  • "This was a wonderful find, especially as we took our dog."

There were private farm trails galore which the owners made clear we were welcome to use. The cottage had everything we needed and we enjoyed our welcome pack very much. Being able to be book a few days rather than a full week was a bonus for us. We had a great long weekend, thank you! The location was excellent as we needed to visit relatives in the Padstow area and our dog loved the local beaches!

The cottage itself was beautifully warm, cosy and comfortable.. The owners although very nearby didn’t intrude but repaired the DVD player very quickly and we’re friendly and helpful. All the facilities, beaches and local towns very about 5 miles away, so ideal

Not an issue if you clean up straight away. These facts need to be disclosed before making a booking, at the moment you do not know until paid in full.

The welcome pack was amazing and just what we needed after a long drive. The cottage was clean, warm and cosy and had everything we needed. The addition of some board games for the kids, and logs for the wood burner was really appreciated. Great location, just 10 minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches. The kids loved the muddy walk to see the farm animals and the farm eggs were delicious, thanks. Would definitely love to come back one day.

  • "The cottage was absolutely lovely."

The only slight downside was that it is incredibly hard to find in the dark. We arrived late and struggled to find the driveway. The written instructions were not that helpful in the dark. If the directions referenced to follow signs for the farm shop from the cross roads and then the turning would be on the left this might be better. Also the bed linen (sheets mainly) are very tired and worn, we popped into Truro to buy new ones for our stay as the ones provided were not comfortable. We had a fantastic stay and we would absolutely book again.

Thank you for your feedback, we are incredibly pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay, we are sorry you had difficulty in finding the property, we have asked the owner to check over the directions we provide incase we can improve on them at all to assist future guests. We hope to welcome you back to The Westcountry in the near future. We can also confirm that the linen was new on the beds Property Owner

It felt very homely and comfortable immediately. We enjoyed the welcome pack! The cottage is situated in a peaceful location but is literally just a few miles from beaches and shops. We managed to explore so many places due to the location; we saw some amazing beaches and walked some of the coastal path. Recommended place to stay.

  • "We’ve been visiting Trenouth Cottage with our dogs for many years and always feel so welcome and relaxed in this large comfortable house which is situated in a peaceful rural location within easy reach of Padstow and some truly stunning beaches and coastal footpaths on the north Cornish coast."

The kind and considerate owners are always so accommodating and keen for visitors to explore their beautiful farm which is home to animals such as cows, pigs and peacocks. The bedding and mattresses have been updated since our last visit and we slept incredibly well all week. We look forward to returning again soon.

  • "The location and size of the property was great."

The pillows on the bed were/are awful, really cheap and thin. The mattress in the master bedroom was also lumpy and uncomfortable on one side. Another disappointment was the complete lack of ANYTHING in the kitchen other than 1 bin liner and some washing up liquid was very mean. Considering how much we paid for the cottage it was like the absolute bare minimum was provided for us. We stayed for two weeks and no cleaning after week one was not great either.

Hello, I am sorry that the cottage was a disappointment. We agree that the mattress and pillows had fallen below an unacceptable standard. We have replaced all of the pillows and ordered a new mattress for the main bed. I am afraid that we were away for the very week you arrived and that there may have been a breakdown in the normal procedures. In the kitchen I think you did have the normal welcome pack of wine and biscuits, milk, tea and coffee, etc. But also in the kitchen we should have provided cleaning products, dishwasher tablets etc as well as several bin bags and recycling bags etc. If it these were not there I apologise. We were not aware that a lot more than this is expected and will liaise with CCH to see how we can improve on this front. Anybody staying for 2 weeks is always offered the option to have a complete clean and at the very least a linen change and again we are not sure how this did not take place. or that contact was not made to see if you required this. (a lot of people prefer to not be disturbed) I have asked CCH to put in place a protocol to ensure this doesn't happen again. Property Owner

The cottage had everything you’d need for your stay and had a lovely welcome pack, including milk, tea, wine and biscuits! However, this property had a distinct feel of being “tired” and in our opinion needed a refresh, and a really good deep clean.

The owners are very friendly and are more than happy to chat when you see them around the farm. The cottage’s location means it’s blissfully peaceful with only the sound of birds twittering (and the peacocks of course!) from the many trees so you’re able to relax from the second you arrive which is what a holiday is for. The cottage is spotlessly clean with plenty of crockery and glasses. The double bed, with the metal frame, which we slept in was so comfortable and the bedroom has lots of storage. The whole cottage has a very light and open feel which is wonderful and with so many windows and so many beautiful views it’s a real pleasure to come back at the end of the day. It’s in the perfect location for us as we love Harlyn Bay and Padstow. It’s easy to get to all the attractions you’ll want to visit. We loved it so much we’ve booked to come back next year and we can’t wait!

Thank you for your comments. We are really disappointed that you did not contact us at the time of your stay when we could have taken action as necessary. The owners live nearby and were unaware of any issues, they would have been more than happy if you had let them know so that they could have dealt with any issues. We have not received any comments regarding the house being damp and cold, we will however keep an eye on reviews and take action if required. Property Owner

  • "Lovely, peaceful place which, although its on a working farm, is cleverly positioned so that it feels as though its on its own."

This means that you don't see any of the farm traffic or other people unless you want to. Lots of good dog-walking country in surrounding area and the cottage itself is clean, has plentiful hot water, a thoughtful welcome pack (much appreciated, thank you) and everything else you could need. Plenty of space to park, dog-friendly gardens and it all feels nicely safe and secure. My one suggestion would be to improve/update the garden furniture, currently its an unmovable (heavy) picnic bench but that's a very minor issue. The real delight is no road-traffic noise and minimal light pollution, falling asleep under starlight and waking up to bird song is exactly what a holiday ought to be about. Its also within 4/5 miles of half a dozen beaches and bays and the south west coast path.

We had our dog with us and like to think that we are responsible enough to clear up any of her waste, but clearly, the previous occupants couldn't be bothered. whilst we accept that it is no fault of the owners, we feel the garden could have been checked more thoroughly prior to our arrival.

Unfortunately the cottage wasn’t quite what we were expecting. It’s a bit tired - paint peeling, kitchen units falling apart, beds are past their best with lumpy mattresses. Shower was either freezing or too hot to stand under, took a very long time to get temperature ok. The whole property was very dusty with cobwebs everywhere. Overall it’s a lovely cottage - just needs to be updated. Certainly doesn’t warrant the four ticks you have given it. I just wonder when the last time Sykes checked it over. Ive booked through Sykes many times and always been delighted with properties but am sorry to say that I was really let down with this cottage.
