Very comfortable beds and bedding. Huge deep bath and underfloor heating in bathroom. Luxury! A good base for the north Cornwall coast, easy drives to lots of beaches and the coast path.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Camelot cottage, the cottage is in a great location to explore and it was fantastic to be able to accommodate our friendly dog."

The cottage is spacious for a family of four and very well equipped, a real home from home. Something to consider is that the stair at top of the staircase coming from the master bedroom is a little tricky and wouldn’t be suitable for younger children as extra caution is needed to navigate it. Another is the lack of privacy in outdoor spaces, the very small patio to the front is open to the street front and the tiny decked area to the back offers absolutely no privacy to the property next door, this also affects privacy when in the upstairs bathroom when windows are open. Finally I would like to point out that although we found the accommodation very clean there were some oversights we encountered, there was a packet of biscuits left out for us which I thought was lovely, however when we went to have one the pack was opened and half eaten, not very hygienic at all.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Camelot Cottage and that you dog was able to enjoy it too! We note your comments about the stairs but the cottage is very old and obviously has its quirks. We have numerous children and elderly guests staying at the cottage and this hasn't been an issue. The courtyard area at the side of the property is not intended to be totally private because it provides access to the side door and rear. However it has a secure pedestrian gate and a wall to the lane at the front which is in an extremely quiet hamlet with relatively few passers- by. The decking area at the rear is private and secluded but has only just been installed and we have planted numerous climbers and large potted trees etc which are gradually becoming more established. There should be no issue with privacy in the bathroom as the window is frosted and there is also a roller blind for additional privacy. The caretaker has apologised for the opened box of biscuits, unfortunately this was an oversight because the box looked unopened. Apologies, we would never intentionally leave a half eaten box of biscuits for our guests! Property Owner

  • "Cottage very comfortable, very well stocked."

unfortunately wi -fi proved to be a problem,to make mobile phone calls we had to vacate the cottage walk up the road to get signal we could not receive calls either, and we did have a family crises while we stayed at Camelot cottage.we had a great selection of DVDs but the DVD player did not work,we was impressed that a sanitizer was provide but could not use it because it was empty, radio in the kitchen was provide needed cleaning and when you put main kitchen light on the radio cut out. wall paper had started lifting on the stairs. a real shame about the above would have made the stay more enjoyably.

Thank you for your feedback which we always welcome. The Wifi at the property is good, however mobile reception inside can be difficult. For this reason we have provided a land line for guests to use. We have since checked the DVD and this was found to be in good working order, instructions are available at the property. The kitchen radio has a certain texture to it, however, it is certainly not dirty . As a final note, the tiny piece of wallpaper that had lifted slightly in the stairway, has been looked at. We are pleased that you found Camelot Cottage to be comfortable and well stocked. Property Owner

  • "We booked the holiday in 2019, to go in 2020, but due to Covid-19 we had to delay until this year."

In that time, we acquired another small dog and a Grandson! We asked the owner if we could bring a second dog and asked if there was a travel cot. We were informed that there wasn’t room for a travel cot and we could not take another dog. If prices had not gone sky high after restrictions eased, I would have cancelled. Anyway, we only took one small dog and our own travel cot. There was room for 2 travel cots in the main bedroom! It was a lovely sized bedroom. The cottage was quite comfortable, well equipped and not too far from Port Isaac. The only grumble we had, the mattresses on all 3 beds have seen better days, and the sofas are not very comfy. It is located in a beautiful village.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. The cottage is ideally suited for parties of up to four people (including babies) plus a small dog. We don't provide a cot at the cottage. If there should be a baby in the party, we prefer that guests bring their own travel cot. The mattresses have been checked and are clean and in a good condition. As we all know mattresses are a matter of preference. The 2 sofas have now been replaced. We are glad you found the cottage comfortable and well equipped and enjoyed the village location. • "There needs to be some information on how the hot water system works, we had no hot water on our first morning."

The garden/patio is very small and not private. The cottage needs some TLC and some new kitchen / cooking equipment.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. Your comment regarding the information is understandable as we removed the Welcome Folder at the start of lockdown along with all games, books, DVDs etc as requested by Helpful Holidays. We will return this with all the information and instructions as this obviously goes a long way to helping our guests. We do also remind guests that our caretaker is on hand and is only too happy to help when you need assistance with instructions and local information etc. With regard to TLC, unfortunately works which we had organised had to be cancelled due to lockdown and are rescheduled for October this year. We ask guests to bear with us, as to date we have been extremely diligent and have taken pride in ensuring the property is well maintained and decorated to a high standard. We are surprised to hear there is a need for kitchen/cooking equipment as our caretaker carried out a full check of cooking utensils etc earlier on this year. If guests feel there is anything lacking, we would always welcome specific details in order to make improvements. Property Owner

  • "There needs to be a welcome book telling you how to use appliances and local interests etc."

Thought this may be to do with covid BUT we went to this cottage from wood view at sands place and they had a great welcome booklet and visitors book. Loved the bath tub, great location for visiting port Issac. Local area immediate to the cottage could do with some talc, as could the cottages front door. Beautifully done inside, comfortable.

  • "The Parking arrangements need to be explained more clearly."

Apparently it is expected that people park on the same side of the road as the cottage. There is a small space in front of the yard gate, but it didn’t look to have been used so we parked opposite and were informed late in the week that this was not the norm. A small sign on the gate would have been helpful. However, there is ample on road parking just around the corner, so not a problem. We really enjoyed our stay and it was lovely to be away from the crowds in Port Isaac. The cottage was quite spacious, plenty of room for the dog and ourselves and immaculate when we arrived with hand sanitizers and other Covid extras in place. The WiFi worked well which was also a boon on longer autumn evenings. Lots of walking close by without using the car and a great farm shop less than a mile away.

Thank you for your comments. We're sorry that the parking arrangements caused confusion. These have been discussed with the owner and some amendments have been made to both the descriptive text and the directions to the cottage, which we hope will make things clearer. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay at Camelot Cottage. Port Isaac and the surrounding area are lovely, with fabulous coastal walks and scenery. Property Owner

No parking space but as it’s on a quiet road it wasn’t a problem. Lounge is lovely to relax in with the fire and the kitchen is perfect. Property may be more suited to families than couples, as one shower room is downstairs through the kitchen, which wasn’t made clear in the property description. The upstairs bathroom is beautiful and next door to the twin room.

  • "There was insufficient parking available outside the property, despite this being stated in all documentation and we also found the small side yard wasn’t compatible for our dog."

As this was listed as dog friendly, we would have expected a larger garden and to have restrictions on the upstairs where our dog wasn’t permitted, and also we were not able to leave our dog on her own at any point, made this a restrictive holiday for us.
