  • "I wish I'd read the rest of the feedback before booking."

As soon as we entered the property we had issues with the smell, which evidently someone had attempted to mask by filling the property with plug in air fresheners. My daughter was wheezing within an hour and I contacted Carbis Bay Holidays immediately (hoping to relocate somewhere else - we had stayed in another of these apartments with some friends in January and not had any issues with the smell). Unfortunately we did not hear back from anyone until the following day, and the response was someone from the property team came and sprayed deodorizing air freshener (which really didn't help). We also were not left the fobs for access to the spa, and were charged by the hotel on 3 separate occasions when we accessed it (even though we said where we were staying). We ended up cutting our holiday short as we did not use the downstairs bedroom and my children were all sharing the upstairs room, with one having to sleep on the sofa. I have complained to Carbis Bay Holidays but aside from getting a complaint reference number I have yet to receive a response from them.

Hi , sorry you had issues with any smell , this has been attended to by plumbers investigating the drains to ensure this is sorted as a matter of urgency , I’ve been there regularly but never smelt it ? Also the fobs to access the spa are in the keysafe ( car park ) sometimes they are left in the property if the last guests have used them , I will be in touch with Carbis Bay holidays to see if they can always be left in the hallway . I will also get them to respond to you , hope you enjoyed the rest of your 3 night stay ! Thank you Property Owner

  • "We came last Nov and loved it but there were a few issues that have still not been fixed smell in bathroom spotlights not working."

Also I know a small thing but since changed letting agents with Carbis we got a lovely welcome pack with Sykes nothing!

Hi Wendy Thanks for your review , and glad you rebooked , we are pleased to inform you we have had the smell sorted in the one bathroom and it will require a small amount of water to be left in the plug in shower then it’s ok , Carbis bay holidays and sykes are the same company , so I’ll have to check on their protocol with welcome packs to see if they have changed ? • "On arrival we noticed that the upstairs bathroom and downstairs shower room both have very bad smells."

This was also pointed out in the visitors book by previous guests. We tried to clean but bathroom got worse and we were not able to use it. The curtains in the bedroom need rehanging and look a mess. One hand towel had a hole in it. And instead of tea towels we had one glass towel that also had a hole in it. We don’t think this is acceptable from a property of 5 stars.

Hi , sorry you had issues with smells , the extractor fans have been changed , the bathrooms were clean but the engineer has sorted this I am sorry one hand towel had a hole in it this must have been an oversight on the housekeeping dept , and usually there are 3-4 tea towels , left per stay , thanks for bringing this to our attention Property Owner

Hi , thanks so much for your review , glad you enjoyed the superb views There is sufficient parking for one car , there are not many properties in central st Ives that would accommodate 3 cars , but there’s plenty of parking at the station a few hundred yards away Property Owner

  • "Unfortunately we had issues with the hot water which meant we were several days without being able to bath or shower."

Particularly frustrating when arriving after a 7 hour journey. We also then nearly missed a dinner reservation for my birthday whilst waiting for an engineer to attend. It took half the week for the issue to be fixed. The apartment was clean although the loo in the first bedroom really needs replacing. The decking area and patio doors looked like they had not been cleaned in some time. Overall the stay was OK but the apartment looks very high end in the photos and does not live up to this expectation so I think that overall we were disappointed especially with the water issue. The engineer believed we were the first to stay in a few months so I would recommend a more thorough clean and check in this case in future.

Thank you very much for your feedback, we are so sorry that you experienced issues with the hot water during your stay. Looking through our records, our Property Management team did respond on the day you reported the issue, the 18th March, and contacted three engineers to endeavour to get a trade to you as soon as possible. The engineer attended at 5:30pm on the 18th March and collected keys from the key safe at the property. We understand that you saw the engineer as on his visit, the engineer did not find any issues and we agreed to contact you on Monday to check if you had experienced any further problems. Following our call on Monday 21st March, you explained that the water had been intermittent at which point we spoke to the engineer and ask him to re-attend to assess the situation. The engineer collected keys from our office on the 21st March and fitted a new part to the boiler which has resolved the issue. We will visit the apartment to inspect the toilet in the first bedroom and well as the decking area and patio doors. Unfortunately, due to the very bad weather we have had recently, this may have made cleaning the items trickier than usual. We can confirm that there have been bookings each week since the 10th February and the housekeeper would visit the property on each arrival and departure; therefore we will also schedule in cleaning checks to ensure the standard is kept to the high expectations that our guests expect. We look forward to welcoming you to the area in the near future, Kind Regards The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "Great location."

Parking an issue - space has a massive pillar that you can’t park round if car any bigger than a mini! The showers tended to run cold unless the boiler was reset which was a pain. Amazing views but the apartment is looking tired.

Thank you for your feedback. The parking measurements can be found on our website, to make guests aware of the spaces size prior to booking. The owners of the property have confirmed that they are able to park their Range Rover in the parking space. Regarding the boiler, anything like this during your stay, please contact the local team and someone will be able to assist straight away. Thank you again for your comments and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner
