  • "Lovely apartment, didn’t manage to use the balcony as the weather wasn’t in our favour, we would definitely recommend staying here, ensure you check the car parking space measurements, big cars will not fit, especially if they are long."

    The only thing we found missing was in the double room upstairs no suitable mirror.

  • "Really lovely apartment- particularly spacious and airy."

    Enjoyed the balcony and its view (even in February). Well equipped with quality facilities. Three reasons for less than perfect scores; poor mattress on single bed (right side on entering room), bedside lamp in mezzanine double did not work (we checked bulb, socket and fuse - its the lamp at fault), and couple of bath towels smelled sour - probably damp when put away. To improve, just leaving enough dishwasher tablets for the stay(one a day) would be a welcome touch That said we would definitely come again and recommend to others. Thanks for helping us have a lovely week in St Ives (again).

  • "Beautiful apartment, very well maintained to a high standard."

    My only issue was the master bed room had no privacy due to the balcony that looks over the living room. This wasn’t clear in the description. It’s fine if it was a 1 bedroom apartment but not when it sleeps 6. My other issues was there were no recycling bags or extra bin bags which was an annoyance. But we thoroughly enjoyed staying there and will definitely consider rebooking for our summer holiday.

  • "We loved The Retreat for location, views, overall comfort."

    Just a few glitches. Lamp bulbs were out in a lamp in the main room and the upstairs bedroom. We had to move bulbs and lamps. Instructions for the washer/dryer would be helpful. Visitors from US not as familiar with it and it took long to dry items. Appreciate more information on television operation. Took us several days to reset basic applications to view and restore volume on many channels. We moved the fan from the third bedroom downstairs but would suggest fans for all rooms. We liked the checkin and checkout procedures for flexibility as we arrived later than 4 due to traffic. Overall, a wonderful week and a good central location for exploring Cornwall.

  • "We loved our stay here at the retreat and if we choose a uk holiday next year will be back, the view was perfect and we had plenty of space as well as little things being thought of."

    The pictures do not do this property justice. I do think for future bookings a mention of the beach equipment would be useful as there’s plenty there and saves you bringing your own. The beds were firm and very comfortable and so was the bedding. The gym memberships were used daily by my partner and I, the facilities there were fantastic. I had the best holiday and will look forward to returning.

  • "Having stayed at many properties in St Ives over the years, we found The Retreat to be just about the best."

    Very comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only slightly negative comment I could make is that the TV in the upstairs bedroom is too small. We just could not see it whilst lying in bed having a lazy start to the day. It by no means dampened our enjoyment of the property, and we will return.

  • "The Retreat is a lovely apartment and we had a fantastic holiday there."

    Really light, clean and bright and very accurate listing. Location was perfect for us and we loved hanging out at Porthminster beach. The HarSpa membership was very much appreciated too, we used the pool which was great on a rainy day with our 4 year old and I very much enjoyed a couple of discounted treatments! Only feedback would be that none of the tvs work in the bedrooms as no signal so not sure point of them? Also would be good to mention the beach equipment available to use, we definitely wouldn’t have brought all of ours had we known there was lots there to use! Otherwise really well equipped kitchen, beds were blissfully comfy, excellent coffee machine and we had everything we needed for our stay, thank you! Would book again. Thank you.

  • "A very spacious, modern apartment with a view of the sea from the balcony."

    We enjoyed our stay here. It was very clean and well kept. We did have a problem with a loose fitting of the shower in the downstairs bathroom and 3 bulbs needing replacing but that was sorted very quickly once we had informed the caretaker. The double beds are quite firm which didn’t suit me but the singles were softer so I changed to one of those. A bit of a climb back from the town to the apartment but it does keep you fit.

  • "This property was lovely."

    Spacious, great location and stunning views from the balcony. It was clean and the towels and bedding were really nice. Also perfect that it had a parking space that was accessible. Everywhere in St Ives was just a short walk from here. It was also nice not to be too close to the hustle and bustle. Really comfortable place to stay. We did have an issue with a leak in the upstairs shower, but have to say this was sorted promptly after being reported and I was impressed with the service that we received. (These things after all do happen from time to time). My only niggle - was that the upstairs windows desperately needed cleaning. The main bedroom one opens out into a type of balcony but wasn't pleasant to look at due to how dirty they were (Layers of it). So if you get these cleaned it would really finish it off.

  • "Very pleased with the apartment, very clean and everything we needed was provided and more."

    Location was fabulous, a little out of the way of all the bustle so nice and relaxing on the evenings. Great for the children, plenty space and added extra’s to keep them occupied on the evenings. They loved the property. Spa/swimming was great and close by, perfect.   • "The shower in the upstairs bathroom leaked so we had to stop using it."

