“Apartment was nice, loved the recliners.”

We had to purchase sink unblocker for the bath and basin in the bathroom. Hoover was blocked with pet hair. Previous guests took the St Ives Harbour spa passes home with them. It meant every time we went to the spa we had to explain this.

About the property

Above the stunning Porthminster Beach, at Chy an Porth, on the terrace in St Ives, this one-bedroom, ground floor apartment, enjoys sea views from most rooms, only a few sandy steps from the beaches, town centre, harbour and St Ives scenic railway.

Sleeping two, this pet friendly property is ideal for a couple looking for a romantic retreat to St Ives.

Originally this fine granite building was built by Leslie Stephen, father of the acclaimed author Virginia Woolf, now converted into a wonderful holiday apartment with an open plan design allowing its beautiful sea views, from the French doors, which open out to a seaward facing patio, to flow throughout its living area, so whether you’re cooking, dining or relaxing you can soak up its seaside setting, push the doors outwards and breathe in the fresh sea air, step onto the patio and gasps at the panoramic view stretching across St Ives Bay taking in Porthminster beach and Godrevy Lighthouse, or relax on the brown leather sofa in front of the 48″ Samsung smart television with Freeview.

The kitchen/diner is part of the ground floor open plan living space, ideal for socialising with the designated chef, bathed in natural light from the French doors and bay window, there is a table with four comfortable leather dining chairs provided for your comfort, the contemporary kitchen is well-appointed with high gloss white cupboards, with spacious black granite work surfaces and a washer/dryer, offering all you need for your holiday.

The bathroom is conveniently placed next to the bedroom, enjoy a long soak in the bath with shower over, for washing off all the sand after a busy day on the beach.

The outdoor space includes a large, private, seaward facing, granite terrace, accessed from the living area French doors, a glass topped rattan table with four matching chairs are ideal for dining alfresco, with mesmerising views across the bay to the golden sands of Gwithian as your amazing backdrop. Porthminster Beach, one of St Ives many sandy bays, has a café or restaurant with uninterrupted sea views if you fancy dining out, and offers easy access to the South West Coast Path, which leads to Zenor and all year pet friendly Porthkidney Beach in the other, this wonderful cliffside walk is a great way to spot the local wildlife, seals, dolphins and migrating birds. You can walk to Carbis Bay via the cliffside path or for an exhilarating but relaxing alternative hop on the St Ives scenic railway it runs beside the beaches all the way and the journey is breath-taking, Carbis Bay Beach is a stretch of golden sand which is lapped by azure waters, is lifeguarded at peak times so perfect for swimming, water sports or just strolling romantically along the shore as the sun sets.

St Ives is a beautiful traditional Cornish fishing village, its plethora of restaurants served daily by fishing boats from its working harbour with fresh sea food, browse its pretty cobbled streets searching for gifts or works of art, the largest of its galleries is the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, where one of the towns former, famous, residents are celebrated along with everchanging exhibitions.

For a little romance head towards Penzance where you’ll find a majestic castle set on its own island, St Michaels Mount, or book a show at the Minack Theatre, near Land’s End, its cut out of the edge of a Cornish cliff, both offer memorable backdrops to a night you’ll never forget, or if you fancy adventure take a walk through a lost garden, Heligan, or above the rainforest on the canopy walk way at the Eden Project, both near St Austell, finally search for familiar sights from TV shows filmed in Cornwall like Doc Martin or Poldark. The View offers a stunning location for a romantic Cornish escape and our view is its one you’ll want to enjoy again and again.
