It is also very well-placed for trips to Plymouth, the Eden Project and the coast. The only issues were a lack of some facilities such as a washing machine (we have a two year old who gets through clothes at an exceptional rate) and WiFi, which is something that is almost assumed to be provided these days. It might be worth mentioning that the two parking spaces out the back don’t really allow for two cars, especially if either of them are bigger than average. The welcome email from the owner was very handy for suggestions of places to go. We found that both the Two Bridges and the Ferry House were excellent pubs on a sunny day, a walk up to Forder was worth the effort, and the Foreign Muck restaurant on the high street rather undersells itself, and is probably the best establishment in the town. Whitsand Bay is lovely especially Sharrow Beach.

The property

Situated in the heart of Saltash, this stylish three story accommodation is ideal for a family of four or couples seeking to explore Cornwall's many surfing beaches, villages, coastal walks and gardens.

Just moments away from the waterfront and the high street with its cafés, pubs and restaurants, this elegant contemporary house is an ideal base for day trips to Whitsand Bay, Cotehele National Trust House, the Tamar estuary and Torpoint.

Upon entering the property through the private front courtyard, kick of your shoes in the spacious hallway.

On the ground-floor there is a handy downstairs cloakroom and utility area.

Climb the staircase to the bright open-plan living space on the first-floor, complete with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and breakfast bar, making it the perfect space to enjoy spending time together with your loved ones.

Also on the first-floor is a spacious double bedroom, served by a family bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC.

Upstairs on the second-floor leads to a stunning light filled loft style master bedroom with distant river views and a convenient en-suite shower room.

Next door is a twin bedroom suitable for families with children.

The courtyard garden at the front of the house is a sun trap with comfy seating - a perfect spot for enjoying your morning coffee.

If you can tear yourself away from this stunning base, there is so much to do in the Tamar Valley area, whether it is exploring the river Tamar by boat, walking along the banks to a quiet pub or visiting the National Trust Cotehele House, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.

And of course a visit to Cornwall would not be complete without a day trip to the beach, with Whitsand Bay just a 20 minutes drive away and offering over three miles of stunning sand.

About the location

Plymouth 6 miles; Liskeard 14 miles.

Saltash is dominated by the magnificent Tamar Bridge, Brunel’s masterpiece of engineering taking people from Devon to Cornwall across the Tamar River, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Saltash retains much of its old Cornish charm with narrow streets rising steeply from the banks of the river, and plenty of shops and interesting inns. From the old quayside there are river trips up stream to Calstock, a pretty village with white cottages on a steep hillside. Here, the 120 foot giant 11-arched Calstock Railway Viaduct towers above the River Tamar and carries one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines down to the coast. Saltash offers some beautiful walks along the Tamar, and is only a five minute drive from Plymouth, with a plenty to occupy visitors including the historic Barbican quayside area with cafes, shops and bistros, the National Marine Aquarium and several theatres. A perfect base for exploring the area along the beautiful River Tamar.
