  • “The Beaches was the ideal place to spend half term for our family of seven including three young children and two grandparents as there was plenty of room for everyone.”

The master en suite bedroom on the top floor was a perfect retreat for grandparents! However, unfortunately there was a big BUT with several issues with the house, one of which is major. On the last night we had horrendous gales and in the middle of the night the kitchen window vibrated open because the lock was broken and some things on the windowsill cashed to the floor. What makes this such a serious security issue is that the broken lock was reported in a review by Mrs Young in September over a month ago and it had not been rectified. I cannot understand how Sykes Cottages had allowed this to go unresolved. The Freesat TV box did not work so we could only watch TV via the internet. The wall lights in the lounge were not working neither were two of the spotlights in the kitchen near the Hob, along with the light in the extractor over the Hob, making a dim area in which to cook hot food. The door on the en suite shower did not close properly and there were no oven gloves. These points have been highlighted in reviews before, the oven gloves in June 2018. Unlike one of the previous recent reviews we found the house perfectly clean in all respects. The house could and should be a perfect family holiday home and before we realised about the defective kitchen window, we had booked it again for half term next year. We sincerely hope that these problems will be addressed without delay!
