  • "Stayed in this lovely cottage October 21 and loved it."

Perfect location for visiting Cornwall quiet area with some lovely pubs local the carpenters inn and the rifle is where we visited with warm welcomes. Looe and Polperro are 30mins fowey was about 40mins drive ans well worth the visit, Newquay was 60mins drive. We got the train from gunnislake Station to st Ives which is 3 hours ish but thw views from the train are worth the journey and really doesn't feel as long. Would certainly stay again and would recommend, views from cottages are gorgeous very peaceful, garden is big for the dogs to play. Everything you need in this cottage and appliances all simple to use. Hotub a bonus

The photo of garden size is a bit misleading (wide angled lens used, looked a lot larger in photo) bit dusty in places, had a couple of issues which were dealt with promptly, overall highly recommend Tamar Cottage, beautiful setting & service

  • "The views are to die for at this location, price was about right for property as we have stayed in many of this type but I have to say we will be staying with Sykes again, from the communication with Kirsten down to the attention to detail of the property, they have gone the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need etc."

these people care that you have a nice holiday which is something that seems to be lacking from many other places Just like to say thank you and we will be back again soon

  • "We had a lovely stay."

The holiday park was quiet and well kept. The cottage was well maintained and had all we needed apart from a tumble dryer. As there was only one set of towels each, using them for the hot tub and showers was a struggle although we washed them, we couldn’t dry them quick enough. Kitchen was well equipped. Lovely house and garden. Transport needed as it’s very rural. Overall very pleased.

beautiful views over the Tamer valley. well supplied kitchen and very friendly hosts. my one negative is that some areas of the decor need attention. lighting to park entrance will improve finding the site.

Accommodation was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. The only thing I will say is the internet seemed to drop out a fair bit while we were there.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Tamar Cottage."

It has everything you will need. The facilities are nice and clean. My only issue is that not everything in the kitchen was clean, so I had to wash everything before use. I would recommend the cottage to friends and family.

  • "The cottage was lovely ."

The garden is big. The camera angle in advertised photo makes the garden look longer . A couple of static caravans can see in to the garden . The views from garden down to Tamar valley are stunning from the hot tub . The cottage was spotlessly clean but a couple of the pots and baking trays had to be washed before using . There is a Tesco store is 10 min drive away in Callington and Tavistock is a lovely village with an indoor market .

  • "We had a lovely stay at Tamar Cottage."

Kirsten from Tamar holiday park was so friendly and helpful with a couple of minor issues that arose. She had also put up a Christmas tree and left lots of wrapped goodies for the kids which was very much appreciated as well as her flexibility around our late arrival time. The cottage is in a good location- beautiful views from the back of the house and the hot tub and some lovely local walks. As well as being close to a supermarket (5min drive) for the essentials. We could have done with a baking tray in the cottage and a bit more cutlery but other than that it was well equipped. Would recommend.

  • "We had a lovely break in Cornwall."

The cottage was in a great location in order to visit different places. It was very inside and out. The only thing we missed was a mop in order to clean the shower after we’d all been in the hot tub. We arrived early after a long journey down and The cottage was clean and ready for us which was a bonus. Also the day before setting off we got an email with some useful information and tips on places to visit and restaurants to eat.

About the location

CALLINGTON

Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles, Plymouth 14.6 miles.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.
