A nice welcome basket of tea coffee and biscuits was most welcome. Plenty of towels provided. Kitchen was very well equipped. Would recommend and will be returning.

  • "A great place to stay."

Comfortable and clean. Could be improved slightly with some more outside furniture. Had a small issue which was resolved once we contacted the caretaker. We had 8 adults, a baby and dogs yet it felt spacious with room for all. On the site we found everywhere clean and accessible, particularly enjoying walks to and around the lake area. Can fully recommend this place for family stays.

Just a few things would be nice to have some seating on top balcony. Unfortunately we were plague by ant in the kitchen and food area I did ring the housekeeper who kindly came out and put some stuff down but didn't really work but nothing was to much for her to help and was very kind and helpful. Would definitely stay again just needs a little updating and re decorating.

We loved the first floor living room, and all of the outdoor decking areas and made use of the bbq too! Just one minor thing was that the kitchen kickboard came out every time you opened the dishwasher. We appreciated the welcome pack and we had a fab holiday!

Beautiful, spacious and very clean. Stunning location and lots to do on site, we had a brilliant week! Really convenient being able to text the caretaker with any problems or even just to check a few things before we arrived. Lots of nice little touches to help make our stay as comfortable as possible, including the welcome basket with tea, coffee, biscuits etc. We will definitely be rebooking for next year!

  • "Excellent host and accommodation."

Fitted with everything a young family would need (2 Adults, Young Child and Baby). There was even a little welcome basket with tea and coffee in, and a pint of milk in the fridge waiting. We love the location; easy to get to Polzeath, Padstow and even south to Looe for the day. Aria resort is nice and the facilities ie. swimming pool & restaurant are clean and new; staff are really friendly and accommodating. Spa is also really nice, well priced but would recommend to book before you go to guarantee an appt. Didn’t realise but all water sports and activities cost extra and they’re not cheap! So we didn’t make use of them but even without it’s a great base. Would definitely recommend (this lodge was actually nicer than the last one we stayed in which we booked through the actual resort!)

  • "Lovely, spacious lodge."

Retallack is a really good resort with nice facilities including a shop and bar on-site. It was a bit more remote than we imagined, was advised that there are no walking routes to villages. Restaurant on-site was only doing bar food, not dinners, so be prepared to do some driving to the pub. But overall had a really good week, and would go back.

  • "We had an enjoyable stay at Lodge 66, but we weren't very happy with the misinformation regarding the facilities."

We felt this should have been advised before our arrival, if it was longer included within the lodge. I'm glad to see this has now been updated on your website for others.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry if this may have been missed. We hope this did not impact the enjoyment of your stay. Property Owner

Only minor things wrong really apart from being overpriced. ie no grill pan/ rack No oven instuctions No jug Toilet seat in upper twin ensuite needs attention Dishwasher displaying lots of warning lights Hoover needs cleaning ,it smelt! Apart from these minor issues all ok. Please feed back to owner.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. All the issues have been dealt with. It was a shame you didn't contact the housekeeper during your stay, as she would have been happy to try and rectify things for you. Property Owner

Some of the furnishings could do with an upgrade but everything was clean. The BBQ had been left used and not cleaned so we cleaned it, however it was not fit for use and could do with being replaced or removed from listing of facilities. Overall very happy with the accommodation and holiday.

We are sorry to hear the BBQ had not been cleaned for your visit. We have spoken to the housekeeper who is going to remove the BBQ and replace with a new one at a later date. Property Owner

  • "As per our correspondence with Daniel in Customer Services."

We had one day and night without gas. We could not shower, cook or heat the property. This was not the owners fault as things can go wrong in a home. If Sykes had answered their phones sometime in the +-10 hours, the problem could have been solved. Instead the housekeeper and Owner had to get involved and arrange another lodge for us to move to at 5.30p.m. after a stressful day. We have asked for compensation from Sykes, not the owner, for loss of a whole day of our holiday.

There was everything you needed and a lovely welcome hamper on arrival. We will definitely stay here again. The lodge was spotless. Someone mentioned that the doors downstairs were sticking, they were but not enough to complain about and the glasses were dirty, not when we arrived everything was spotless as I said. It was so spacious but very homely.

  • "8 adults 2 toddlers and 2 babies ."

We were able to get 4 cars on the parking area outside the lodge which was great. Property has stair gates at top and bottom of the stairs which was very useful . We used them when we needed them . The back and front verandas were toddler proof. Lovely high ceiling sitting room on the top floor . The door to the main bath room stuck a bit . Actually most of the doors down stairs seemed to have the same issue . One advantage of this was the toddlers could not open them . Rubbish no longer picked up three times a week due to a policy change (Covid-19).So you need to drop it off yourself to an area not far from reception . Best to book pool and gym before you get there as there are COVID-19 restrictions . Or book soon after you arrive . There are a few hidden beach’s around that are sometimes empty however not 100% pushchair friendly but sometimes worth the hassle . We got all the twin beds made into doubles . Best to double check this the day before you get there. The beds are comfortable but when the twin beds are made into a double the duvet covers are not big enough . One of the bedrooms is small . We had two adults in it but possibly best left as twin beds and have two young kids in there . Washer dryer was very useful during the week . The property insulation seems good and it has radiators through out the property so should be find in winter . We went in August . Even though towels were not listed there were some in all bedrooms . We really enjoyed our stay at lodge 66

The site however is not the best. The golf is no longer there and the tennis courts have no nets. Also you couldn’t hire any fishing equipment so kids couldn’t fish. They need to spend more money on the site for the people who stay there. The site is having a new water park but not until next year. This site is ok if you want just a base.

  • "The lodge its self was excellent, everything as described in your description."

The dissapointment for our group was the on site facilities. In your description it stated that on site it had tennis courts? ( there was a court but no nets so could not play. ) an eight hole pitch and putt golf course? ( no golf course anymore due to site extenstion so could not play. ) WiFi ( WiFi dropped out on occassions and dropped out completely day six and was still out when we departed. ( no WiFi no television, so nobody could watch TV last two days) a shop? well it was only a few shelves in recepition and was very limited ( so had to use local outlets which were two miles away. ) restaurant was no longer selling breakfast which according to the sign had been like that since the third of June. ( so no breakfast option available ). We were constantly told that the site has new owners who are niw investing into the site so in a couple of years it will be improved. This did not make us feel any better as the main reason in us choosing this holiday was because of the on site facilities which we intended to use now, and as the site is remote there was nothing else local to appease all of our group. The pool, waterpark, Health and Spa club, Fitness and Spin studio, and fishing are still available on site. As we had varying ages in our group there was alot of bored and unhappy people which is not what you want when you are all under one roof on one site.

  • "I asked and was advised by a Sykes advisor that both twin rooms would be made into double beds."

..they were not. There was no battery in the kitchen clock and a number of lightbulbs didn't work. The upstairs double bedroom en suite sink plug broke. It was difficult only having one key for the property as we when we went out separately we would have to cut our outing short to let the other people back in. There was no patio furniture on the front porch.