    The shower over the bath really isn't up to much and not what we would expect for accommodation of this price and standard so it really need replacing with a proper thermostatic bar and new rail and head. Other than that all was great.

  • ""'The Retreat' and it certainly is a treat."

    This was our first time staying at the Retreat and certainly will not be the last. This apartment is modern and very well equipped. The kitchen has all the necessary equipment needed if you are wishing to cook on a regular basis. The lounge area is large with SKY TV and a PS4 which the kids or big kids) love. The dining area can easily fit 6 people and still not be cramped. The bedroom and main bathroom are comfortable and beautifully decorated. Also has a utility cupboard with washer/dryer, beach footballs, beach tent etc and other extras for the beach. Upstairs the bathroom is spacious and the Main bedroom is once again beautifully decorated and spacious. The second bedroom upstairs with two single beds is well equipped with board games and other games for the children. All bedrooms have TV's and lots of wardrobe/draw space. Can't recommend enough. We will certainly be returning."

The place was very light and airy and south facing so received a lot of light from the floor to ceiling windows. My 3 boys loved the fact there was Sky, a PS4 and DVD player. The property

Ideally situated for St Ives town centre, at Gallinas Point, this three-bedroom, duplex apartment, enjoys breath-taking views of St Ives Bay from its balcony and most bedrooms.

Just a short walk from the pretty harbour, beaches, shops, and St Ives scenic railway.

Sleeping six and an infant, it’s the perfect seaside escape for a family or group of friends looking to holiday in the heart of St Ives. Apex, floor to ceiling windows bathe a spacious open plan living space, which includes a kitchen, dining and sitting area, in natural light making it bright and airy, open the doors to the balcony and breathe in the fresh sea air, cosy up in one of the two three seat sofas or stylish Mora Dillo armchair, comfortably seating six and unwind to Cornwall’s slower pace of life or enjoy the entertainment on the 49 inch Panasonic television with Sky, or gaming on the PS4. The open plan kitchen/dinner with breakfast bar are within the living space, ideal for the designated chef to socialise with guests, the dining area is ideal for entertaining or for all the family to gather for meals where a dining table is located with six chairs so all the family can dine together, the contemporary kitchen is well-appointed with contrasting cream units and stunning Corian work surfaces, offering a perfect space to create your delicious meals, a utility cupboard in the hallway houses a washer/dryer.

There is a choice of three comfortable bedrooms, a master king sized and twin room on the top floor and an additional ground floor king sized room, the upstairs rooms are bathed in natural light from Velux windows, the master benefiting from bay views, the ground floor room has a large window with views of the island sea and beyond, all are well presented with beautifully dressed beds and offer plenty of storage space.

There are two family bathrooms, one next to the top floor rooms, with an enclosed shower and one adjacent to the ground floor bedroom with a bath and shower-over, so everyone will have a space to refresh and rejuvenate ready for a busy day exploring.

A decked balcony is accessed via the living area, enjoying sun for most of the day, as its south facing, it’s furnished to enjoy dining alfresco or drinks in the sun with sea views.

Surrounded by sandy beaches St Ives has many to choose from and all are within a short walk, the nearest is the stunning Porthminster Beach, this glorious stretch of golden sand has crystal clear, blue flag awarded waters, take a seat at the Michelin Plate rated Porthminster Beach café, and enjoy a delicious meal with the ocean as a backdrop, its set right on the beach, or try one of the many other restaurants and cafes throughout this traditional Cornish fishing village, with its pretty harbour, cobbled streets and a plethora of boutiques, unique shops and art galleries, inspiring artist the world over as showcased in its largest gallery, the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden.

St Ives has so much to offer you could be forgiven not to explore the surrounding area but you will be rewarded if you decide to, the best way is on foot via the cliff side South West Coast Path, full of flora and fauna and great for spotting dolphins or seals, if you’re lucky, it heads to Zennor or Carbis Bay and Hayle in the other direction, Carbis Bay Beach has azure coloured waters and golden sand, it’s an idyllic place to spend a day, return back to St Ives via the scenic railway, the journey is exhilarating running beside the Cornish coast.

For a little excitement, try walking above a rain forest at the Eden Project, or discovering the lost garden of Heligan near St Austell, or tread the boards of Cornwall’s cliff side open air theatre, The Minack, with the Atlantic Ocean as its backdrop, you’ll find it near Land’s End, maybe it’s a romantic shot of the sun setting behind St Michael’s Mount, you’ll remember forever, this majestic castle is set on its own island, near Penzance, the kids will love the exciting rides at Flambards theme park, near Helston or feeding the animals at Paradise Park, near Hayle.
