“Absolutely superb cottage for the 2 of us, great BBQ / terrace area at the back.”

The provision of milk, scones jam and Cornish cream, together with coffee pods etc on arrival is a very welcome gesture. Quiet rural location, but beware of the noisy cockerel which seemingly gets vocal from 3am! Care needed on the feature circular staircase and the shower room could do with a shelf over the sink, but otherwise all areas beautifully modernised and thoughtfully colour coordinated. The nearby village of St Columb Major has a very useful Co-op, excellent Chinese takeaway and the Ring-O-Bells pub does exceptionally good food, as does the Falcon Inn in nearby St Mawgan.

The property

St Columb Major 1 mile.

A lovely cottage located close to the rural hamlet of St Columb Major on the north Cornish coast.

This 300-year old former farm cottage has been luxuriously restored to an extremely high standard whilst retaining many original features.

Drive down leafy lanes to the edge of Talskiddy you reach the cottage.

The quietness surrounds you as you enter the cottage through the porch and then into the open plan living area, where a splendid mixture of modern living and original features blend perfectly including a cloam oven nestled in the granite fireplace.

There is a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and comfortable sitting area with woodburner, which then leads out to the utility room and the garden.

Head up the spiral staircase from the living room, to find two comfortable bedrooms, both adjacent to the bathroom.

Outside the cottage is a beautiful enclosed garden with patio area where you can relax with a refreshing drink whilst enjoying the sounds of the countryside, or use the barbecue and dine alfresco.

History suggests that Talskiddy has been a settlement for over 4000 years and has a traditional village green and a duck pond, known by the residents as 'the harbour'.

The nearest town is St Columb Major, just over a mile away, where there are a range of shops, a supermarket, two traditional butchers, both well known for their pasties, take-aways and pubs.

The beautiful west facing beach at Mawgan Porth, which is mid-way between Newquay and Padstow, is situated just four miles from the cottage and offers acres of golden sands, superb surfing and wonderful coastal walks to Watergate Bay and Padstow.

With so much on offer close by, and easy access to Cornwall's major tourist attractions, there will always be plenty to do.

This lovely cottage is a perfect holiday base at any time of year.
