    2. Top floor bedroom - Heated towel rail not working, shower fitment loose, 1 roller blind broken. 3. Stains on stairs and rug in lounge. Would still return though as we love St Ives and loved Porthminster Beach and parking space very good.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your week. We are sorry to hear of the issues you experienced during your stay, we will be sure to look into the maintenance points mentioned thank you for bringing these to our attention. • "On arrival we found the apartment not very clean & certainly not up up to the usual standard of a Sykes accommodation."

It was quickly resolved when we contacted the cleaner and someone returned and spent an hour & half doing certain areas we had mentioned but this did stop us unpacking after a long car journey from South yorkshire. My 12 year old son is disabled & has learning difficulties so this was extra stressful. As for the apartment itself very nice modern with good kitchen equipment. Great sea views. We were very lucky with the weather it was fantastic. Not so good was the beds if you are a tall chap like myself simply not big enough & uncomfortable. Also need some sort of black out curtain/blind in 2 of the bedrooms. Be aware of the road noise from the main route into St Ives itself...ear plugs came in handy if you want a lie in or afternoon siesta.

  • "We found the apartment to be well-equipped and clean."

The location is wonderful. We had a great holiday, but wouldn’t return to this accommodation. We found the layout though to be quite antisocial and a bit strange - the upstairs lounge meant there was no comfortable seating downstairs, which meant we spent less time together as a party than would be normal for us. Also, it seemed strange that the twin room benefitted from en-suite and balcony and the double had neither. We also found the beds to be quite uncomfortable.

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad to hear you found the apartment well equipped and clean. As noted on the website The Penthouse is a duplex apartment with the master ensuite bedroom and the living area on the upper floor enabling guests to enjoy the views of St.Ives bay and the second and third bedroom are on the lower floor. We are glad to hear you had a great holiday. We do hope to welcome you back to Carbis Bay Holidays again in the future. Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "This is quite lengthy but issues require resolving."

First impressions of the penthouse apartment was fine. We did find a few lights out on the Saturday evening. Tried to watch the sky channels, but came to the conclusion that the sky remote was not working. Had a shower in the morning found the shower hose was leaking badly and needed replacing. Made breakfast in the morning and found two of the frying pans were in a very poor condition. Contacted C.Bay on the contact number on the Tuesday due to B. Hols. Spoke to Kate I think. She said someone would come out to check out the issues. Someone did call and replaced a few bulbs. They left a note for us saying taken pans, and the sky remote saying it was faulty. Cameron rang us to say a plumber would be calling to replace shower hose 3pm ish following day and to leave key in safe key box. Plumber didn’t turn up and no new pans and no sky remote by the end of the holiday and no further contact for update. We have holidayed many times with CBay hols as our record of visits shows. We left very disappointed on this occasion. Look forward to your feedback unless we don’t hear from you again.

  • "The property was in good clean order, and benefits from one of the best parking spaces available."

The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils, there was the right amount of crockery and cutlery, and apart from a few lights being out, it was hard to fault anything. The property is very close to the train station, and a reasonable walking distance to town, and the views from the top floor were fantastic. Only minor niggle was the sky box (situated downstairs and feeding the upstairs television) resulted in a poor viewing experience, but not really a problem because we spent most of our time out of the apartment anyway.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us feedback and comments following your stay at The Penthouse. We are very pleased you have found the property clean and well equipped. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Property Owner

  • "Disappointed that the balcony and furniture was covered in seagull droppings."

This is to be expected at the seaside but could have been cleaned up prior to our arrival. I spent 20 minutes washing and brushing the balcony so it could be used. Everything in the flat was good quality and looked to be relatively new however the beds were very uncomfortable. My biggest criticism is that in the listing there is no mention how steep and long the walk back from St Ives is. As a pensioner with arthritic knees I would not have taken this apartment. This alone had a huge negative bearing on our enjoyment of the week.

Dear Mr Harvey, thank you for your valued Feedback following your recent stay at The Penthouse and we are sorry to hear you were not happy with all aspects of your stay, we have passed these on to the relevant persons for their attention. • "The location was good."

The penthouse itself was ok. A couple of thing could be improved e.g. plug in main bath did not fit and we had to use a tea towel to plug the bath (we have a toddler that bathes rather than showers), the sky package was bit misleading and we couldn't access lots of programmes. Shame we couldn't access our own Netflix account. We also had to replace the batteries in some of the remote controls ourselves. It felt a bit mean that we had to provide our own tea towels (although I already knew that from the description) and my pet-hate is when insufficient dishwasher tabs and washing up liquid are provided for the week. 2 dishwasher tabs are not enough for the week and I don't wish to buy a pack of 30! No problems with the lift for us and the parking was fine for our big car.

Dear Mrs Doyle, Thank you very much for your feedback as it is very important to us! We are sorry to hear that some things were not quite as you expected them to be. We can assure that we will have a close look into the points you have raised and make amendments if necessary so problems can be rectified going forward. • "Constructive feedback (major): 1."

The fridge & some of the crockery was not clean and we complained at the time. It seems odd that you allow 8 hours between guests for changeover but then fail to clean the kitchen area properly. Very disappointing. 2. Lack of a working lift, which luckily was not a problem this time however if we have brought my mum-in-law on this holiday that would have been a major problem as the stairs present an issue for disability access. The fact that the lift broke down in May and we were not advised was also disappointing as I would have thought that this sort of issue would need to be highlighted to customers. Note the property is on a the 2nd (top) level. 3. The sink in the bathroom adjacent the washing machine cupboard does not drain properly due to sticky plug and needs attention. 4. The TV in the main large bedroom (top floor) got a weak signal message & would not work so we ended up borrowing the TV from the other bedroom so that my parents had a working TV. Minor feedback; Sofa was a bit low/sunken so was not very comfortable. Disappointing that Kingsize beds not used a there is sufficient space to do so in both larger bedrooms. The time between handovers seems excessive - we are going to another booking later in August and we are allowed to leave at 1000 hrs and gain entry by 1500 hrs so not sure why CBH need an extra 3 hours!!!

Dear Jon, Thank you very much for your constructive feedback. I have highlighted the cleaning issues to the housekeeper to ensure these are addressed in the future and also highlighted the sink not draining, the weak TV signal to Property Management to attend to. We will feedback the issues with the sofa being a bit sunken to the owners for their information. The time between check out and check in is being revised to check in at 4pm and check out at 9am moving forward. Unfortunately, the housekeeping and maintenance team require the extra hours between guests in case any issues are encountered during a previous guests’ stay which need a couple of hours of repair time before the cleaning team can attend and then new guests can check in after the cleaning has been finished. We will speak to the management company of the building to ensure they are on top of keeping the lift fully functioning for all visitors. Kind regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Property Owner

  • ""We were staying for 7 nights at the apartment with 6 adults (couple and 4 adult children)."

Very spacious and clean. Nice open kitchen with all you need for cooking, dining-place and annex terrace. All bedrooms have their own (small) bathroom, toilet, television, ... The bedroom at the top floor is very spacious, has nice views, but there is not enough light in the associated bathroom for woman's makeup (that's the only small point of criticism we had). Nice and very spacious living room at top floor (television, wii, ...). The Wi-Fi works fine in the apartment. Shops and bakeries at 15' walking distance. Very nice beach, safe for children and with beach lifeguards (also 15' walking distance). Keep in mind that there are steep solves when you explore the area by foot (it is not recommended to use your car to drive in St-Ives downtown area). Keep in mind to make reservations in time if you want to go dining at restaurants or (famous) pubs in the Cornish region and even in St-Ives centre. We were lucky with the weather conditions and had a very good time."
