  • "The owners were very welcoming and after the initial meeting left us to enjoy our privacy and the tasty hens eggs that were left for us."

The lodge was luxurious, very clean and comfortable and in a very picturesque location. The alpacas in the next field were fascinating to watch and were really quiet which I didn't expect. We used the hot tub in the early morning and then again in the evening after day trips to Tintagel, Port Isaac, Padstow, Truro, Looe and Polperro. We had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely return,

It was so nice peaceful and beautiful so nice to sit in the hot tub in the day and at night looking up at the stars listening the owls and the fox's, the owners were very nice people who came to see if we was OK and if we needed anything. The alpacas are beautiful, along with all the other beautiful wildlife. Will definitely return thank you 10/10

  • "Email you sent the day before we left angered me."

The property we arrived at was, dirty, unkempt and the shower disgusting. I had to buy, window cleaner, disenfectant, CIF and general cleaning product! The vacuum cleaner wasn't emptied and smelt. The threshold's of patio doors full of dirt. Windows inside or out we're not cleaned. Worst of all was the Shower! Black mould around bottom runners! Despite cleaning them 3-4 times, was unable to get them as I would of liked them. I find that complaining falls on deaf ears, so I haved stopped complaining as in the past nothing was published. I have decided not to waste my hard saved money booking with Sykes anymore. I'm So Upset and dissapointed in the standards of Owners and yourselves wanting to make a fast buck and not supplying the servicers your Customers deserve!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. We’re sorry you felt the Lodge wasn’t what you expected it to be. If you had contacted us during the time of your stay we would have been happy to help with any issues mentioned. We are surprised to hear these comments, especially as reading through past feedback we have never had an issue like this before and guests have always found the Lodge clean and enjoyable. • "We had a wonderful holiday at Tamar Lodge."

The spot is peaceful and you are left alone, though the owners are around if you need them. The lodge was bigger than it looks in the pictures and everything you need is provided. The open plan living was great and it was lovely and warm too, we did try out the wood burner one evening, just because we could, but we found we were too hot. We slept very well in the “softer than we would normally choose” bed. The Alpacas in the field next door were a bonus. The owners invite you to walk around the farm to see the others. We were joined by the three very friendly dogs and a cat for this jaunt though they never bothered us at the lodge. The hot tub was perfect for unwinding at the end of a day out and we enjoyed spotting shooting stars and satellites in the huge sky. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tamar Lodge.

  • "Our second visit to Tamar Lodge, obviously we like it there or we would not have returned."

We really enjoyed the anticipation of our holiday it carried us through the long winter lockdown and the mega busy Summer we had in the area of Cornwall we live in this year. Finally it was our time to enjoy ourselves in a quieter area of Cornwall which we discovered because of our post lockdown holiday in Tamar Lodge last year. We were once again treated to a week of peace and quiet, where the only noise at night is the hooting of the owls and the gentle noises the beautiful alpaccas make, our breakfasts were shared with the birds and squirrels and Sammy the most adoreable holiday cat, with her magnificent tail! The hot tub was again made good use of after our daily walking adventures to the many beautiful locations all within an easy 10 mile radius. It was a lovely week which passed by too quickly, and it was time to hand over the lodge for another lucky couple to enjoy. Great place with caring owners makes this place so special.

  • "One of the positive things to come out of Covid was our desire to holiday near to home and take the opportunity to support small local holiday providers and really get the chance to explore an area we have only ever passed through before."

The lodge was everything we hoped it would be, we had a relaxing week and could easily have spent more time there. We felt safe, and the lodge was a very easy place to stay in. It was well equipped and had a smart tv and very good wifi. We mainly explored the area on foot and it was lovely to have such a comfortable base to return to after a day's walking, the hot tub was lovely and we are already missing it! The hosts were there in the distance.......but gave us space and privacy, just as we hoped they would. Would we return again? of course we would!

  • "The lodge was tastfully decorated throughout, with everything we needed for a cosy, quiet getaway."

Bed was comfortable, and we slept well, as it was so quiet on the Farm. It was great to see the alpacas running around,we would have spent more time in the spacious private garden, but sadly the weather was not on our side. We didn't use the logburner at all, even though everything was there ready for us if we chose to, there are radiators so this was fine for us. We used the hot tub, which was easy to control and so relaxing. It was only for our use and was very private, not being overlooked. We will definately be back, but will aim for Spring or Summer, so that we can enjoy the outside areas more. Thanks for a relaxing and cosy break.

  • "This was our first visit to Cornwall, and Tamar Lodge."

We are a couple who stayed for a week in mid September 2019. The owner sent a text to us on the morning of our arrival day, giving details of check-in and good directions to the lodge which was nice. Everything was straight forward on our arrival, and the cottage was clean, cosy and exactly as shown in the pictures online. The views are amazing, and we loved seeing the Alpacas grazing in the field right next to us. We arranged for an Asda delivery, and it arrived soon after we got there, followed by a warm welcome and introduction from the owner, who gave us some recommendations for places to visit nearby. We used the hot tub at least once a day (sometimes more), which was especially lovely after a day out sight-seeing. Inside the lodge, we had everything that we needed for the week. There was also a lovely "Welcome tray" and toiletries. There were even chocolates on the pillows! One night, we enjoyed a game of Scrabble, which we found in a cupboard too. Being in the "middle-of-nowhere", you do need to have your own transport to go anywhere. The location of this lodge is idyllic and perfect for a "Couples getaway" Sharrow beach at Whitsand Bay is beautiful, and only 20 minutes from the lodge. We can also recommend the food at Notter Bridge Inn (less than a 10 minute drive). Martin and Jayne, Leeds, West Yorkshire

  • "The cottage was close to perfection for us."

I am reluctant to write a review in case other folk find out just how good this place is! We needed time to unwind from a very stressful year and this was an ideal place to do just that. Communication with the owners was easy regarding keys, etc. They spoke with us when we arrived and left, and were available if needed. There was a generous Welcome Pack awaiting us containing several local goodies. There is one other holiday cottage at the location, but we were hardly aware of them. We loved the peacefulness of the cottage, and the serenity of the alpacas who were generally quiet and very restful to observe. We didn't have time to go walking with the alpacas but it was available to do. At the time we stayed the Alpacas were in the adjacent field which meant there were several flies around and a slight background aroma, but we expected that when staying on a working farm. The cottage had everything we could possibly need. Except a washing machine, but we knew that. As we were staying away for a further week this was important to us, but not a deal breaker. There was a good laundrette in nearby Kelly Bray (don't be put off by the industrial estate it sits on) or its sister version in the shopping area of Callington if you don't need to park next door. We enjoyed using the hot tub, and visiting the local area including Plymouth, Dartmoor, Dartington, Rame Head and local beaches. We spent a day quietly “at home” enjoying the sunshine and the view. We have stayed in the area several times before, so did not feel pressured to view all of the sights in one week. The dark skies made for perfect stargazing. There was a great local shop/garage/post office in the village, with Waitrose and Lidl a few miles away in Saltash. The cottage was ideal for us, but it won't suit everyone. It is very quiet and rural. You need a car to get around. We loved staying here and hope to go back soon.
