  • “Lovely place, very comfortable for us as a group of 6 (parents, teenage kids + grandparents).”

Helpful and friendly host made us very welcome. One point to add is the wonderful sea view from the upstairs lounge…could make more of this in the listing! Thanks for a happy and relaxing stay.

About the property

This attractive 18th Century cottage stands in the delightful and secluded hamlet of Rosenithon near St Keverne on the Lizard Peninsula, with excellent sea views.

Set over three floors, Penrose Farm Cottage is ideal for family and friends, combining spacious accommodation and light bright decor with original features, including an ancient inglenook fireplace (not in operation) and ceiling beams.

On the ground floor is a double bedroom, bathroom, dining room, study and kitchen.

The first floor delivers sea views from the sitting room, bathroom and two further bedrooms.

The third floor has the fourth bedroom.

The garden is on two levels with an attractive sheltered patio - perfect for alfresco dining or sitting with a chilled drink - and a large raised lawn which backs onto green farmland.

St Keverne is half a mile away with its picturesque village square, shops, Post Office, a good restaurant and a friendly inn.

Boating and diving facilities are available locally.

Take a 10 minute stroll down the footpath to the hidden Godrevy Cove beach.

The valley of the River Helford, with numerous inlets and creeks, evokes a time-stopping ambiance and is ideal for those who enjoy boating or canoeing.

Flambards Theme Park and Poldark Mine are both within easy driving distance.

There is something for all ages on the Lizard Peninsula, renowned for its quaint and pretty villages, including the fishing cove at Cadgwith and other tranquil bays with stunning beaches of white sand and turquoise seas, and secret caves.

The Coastal Footpath passes the cottage and other footpaths are nearby covering long stretches of rugged scenery.

Perfectly located for a coastal and country retreat, Penrose Farm Cottage ticks all the boxes.

About the location

Helston 12 miles.

On the eastern side of The Lizard Peninsula, the pretty village of St Keverne, lying just 1.25 miles inland, is the focal point for this area, with its village pubs and shops surrounding the village square, and an impressive church spire, at one time used to guide the Cornish fishermen home. From St Keverne, you can easily explore the natural and spectacular beauty of the Lizard Peninsula by car, bicycle or on foot. You will find walled fishing harbours, tiny secret coves, sandy bays and dramatic clifftop walks along the South West Coastal path. Just north is the Helford River, a yachtsman's dream and home to Frenchman's Creek, and picturesque Helford village. A short walk takes you to Roskilly’s Farm, where you can tuck in to ice cream to die for. Further afield, visit Falmouth, with one of the world's largest natural harbours, Pendennis Castle built by Henry VIII, and of course you cannot miss out on a trip to The National Maritime Museum.
