights which we reported. Personal touches missing from our previous visits e.g. Meet & greet by Hayley, with her can do attitude & her direct phone number. Cream tea, which was always appreciated on arrival. While understanding meet & greet has been suspended, we were able to speak to the Hayley outside when departing who was delivering new bedding. Bin area - not pleasant & it’s now time there were recycling facilities available. Really can’t see any evidence of extra cleaning to warrant check in/out times, Feel 9.00 checkout is early considering having to strip & bag bedding etc. Maybe the onus should be put on the company by employing extra staff & not the paying guests. Unfortunately, this looks to be our last visit to Peninsula, not due to the above comments as we had an enjoyable holiday & love the apartment, we’re just not prepared to pay the 50% increase in price for the same week next year.

Dear Ann, Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. We would like to apologise for the issue you encountered with the bollard and with the hotel guests. Unfortunately, the guests arriving is out of our control, although we do understand the frustration and we sincerely hope the hotel dealt with the guests as quick as possible. In regard to the linen and cleanliness, this is not the standard we have and this would have been replaced if you had wished. The maintenance issues you have recognized, we will pass to our property team to take a look at during the change over. We really appreciate these being brought to our attention as our housekeepers can pick up on various bits when they are in the properties, but can't always spot everything. Due to the COVID_19 pandemic, we have had to make a series of changes to keep our guests and team safe; two of these changes have been to put the Meet & Greets on hold for now for our housekeepers safety, the second is the supply of a voucher for baked goods rather that the 'Cream Tea' which would obviously be handled by a series of people before getting to the guest and property. The recycling inquiry is an ongoing subject with the development company, so we thank you for your feedback and will pass this on to them, and it is the development management that would need to implement the recycling facilities, not us at Carbis Bay Holidays or the owner regrettably. Here at Carbis Bay Holidays, we are constantly monitoring the prices and we work very closely with our owners to reach the perfect balance every year. So once again, we invite any feedback that can bring us all the correct price. We sincerely hope you enjoyed your visit to Cornwall. Kind Regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Property Owner

Bathrooms are well finished with powerful showers. The best things about this apartment are the luxurious master bedroom and the wrap around balcony. The bedroom is large light and airy with dual aspect doors which open onto the fabulous balcony. This has seating for lounging in the sun and eating alfresco. We stayed for our honeymoon and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Marvellous views and a lovely place that we would definitely return to! Thankyou."

! The Apartment is fantastic, clean & spacious. It is so well situated and convenient we love it here!! (Oh, did I already mention that!! ?) The views are stunning, we spent hours on the balcony/terrace, just watching the sea. The beach is beautiful and was close enough to reach within 3 or 4 mins walk, we love that…The town has lots of shops now, a good selection for a nice browse. The Restaurants, well there are lots! We enjoyed and The Hub, for a family, they were great…Fish & Chip shops, well we always go back to Becks in Carbis Bay as we rate these number one. We tried the award winner in the Harbour Front, and it wasn’t bad. We enjoyed the ‘Rib ride’ this time...Great fun, very bouncy! It is something we will be doing again, according to my 2 daughters! Thank you for another fabulous holiday! See you next year – we love it here ? “ Jude, Royston, Libby & Evie Fox from Bunbury, Cheshire.
