  • "The property was absolutely terrible - very small, dark and shoddy."

My husband couldn't even turn round in the loo or shower, let alone feel comfortable. Extremely overpriced and very poor.

Thank you for your feedback. The property is a Grade 2 listed cottage dating from 1750 and the installation of ensuites to all of the bedrooms has restricted the other space slightly. A professional interior designer was employed to advise on the interior layout and supply all curtains, cushions and rugs. The website accurately shows all rooms, the interior design and the furnishings. Property Owner

  • "Lovely location and cottage is comfortable with all facilities as advertised."

Owners have Tried to squeeze en-suite into each bedroom that has made each room very small with little room to move. Very little space for hanging clothes or storage of luggage. Pool area really good but was asked to only book one time slot for the whole of the stay and then see what’s available after that although property advertised with use of pool, nothing states limited. Building works being undertaken on other properties in close proximity so quite noisy during the day. Wouldn’t be rushing to return to the cottage but would definitely look at booking again in the area as Portscatho is beautiful.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. The property is a Grade 2 listed cottage dating from 1750 so the installing of ensuites to all of the bedrooms has restricted the space slightly. A professional interior designer was employed to advise on the interior layout and supply all curtains, cushions and rugs. Due to the current pandemic it was necessary to put restrictions in place for use of the pool and everything was done to accommodate guests requirements wherever possible. All major building works being carried out on other properties close by have been completed, it is only interior refurbishment that is ongoing. Property Owner

  • "Appalling property."

Have made formal complaint to skyes and the owner. Have received a partial refund because of the poor cleanliness of the property. Property in poor state of repair (radiator covers falling off wall, radiator leaking, dishwasher tips over as not fitted properly, Wi-Fi does not work properly ). Property completely dirty. Would share photos here if I could. Toilets not cleaned properly, body hair on the beds which have either not been changed or been changed with other dirty sheet, huge accumulation of dust under beds, skirting boards et cetera indicative of poor cleaning routine over a long period. We had to clean when we arrived. Description of property completely misleading. It is not spacious it is cramped. Two of the bedrooms are accessed by one set of stairs, the other bedroom by the other set of stairs which is not reflected in the literature. I have been very disappointed by the response from skyes and from the owner. The location of this property is incredible and it is a lovely part of the world but I suspect that is why people keep booking it, but I would urge people to avoid it. It is dirty and uncomfortable.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the location of Trewince Manor Cottage but we are sad to read that the property didn't fit your requirements on this occasion: I can see that you have discussed your concerns with our customer team. We are assured that the caretakers are on hand 24/7 to deal with any maintenance issues: I understand the dishwasher and the radiator were adjusted during your stay. A new cleaning system has now been set in place to ensure higher standards are upheld in the future. Property Owner

  • "The cottage itself was nice but we paid £1,500 for a cottage WITH the use of a swimming pool & Jaccuzi."

To be told AFTER we booked that they weren’t available was, frankly, a deception. We contacted the number for Sykes to hear a recorded message saying they were too busy to talk to customers. We were prepared to pay over the odds for a break as we work in the NHS, had our summer holiday cancelled and have been working all the way through the Covid crisis. Not surprisingly, were very upset when we got an email to say the leisure facilities were shut. If the facilities are not available, you should not be advertising them, Covid or not!! Oh, the bath overflow leaks as does the master bedroom radiator. WiFi is useless

Thank you for leaving your feedback following your stay at Trewince Manor Cottage. Though the lines may have been quite busy when you contacted us, we can see that our customer team were subsequently in touch and a partial refund was provided for the loss of the facilities. The decision to close these leisure facilities was made due to Covid restrictions at the time and the website listing was updated to reflect this as soon as this information was received. These facilities will be open for the 2021 season. Contact details for the caretaker (24/7) are available at the property, so any maintenance issues can be swiftly addressed, if they are informed. The wifi speed cannot always be guaranteed in more remote areas and may not be comparable to the Superfast broadband you are familiar with at home. Property Owner

  • "This was a beautiful cottage, it was warm and downstairs was comfortable."

The beds were very uncomfortable, very hard both large beds. We booked this cottage because of the pool and jacuzzi on the site, we were told, only because i asked, that the pool was closed due to covid!!! There was no reason for this as pools are open all over the country. I spoke to Skykes on numerous occasions and called them about this, we wanted a refund for a small part of the cost of the cottage, they said the owner was not responding and I never heard anything back!!! Very frustrating...

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the cottage. We are pleased to see that you have been compensated for the facilities which were temporarily closed and hope you'll choose Trewince Manor Cottage again in the future. Property Owner

Once an important pilchard-fishing village, today Portscatho is a popular holiday destination for those seeking a traditional seaside location. Brimming with Cornish charm, there is a sandy beach and a harbour, as well as a pub, a butcher’s, a greengrocer’s and a handful of gift shops and galleries. The coastline here is most scenic, with hidden coves, secret beaches and mile upon mile of undulating coastal footpath. The village of Gerrans is just a short stroll along the shore, and the beautiful Porthcurnick beach is also accessible via the coast path from Porthscatho. Portscatho offers a holiday away from it all, with a welcoming community spirit and several annual events which everyone gets involved with – including the fish festival each August.
