  • “Nothing too dramatic but a couple of issues that the owners should be aware of: The garden was looking overgrown, lawn uncut and patio hadn't been weeded for a long time.”

    ...

There was no shower squeegee - which was no hardship but was referred to in the visitors instructions. The bin collections are on a Monday - so we had very little by the time of the collection but had to leave our rubbish when we left. I assume this is a regular problem - if there is a nearby alternative facility perhaps it should appear in the visitors instructions. The lounge armchair, if moved, scratches the floor. Unavoidable when trying to watch the TV - suggest replacing the casters with rubber ones.

The property

Perfectly located for touring the north of both Cornwall and Devon, this charming 'picture postcard' thatched cottage, built in 1752, is set in the pretty village of Morwenstow.

Being just a mile from the spectacular coastal path and ten miles north of Bude, you are well located for a much-needed holiday.

Parking opposite the cottage, you can sense a homely feel the moment you enter.

It is full of character, with its beamed ceilings, large fireplace and memories of time gone by.

There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin both reached by a set of steep stairs from the living room which features a log burner adding to the character and most welcoming after a winter walk along the cliffs.

The delightful bathroom offers a free standing bath to indulge yourself with a long soak and reflect on the day.

Outside, a pretty enclosed garden with a patio is the place to start with breakfast or an early morning cuppa.

Just a mile away and a pleasant walk along country lanes will take you to the historic Bush Inn, a 13th century pub full of history and intrigue.

Open all day every day, serving good food and real ales - this would be many peoples ideal pub, boasting a garden with sea views for warm sunny days and a roaring fire for the cooler winter months.
