  • "Absolutely loved staying here ."

. much better than expected after reading recent reviews, a real home from home. Extremely modern and comfortable. All bedding, towels and kitchen equipment high end. Enjoyed the short walk down to St Ives and Porthminster beach and didn’t mind the walk back up the hill. Really looking forward to returning.

  • "Although this is a really lovely property with a great location and stunning views."

There are a few things letting it down.. As advised by multiple people in previous reviews- this place needs coat hooks or a coat stand and shoe tray in the hallway. Hanging your wet coats in the lounge or a wardrobe shouldn’t be the only option. Neither of the bathroom extractor fans worked. The underfloor heating didn’t work in the main bedroom or lounge (it’s VERY hot in the bathrooms though) There was a strange smell in the lounge/kitchen area, for the whole week. We had a small window open in the lounge for the whole stay and had to buy a scented candle also. I checked cupboards, the washing machine, oven and dishwasher - I also pulled the couch out but couldn’t locate what caused the smell? The couch due to being a light colour and I guess also being end of season needs a hyper clean, the arms are seats are showing signs of dirt. Although, yes this is a self catering apartment, I don’t think it unreasonable to expect a scouring. sponge/cloth in the kitchen sink and a pate bin bag?

Thank you for your feedback, we will be sure to pass your comments onto the owner for their consideration. We are very sorry to hear neither of the extractor fans worked during your stay we will be sure to rectify this, as well as investigate the smell. We are sorry to hear that no sponge/cloth was left this is part of the essentials pack so we will be sure to raise this with the housekeeper. Despite the issues you encountered during your stay we do hope you had a wonderful holiday, and we hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. • "A lovely stay."

Great view of the sea from our balcony and the living area. It is an ideal location for using beautiful St Ives as a base, a walk up a steep hill but it wasn’t a problem for us. Great to have a parking space at the apartment too, and nice and peaceful being slightly out of town (about 10 mins walk, and also from the train station if you want to explore without taking the car). Lovely spacious apartment, kitchen fully equipped with everything you need. The en suite is on the small side but does the job……and the shower is lovely and powerful! We had a problem getting the tumble drier to work, and the radiator in the bathroom didn’t work, so some maintenance checks before guests arrive would be beneficial. To make it even better I’d suggest some coat hooks in the hallway for coats, and also perhaps a shoe rack for sandy shoes and trainers rather than leave them cluttering up the hallway floor. I’d recommend this property if you’re looking for a great stay in St Ives.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback its much appreciated, we are pleased to hear you had a lovely stay, thank you for bringing the maintenance issues to our attention we will be sure to rectify these. We will be sure to pass on you suggestions to the owners for their consideration. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Apartment was very well decorated, maintained and equipped with everything we could possibly need. Slightly out of town meant a bit quieter at night, but walking back up the hill several times a day made our legs ache! Still good exercise… Outside windows could maybe be cleaned more regularly….seagulls/crows have left their marks.

Thank you for you excellent and informative Feedback following your recent holiday at Gwel an Mor and we are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We are very sorry to hear of the marks on the windows, I can confirm Gwel an Mor does have a regular window cleaning contract but unfortunately in the current nesting season, windows are being messed again shortly after cleaning. Views are stunning from the balcony. Lovely, clean, comfortable and bright, little welcome pack was nice of milk, chocolate and local apple juice. Only 10 minutes walk into St Ives centre and Porthminster Beach. Downhill fine but anyone with mobility issues might struggle coming back as all uphill, but fine for us. Will definitely be returning next year to this beautiful apartment.

  • "The apartment itself is lovely, the fittings in the kitchen and bathrooms good quality."

The bedding is lovely and soft too however I found the bed to be too hard for me, however appreciate some people would be ok with it. The under floor heating is just lovely. Cleanliness isn’t as it should be, the apartment needs a deep clean. A previous customer has written ‘clean me’ on a lamp shade. The window sills and areas to the edges of the floor all need cleaning, as do the windows, inside and out: they were covered in gull poo which I cleaned as it was ruining the amazing view (appreciate this is something that happens a lot due to the nature of the source). The kitchen tap was dripping quite badly and Sykes were very good at getting this fixed. Sykes were very responsive with any issues when contacted. Checkout time is ridiculously early. I noted that another customer had commented on this in their review and was advised it was being reviewed however when I questioned it before going I was told it wasn’t going to change. With a check in of 4 and check out of 9 it does reduce the amount of time you get to enjoy the place. Also begs the question what is done between 9 and 4. Overall I loved the apartment, the windows and views and the location, it’s a nice walk to town and back.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are so sorry to hear that some areas were not up to our usual standard for you, all of your feedback has been taken on board and reported to the necessary departments to ensure these things do not occur again. In regards to the windows, the management company of the building arrange for a window cleaner to attend very regularly but unfortunately, as you said yourself, it happens an awful lot, especially with the location it is in. We are so glad that our local team at Carbis Bay Holidays were able to assist when contacted! We are sorry that you had been told that our arrival and departure times weren’t going to change, we are not sure where this would have come from. We are changing our check out time, which is due to come into play at the end of April. Again, thank you and we hope to welcome you back in the near future. • "This was our second stay here and once again we really enjoyed it."

The TV's in the bedrooms didn't appear to work but as we didn't need them it didn't matter to us. We replaced the batteries in one of the living room remotes as it stopped working and we couldn't turn TV on without it, so some other batteries may need replacing. As the weather wasn't always great it would have been nice to be able to watch films during the day but we couldn't as you needed a code, so could only watch after 9pm, unless you wanted to watch children's films but we do understand why this was. But none of this was really important and we would definitely like to return. The apartment is in an ideal location and has amazing views. The furnishings are very comfortable and you have everything you need. Thanks for letting us stay.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback, we are thrilled to hear that you had such a lovely stay. We are sorry to hear that you had trouble with the batteries in the remotes, our housekeeper is going to replace these when next there. Unfortunately due to the TV having Sky this does mean that you cannot watch any 12+ films/programmes before a certain time of night. The reason that we do not give the code out to allow people to watch everything is because this would mean all guests would have access to the owners private account where things can be purchased. We hope you understand this, thank you again for your feedback and look forward to seeing you in the near future. Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

For example we moved the toaster and the amount of crumbs that were then all over the surface revealed that this had not been cleaned for a long time! A deep clean is needed generally. From booking to arrival at the apartment everything ran smoothly. Communication was good, emails and texts were sent to let us know full address of where we were staying and name and phone number of our housekeeper. Kim our housekeeper also made contact to let us know about getting into the apartment and where to park. When we walked into the apartment it was amazing. From booking to door it's been excellent. Upon arrival our host Jess was very welcoming, showed us around the apartment and the beautiful treats that were left for us (champagne chocolates and a cream tea). WOW !!! What an amazing apartment with stunning views, I've been a st Ives regular for the past 32 years. This was by far the most prestigious of accommodation to date. It was clean very warm and felt like home for our 7 days. I would go back, the only thing missing was a can opener. Luxurious to say the least. . . . .
