  • "Unfortunately during the week there was significant rain water ingress from the flats above us leading to loss of power to bathroom and staining to ceilings."

The Sykes management sent a representative to confirm and a contractor to make temporary repairs. Shame really, we came home a day early

Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry to hear of the issue you experienced during your stay, we hope that despite this you had a great holiday, and we hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "The apartment is wonderful, clean and bright; there is a great view from the living room, the location is great, the kitchen well equipped, but the bathroom is a disaster: smells terrible, hot water is not working properly, the water drain needs to be maintained."

The bathroom needs to be fixed.

  • "The apartment has wonderful views and is generously sized for St Ives."

Unfortunately there was a leak in the bedroom from the apartment above when we stayed and based on the smell of damp and stains on the carpet prior to the leak we saw I don’t think this was the first time. When the leak happened someone from carbis bay holidays (CBH) did come out quickly with towels and 2 dehumidifiers and an extra bucket to collect the (yellow) water coming through the light fitting. We were told a plumber would be out that day and in the interim the people staying upstairs were asked not to use their bathroom directly above us. We then went out for the day which CBH said was fine because they have keys and would phone with an update. At about 5PM CBH phoned to say the plumber had not been able visit and would tomorrow. Upon our return later that evening we had to familiarise ourselves with the fuse box as we had no power… The apartment did have good instructions for this. The following morning a plumber did arrive and after a brief chat about the electricity going the previous day, he confirmed he had a key to let himself in etc if we went out and he would pass on to CBH about the electric and get them to provide an update to us. Off we went. When we returned that evening the door to our apartment was open… At this point I felt very annoyed. All of our possessions were in the living area, having felt compelled to move them to avoid the leak splashing on to them (the water was splashing all over the wardrobe) so somehow that made our stuff feel more vulnerable. Fortunately nothing was taken… There was no further update from CBH. We purchased some febreeze to try and reduce the smell. I actively tried to not let this dominate our holiday and fully understand leaks happen and are often unavoidable. However, on reflection of the week I would have expected at least 1 further update from CBH about how the leak had been resolved and what caused the water to be yellow, an apology it happened, and an attempt or offer by them to clean the area. If this had not happened I genuinely think the apartment is very nice and the only improvements I would have suggested are looking at the water pressure (which is very low) and replacing the carpet in the bedroom. It is overall a very nice, well equipped apartment.

  • "Had a wonderful time at the Hepworth apartment and St Ives."

Property had everything we needed and was ideally placed to get to the town provided you didn't mind a fairly steep climb. Very comfortable indeed. Only issue was a problem with the shower drain which was dealt with within a couple of hours from the time of reporting it. Will definitely be returning next year.

  • "The property itself was lovely, the location was good but finding the property was a nightmare, the postcode took us to the car park at the top of the road, the property itself only had one sign on the outside saying cherished cottages, no mention of Sykes cottages let alone Hepworth apartments."

We walked around for over an hour asking local residents if they could help. If it wasn’t for a cleaner overhearing our struggles we don’t know what we would of done. I rang the Sykes helpline twice to just be given directions into st Ives itself. This was the only negative of our stay.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback and comments following you stay at Hepworth Apartment. Its great to hear you liked the property and enjoyed you stay. We are sorry that you experienced difficulties finding the property and thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will check if we need to amend the arrival information to ensure future guests staying at Hepworth Apartment do not experience any similar difficulties. • "We had a fab week and would probably come again one day."

Some constructive minor points to help improve the experience: Pull up blind in bay window broken. Curtains need adjustment to close without yanking. Bulb missing from bedside lamp. The instruction book needs sorting out, instructions on refuse/recycling are poor. The wifi went off several times for several hours, we eventually guessed it was in the first floor flat and the occupants kindly performed a reset. It would have helped to know that you could reverse down to the flat for loading/unloading. Sykes email font in pale grey was a poor choice when it came to printing. This is all trivial stuff though, we had a great time!

  • "We loved the apartment apart from two minor details, the waste basket in the bedroom had a lot of hair in it."

...wasn’t mine! Also, there were cobwebs behind the dressing table in the bedroom. Otherwise, it was lovely. The car parking should be reviewed........ it is very steep to the property. And should be better. Why can’t the booking include a permit for a week in the Barnoon car park? The parking space was very narrow and we only just fitted in. Although it was only a seven minute walk, it was all uphill, and not what we thought.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you loved the apartment, apart from the two minor details, our apologies, we have reported this to the housekeeper. The owners are pleased to be able to offer parking to their guests, as parking in St Ives is extremely sought after, with most car parks full (including permit spaces) Kindest Regards The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. • "Property was clean, but on a negative looked a bit tired."

The transparent blind in the bedroom meant waking up at 4am, a simple remedy would be to install a blackout blind. There was also no Wi-Fi although advertised as having it. I think these simple small changes would enhance the customer experience enormously. On the positive the views were amazing!

Thank you for your feedback. We have taken your comments on board and reported to the necessary departments. In regards to the Wifi, the property has wifi available which has always been at Hepworth Apartment, the router can be located in the main bedroom. If you have any queries like this during your stay please contact the local office on 01736 630015 option 2, and one of the local team will be able to assist you straight away. The property was lovely had everything we wanted and had nice little touches with milk, apple juice left for us. The bathroom had nice touches also. Great location with stunning views. Its very obvious the property has been done to a high standard, but lots of little things haven’t been finished off.
