“Dave, our host, was absolutely fantastic!”

Because of covid my brother in law and I were due to take our children but actually ended up inviting 2 more friends instead (as they had school etc) so 4 surfer dudes end up coming and Dave welcomed us just as warmly. This barn conversion is absolutely fantastic for families, plenty of safe space for kids to run around and check out the cows in the farmers feild, the living room is great, the beds comfy and the showers have great pressure. There’s plenty of storage to get your clothes away and a vast array of utensils and cooking paraphernalia that don’t have to eat out all the time. I can assure you for families it’s brilliant BUT for surfers it’s amazing! To be able to pop your boards directly into your rooms without having to traverse living rooms etc is brilliant AND the location is spot on - 20mins from each shore north and south is perfect. The washing machine is excellent and the washing line is placed perfectly to get everything dry at the right time of day. Now for the WiFi - the amount of bad WiFi in Cornwall is crazy but Ivy Cottage has probably the best WiFi I’ve ever used in Cornwall! The TV has Netflix and all the other apps if that’s your thing and sofas are really comfy if you want a chilled day. Superbly quiet and charming, Ivy Cottage is the best year and I’ve stayed all over the SW. Please book this place with confidence - I don’t normally rate these types of things but genuinely wanted to share our experience! Thank you Sykes, thank you Dave, it was brilliant and I’m already going to book again, it’s a perfect “home” base for us as a family and as a surfing group.

The property

Tucked away in the rural landscape of Relubbus near the River Hayle, swamped by flourishing wildlife and wonderful greenery that creeps right up to the doorstep, is this charming barn conversion boasting a contemporary design.

Idyllically located within short distance of Marazion, this Cornish cottage suits families and friends seeking a reviving break in the country.

The interior is perfectly arranged on one level, with three light and refreshing bedrooms, each opening out onto the patio enjoying the peace and tranquility of the natural surroundings.

The king-size double boasts an en-suite, whilst the lovely double and single room are accompanied by a family shower room.

When you are done with events for the day and you want somewhere to relax and unwind, the lounge area provides leather sofas to kick back on, positioned next to the dining table.

All your cooking essentials are adequately provided in the kitchen; neutral shades grace the tiles on the back wall alongside a collection of units and modern appliances.

This finish about the place contrasts wonderfully with the stone exterior and wooden beams, elevating the cottage in a characterful manner.

The garden is a excellent space for the kids to run around whilst the patio provides a perfect spot to sit with a glass of wine or chilled beer.

This ideal situation brings golden beaches, thrilling watersports and family fun all round, with Mount's Bay offering spectacular views out towards the rocky coastline of The Lizard peninsula.

Penzance is a beautiful, historic port with many wonders to explore including Morrab Gardens near the seafront and boat trips to St Michael's Mount - you can even walk the causeway if the tide is out.

Take a plunge in the art deco Jubilee lido swimming pool located on the only promenade in Cornwall which looks out towards Mount’s Bay and discover Cornwall's artistic side at the Penlee House Gallery and Museum on Morrab Road.

Many joys are to be had and memories to be made at this Cornish cottage near Marazion.
