  • "Lovely, homely cottage which was exceptionally clean and comfortable, with a very well-equipped kitchen and plenty of games, books and DVDs for evenings and wet days!"

It was also great to see an emphasis on sustainability, with the cottage equipped with eco products and an electric car charging point for people that need it. Detailed general information about the cottage and surrounding area was provided by the owners beforehand which was very helpful. Perfect location for accessing both Bude and beautiful local beaches and coastlines. Thank you very much, we really enjoyed our stay!

Ah thanks for the lovely feedback Judy. Was a pleasure having you at the cottage, though wish the weather had been better for you! Property Owner

  • "The cottage is clean and well equipped."

It has everything from beach equipment to condiments, and any kitchen gadget you can think of. Beds are comfortable and bedrooms have black out blinds. Garden is lovely and private. There is a huge selection of board games and puzzles to keep you busy too. This property is pet friendly and you’re allowed one pet, however it was only once we’d booked that we found out that it’s against the rules to leave your dog unattended on the property so that was a bit restrictive for when we needed to pop to the supermarket etc as one of us had to stay home. Overall though a really nice stay and I would highly recommend this cottage for families.

Thanks for the feedback Laura, and glad you enjoyed the cottage. I appreciate the comment re leaving pets unattended at the cottage so will look to change the details on the website - thank you. Property Owner

  • "Hi. We found the Cottage lovely."

Don’t like to give any bad feedback but just two things upset us during our stay and if they were looked at the whole place would be perfect . The key given to unlock the Door to cottage was for an entrance that you could literally break your neck . Open the door and literally fall in . The step down into the cottage after you open the door is on a severe slop down of about a foot drop . Found it unusable so during our stay we accessed the cottage via the kitchen door which after 1 smack on the head because of the height , you’d never do again

  • "Elm Cottage was an absolute delight."

Everything in the description was accurate. The cottage was extremely well appointed and certainly family orientated. Close enough to Bude and the Cornish coast to enjoy days out. But secluded enough to enjoy the tranquility of the small village. A very quaint and quirky cottage - if you are tall like me - watch your head. Those low beams will catch you out.

Thanks Brian, glad you loved the cottage and had a good time - hope your head has recovered! Property Owner

  • "Fabulous Cottage."

Comfortable and cosy and everything you could need for a holiday exploring the North Cornish Coast (only a few miles from the A39). Enclosed garden (Patio & Lawned area) for our two dogs was perfect. Great communication from the owner Deb, with the best equipped kitchen we have ever found in our numerous stays in Cornwall and Devon. I would not hesitate to book again in the future, highly recommended!

Perhaps a electric kettle, instead of the one on the hob safety issue when taking off the top to pour. Other wise a fabulous cottage.

  • "This was an ideal base for our 2 week holiday."

It's spacious and is well equipped with everything you might need. The bed was comfortable and everything was in good working order. The parking space at the side of the cottage was ideal and big enough for 2 cars. The outside space is very nice and ideal if you have a dog. Barney, our Cockerpoo, was able to have a run round the grass every day when we came back from our trips out. Overall a very enjoyable stay .

  • "This is a spacious and very well equipped cottage in the quiet village of STIBB."

Walking distance to the beach, but better to drive if have young children as quite a steep hill. Plenty of NT parking and the beach is splendid. Lots of walks from the cottage and nearby. Bude close by and can shop for most things in nearby Kilkhampton. I would highly recommend this cottage and Deborah's communications we're superb. One word of warning though, if you are tall, mind your head, some low doorways. Would love to stay again.

Thanks for the lovely feedback - we'd love to have you stay again! Property Owner

  • "The cottage is in a great location."

Quiet but not far from Bude, & the Atlantic highway to travel easily into Devon or further down into Cornwall. Overall the cottage was very comfortable. Beds are lovely and comfy. Our dog enjoyed exploring the garden. The only slight negative would be the main storage heater downstairs doesn’t appear to work so it was quite chilly downstairs without lighting the wood-burner. Upstairs perfectly cosy.

Thank you for your feedback, I am so sorry that the heater wasn't working and would have got that sorted for you had I known. Property Owner

Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Deb the owner provided lots of information before our stay and was easily contactable. The garden was lovely for us but sadly our poor old pooch found the steps a bit tricky.

We were very impressed with the facilities such as bbq, fire pit, body boards and how well equipped the kitchen was! Very cosy and comfy, all slept great. Very clean throughout, following covid guidelines. Only issue we found was the shower was not great pressure (electric shower), but there is a bath so used the bath to wash hair etc. We would definitely recommend and would love to visit again. Thank you!

  • "The cottage was brilliant."

We had an extremely comfortable two weeks there. The kitchen was the best equipped of any cottage we have used before which was really appreciated in this year where going out for meals is less easy to do . The property is spacious and good for larger families or a group of friends with four bedrooms and two bathrooms The Cottage is very well situated to visit many interesting places on the north Cornwall coast and also enabled us to set off on foot to the beach and onto the SW coastal path. We would be very happy to book again in the future

The property

This delightful detached cottage is set in the small hamlet of Stibb, 2 miles from the village of Kilkhampton and just under 5-miles from Bude.

Boasting plenty of character, Elm Cottage is an idyllic escape for families and friends looking to explore the stunning coastline and beaches of north east Cornwall.

After a tiring day seeing the area, curl up beside the woodburning stove and flick through the Smart TV to find a great film, or gather in the main sitting room/diner to plan for the next adventure.

You’ll have no trouble preparing delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen, appointed with a range of appliances and an array of cooking equipment, while there is also a handy utility cupboard with a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Upstairs is occupied by four well-presented bedrooms, including the master king-size double with Velux windows and exposed beams looking down on you, giving the room a very traditional feel.

There is also a double, twin and single room, offering guests plenty of choice and flexibility.

Positioned at the rear of the property, there is a patio garden with seating and a barbecue, along with a shed which can be used for bike and surfboard storage, so on a warm summer evening, make use of the barbecue and a rustle up a feast amidst your loved ones in the sun.

There are plenty of beaches, but less than two miles from Elm Cottage is the National Trust owned Sandymouth Bay, a fantastic sandy beach which is often much quieter than the other main beaches is a great spot to set up camp for a beach day, let the little ones paddle or simply enjoy making sandcastles.

The pretty seaside town of Bude sits just over four miles away and comes with a plethora of things to see and do, from its wealth of quaint pubs, shops and cafés to the renowned surfing beaches to make the most of.

Be sure to venture along the South West Coastal Path to experience the unspoilt beauty of the Cornish coastline with beautiful and rugged scenery.

With the quintessentially Cornish villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac not too far away as well, there is so much to do from Elm Cottage.

About the location

KILKHAMPTON

Bude 4 miles.

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.

An electric charging point is available at this property with a charge of £20 per week for a PHEV vehicle, and £50 per week for an EV vehicle, please arrange payment with the owner of the property.

The garage has now been taken down providing 2 parking spaces adjacent to the cottage. Please do not park near the next door cottages, as these spaces belong to our neighbours, and there is no additional parking available locally.
